My parents don't care if I read Harry Potter but lots of my friends at church aren't allowed to read it. What is your opinion? I honestly Harry Potter is one of the best books I ahve read I am almost done with the 6th one.

I LOVE HARRY POTTER! People are debating whether or not to ban Harry Potter from school libraries. I think it's getting WAY out of hand. So what if it has scorcery in it! That doesn't mean that kids are going to go Satanic or anything!!

I love Harry Potter. I also know it got people who don't normally read, read it. My friend doesn't like to read that much, and she's read all of the Harry Potters.. Actually, I think she still has one of them.. Hmm..

HP has done so much good! It's boosted reading and it's a great series! So many kids have started reading because of it. I'll bet that 9/10 people who hate the series have never read it. Those who claim that it's satanic have to condemn Lord of the Rings too. It has "Sorcery" in it too. Oh wait, Tolkien was an majorly religious author. If you hate HP then you'll have to hate most fantasy books.

Ooh, *randomly screams at people who are against it, saying it's against religion and stuff* XD I had a lady come up to me at a bookstore once telling me that I shouldn't read HP because Jesus loves me, and that the books teach you spells and stuff.
HP has boosted so many kid's reading skills, it's also given them a hobby that will get them off the computers razz Also, I belive that it heightens they're observational skills, because when they watch the movies, they want to point out what's missing.
Just my personal opinion. I pratically live off of that series!

I used to hate it, sneer at the people who read it. Until I read it myself. They are some really good books. I guess the parents are just tryna protect their children in a sense. But what about LOTR, and The Chronicles of Narnia? Both of them have some level of magic and sorcery yet they're not being slandered. Or maybe its cos both authors were Christians?
It whatsoever does not teach you wizardry. Its just pure fiction. Smesh.
And um, the sixth book is due out in July. The one you may have 'read' could be a fake. Or you could have just read a brief summary.

Harry Potter is Fiction, it tells the stroy of an "english" boy who goes away to school. JK simply placed him as a sorcerrer to make her readings interesting, and fresh. It does not teach anything that the church would frown upon. If it did, the General Authorities or the Twelve would say so. And when they do, I'll get rid of my Sisters books, until then they stay. *hugs*

harry potter teaches me sorcenry really? Sweet!
*concentrates and tries to levitate stapler on desk*
it isnt working sad I guess my pencil dsotn make a good wand.
seriously i think Harry potter is a good story. the books are fantastic and I think they are very tru to life. I mean not all that magic stuff but the characters themselves are very real.
people dotn want their kids to read harry potter becuase it some how relates to satan in their mind. but here is somethign to thinka bout. Satan is the great deciver, the church teaches us to get educated. education is important to your development and helps you to develope tools you can use to defeat satan. some one who is uneducated i think is more liekyl going to fallow satan becuase. we get educated though reading. in away if you think about it it is Satan who is causing parent to not aloow them to read harry poter. Harr Potter took the world by storm it gets kids to read instead of play video games and watch T.V. Satan rather have use Watch T.V. non child oriented material can escap into the childs mind that way. even during family show you will see advertisments for beer, male enhancement drugs, and teh glorification of imodest dress and/or behavior. You don't find that in harry potter. Video games arnt much better sometimes. Think about it. I would rather my children read the watch T.V. a childs brain develops more, and stories like harry potter don't promote imoral behavior. So it is my opinion that it is the work of the devil to not let your children read harry potter, rather then it being satanic to allow them to do so.

People fear anything that is powerful and different .. they hated the church in the beginning (and they still do!). I haven't heard of any children turning their frogs/rats/teacups/pencils/cars into anything, so we really have no problem of "magic" spreading around and harming people. Silly that people would say such. They really are excellant books (although they were rather dark in the last one .. kinda hoping for a happy ending here!), and although as a church we don't believe in magic or sorcery or anything of the sort, we do believe in reading!!! And that's the biggest craze that has come from all these books (and a whole lot of fan clubs).

Ack! Just finished checking Rowling's site!!! It has an artical on it saying that the one on harrybooks.info is a scam!! I'm not kidding on this.*re-checks site* Tell every HP fan you know. The e-Harry Potter book 6 is a scam and shouldn't be trusted. Though I still want to read it..... Go to J.K. Rowling official site for more details on it.

I read an article about Harry Potter being a source of "witccraft." That same article compared Harry Potter to other stories, like Cinderella dn Sleeping Beauty. Wasn't there magic in Cinderella? Of course there was. Her fairy godmother came, gave her a dress and coach and sent her to the ball. And do people make a big issue over that? Noooooooooooo... And Sleeping Beauty? Yeah, a princess gets cursed, pricks her finger, falls asleep for 100 years, wakes up to prince Charming. Is that objectionable? Nooooooooo....but both stories have a lot of magic in them. It's stupid that people object to Harry Potter.
