Keenihabu'bwana had fled from his little group for a while, just to grab some food for him and Motomilia -- he didn't care for M'paji, he'd rather see the adolescent runt starve for all he cared. Snorting with a grin, he padded swiftly about, spotting a defenseless animal making its way through the dead grass desert floor. It was a small armadillo. He lept into the air, landing forepaws first onto the poor little animal. It shrieked in fear at the large male grasped the rodent in his giant paws.
He sat still for a moment, looking around to rediscover his sense of direction, to return to the group to give food to the female he admired. Sniffing the air, an unfamiliar scent had caught the red male's attention, and he growled with disgust. Whos in the bushes? I can smell you miles away. He stood his ground, and grabbed the small armadillo up in his jaws, protecting it with care.

Chiboa peered through the bushes at the large lion. If he'd any sense, he would have stayed quiet, but the young rogue wild dog was far too cocky to do such a thing.
He stepped out, exposing his scruffy and unkept grey pelt. Holding a fighting stance, he ran his icy blue eyes over the prey dangled in the Firekin's mouth.
"Why, I'm here", he said with a toothy grin, running his tongue over his chops.

Keeni glared to the wild dog, baring his teeth. A loud growl vibrated from exposed teeth, as a warning to the puny creature. Look here you freak. This food is for my mate, Motomilia, and I won't let you take it! He became more mad by the seconds, the let out another growl. Backing up a bit, he kept his eyes on the male infront of him.

Chiboa shrunk back. He hadn't expected that. He had never come upon a lion, let alone a supposedly fierce Firekin one. He mumbled a few words under his breath, unhappy that the large lion was willing to fight for his prey, unlike the cheetah cub he had stolen from beforehand.
"No", he said, fighting the urge to yelp and turn away. He raised his head and gave a weak grin.

Keeni growled madly, and then turned away. "Whatever. I'm not giving you the food, so get lost -- or i'll take worse measures." He snorted, and then slowly began skipping off, his tail flicking lightly as he attempted to tease the dog.

Chiboa's ears flattened out. "I'm hungry", he declared, and stepped toward the lion. "That armadillo", he whispered, "is mine."
"Give it here", he barked, narrowing his eyes in challenge.

Keenihabu'bwana turned to face the wild dog, as he placed the meal beside him. Growling lightly, he extended his claws, and kneeled down, ready to attack the ugly thing. "Never in my lifetime." The Firekin slanted his eyes, and then began to charge right for the dog, baring his fangs.

Chiboa yelped in surprise as the Firekin came charging towards him. He slipped out of the lion's range and circled around him, grinning. "Hey.. hey. Make sure to catch me next time", Chiboa mocked, throwing a nervous look over his shoulder.

The Firekin male spun around, as he yelled madly. Annoyed, he began charging again towards the mutt again, roaring with hate. "Next time, I won't miss you so easily!" As he came closer, he held his forelegs out, taking a direct hit on Chiboa, which gave him a slight scratch. As he came back around, he grinned, chuckling a bit. "Not so smooth now, are you?"

Chiboa winced at the impact of the Firekin's paws. The young male tripped backwards, landing on his side. Bewildered, he scrambled to his paws again, and shot his opponent an icy glare.
"I don't want to fight", he growled, hackles raised.
His eyes focused beyond the frame of the lion, to the small dead creature that he longed to dig his teeth into. Chiboa gave a weary glance at the lion before leaping towards the armadillo.

As he saw Chiboa dive for the meat, Keeni also began to race for it. "Well, then -- if you want MY meat, you'll have to fight, you lousy scavenger." He began to dive in for the food as well. Keeni and Chiboa we're about to colide, as they went for the armadillo. "Its my food!" He roared once more, as he headbutted into the dog.

Chiboa lunged at the prey, loosely grabbing the back of its neck. He stepped backward as a sharp pain stung at his shoulder where Keeni had headbutted him. Chiboa let out a surprised yelp through a mouthful of armadillo. He dug his teeth deep into the flesh, trying to get a good grip on it; a satisfied look crossed his ice blue eyes as he tasted blood run on his tongue.
The scruffy dog spun around, and attempted to run away.

Keeni flailed over, as he stumbled to the ground. The headbutt left him silent for now, for he slowly fell into unconsiousness. The thoughts and anger on his mind trailed away, as did his food. Chiboa got away this time -- but the scent was clearly left on the firekin's body. He'd soon be back to revisit his little Wild Dog buddy ... ... a grin remained on his maw, as he laid there silently.

Chiboa felt as if his heart would leap right out of him as it pounded vigerously in his chest, and with every step, grew quicker. All he could hear was the crackle of leaves beneath his paws as he bounded away, and his breath growing more and more rapid.
He came to a sudden hault, and spun around. Confused, he scanned the area. There was no pursuit. He peered through the leaves of a low hanging tree, and watched with a grin as his enemy collapsed.
"Now that was stupid", he snickered, "You fell as a result of your own fault. And I", he paused, drinking in the sweet scent of the armadillo, "am not hungry anymore." With that, Chiboa trotted cockily away, with his head and tail held high.
