Ok, the issue with the female bishop in the episcopalian church supposedly is not that she's female, but that she doesn't agree completely with scripture and is more for like civil rights and things like that. What are everyones opinions on this?

I don't want to offend any denomenation, but I think if she doesn't agree with all the scripture she shouldn't be a bishop. That is my opinion.

Well, which bits of the scripture doesn't she agree with? And is it that she looks at the Bible and says "No, that's wrong", or does she just interpret it differently than the rest of the church?
Personally, I think that if she's for civil rights, she should be there, because... yeah, that's what the church needs.

a little more info on this, if ye'd please? I'm going to side a bit with teh Empress on this one, if it's straight out "Bible=Bad" then yeah, she's ini teh wrong place, and I have no idea how she ogt there. If she feels that religion has no place in politics, then no biggie, as Religion + Politics = Corrupt Church. For an example, every Theocracy throughout history has turned teh church corrupt, it is only Wise that this Woman would see it as such.

Well, think of it this way, Politics + Religion = Corrupt Government. I'm not 100% sure about her believes, I just know what my youth minister told me which I've already said.

What are everyones opinions on this? What? Last I heard, Bp. Katherine was not a heretic. What are you talking about?

Well, I highly suspect that problem is she doesn't agree with your minister on the INTEPETATION of scripture. It's true she doesn't believe homosexuality is a sin, but if she's anything like me on that subject, she probably has reasons that lie within the text itself to believe that. I didn't know believing in civil rights was contrary to scripture either.

Well then that makes sense, are church is very republican, I'm not, nor are my family, but my church is, and they definetedly wouldn't like that. I think gays should have the benefits of marriage and they should be respected enough to have their legal unions called marriage and have the right to get married where they want, but thats just me.
