I have always had a *very* regular cycle, since about 6 months after starting my period has kept the same cycle, and while there is minor variation, I can gauge what that variation will be, usually 1-2 weeks in advance. I've also been really lucky in that I rarely get pms to any noticable degree, and when I do get cramping it is minor. I'm still functional.
However this past year things have been changing I've had cramps twice now so bad I ended up throwing up. Though on all other occaions they've been their usually light selves. I did have some mood swings this spring with pms timing but I was also stressed beyond belief and living a little sleep, so I just took the full combination of factors and thought it was normal.
Now however, my period is late by a couple days and I've been having HUGE mood swings, and this morning even a few cramps, but.. here's the real cincher... I really don't feel like my period is going to start anytime soon. I've told my mom about it and she says if it goes a couple more days she'll take me into the doctor.
I was just wondering if any other girls had these sudden changes to their cycles or other hormonal chaos as they got closer to the end of puberty? Is this normal? Or should I be worried about what I'm going through?

I don't know if it necessarily has anything to do with puberty, but your mom's right. You should see a doctor about the problems. I had the same problems as you, but they've been regulated with birth control. That was a last resort after stuff like Aleve didn't work. Yours may be fixed a different way, even by something like Tylenol or Aleve. But only the doctor can steer you in the right direction.

Nope, it's an over the counter painkiller.

My mom always told me that puberty for girls doesn't really fully end until a woman is in her 20's. Being 19, I can attest to that. Maybe you're hitting another large swing in hormones? It honestly sounds normal to me, but to be safe and to settle any worrys, talk to the Doc. ^__^ They're usually REALLY good with these sorts of things.

I've gotten this resolved for the time being. It looks like it was stress induced hormonal chaos. sweatdrop
Thanks for all the replies though. smile
