Hrumph

The young leopard sulked miserably as he stalked around what would be his new territory. He wasn't sure what felt worse - having lost his mother and now must find a new home, or that his supposed 'brother' was a cheetah that his mother had adopted long before he was born. The latter would have to be kept secret though, no matter how much he wanted to pout and rant at the first critter that showed him friendship. The cheetah hasdn't been all that welcoming...

Resting beneath the shade of the overhanging trees, Takilifu sighed heavily and began to pant slightly in the combined heat and humidity. He almost hated to rest, since it meant he had time to think. He hated thinking. It meant that he could dwell on his awful behaviour to his brother so that guilt could just start to bite at the back of his mind. His tail flicked idly and he swatted his paws at bits of wavering grass.

*White paws laced along the ground in frustration, as the purple spotted Kujack moved himself into the jungle. He had been off hunting, but came back unsuccessful. His green eyes narrowed as he let a light snarl pass him. He was bitter about this out come, and this would not go well with his lack of eating. He had been unable to get any real food for two days now, and his body ached because of it.

Whatever it was, this male seemed out of it. Though he was always bitter, it showed more when he lacked food within his belly. Moving himself to rest within the moist grasses, the lanky male rested; his eyes narrowing as he took in air. Kujack seemed still enough, but he was ready to attack at any given moment, if needed. He stayed in tune with what was around him, something he wished everyone else around him would do.*

Taki's frown had subsided now into a blank expression, only his eyes flickering with life as he watched his paws swat at flies now. Then a shadow obscured his vision and that blank slate of a face suddenly came to life. Feeling incredibly vulnerbale, he pressed himself to the ground even more and just prayed that either his dappled pelt would hide him a little longer, or that this other leopard would be friendly.

Then it happened.

Taki caught a twig with his tail and prepared himself for the worst.

*Twisting himself back Kujack hissed and stood tall; his envy colored eyes narrowing sharply. What was this- another male? With a faint smirk he stood still and eyed him down, as if to take in all that he was seeing. He looked younger, at least to him, Kujack felt so old, always. Tilting his head to the side the green eyed male sat down and spoke, feeling no real danger within this male. He looked as frustrated as Kujack was. Funny thing really. Sitting he eyed him still, for a moment before speaking.*

"Don’t fret. I’m not here to start trouble. I am here to get away from the sun, and heat-- but it would seem even here the heat has come."

*He sat still and flexed his back muscles slowly, smirking slyly.*

Takilifu had begun to creep backwards, barely lifting his belly from the ground, keeping his bright eyes on the bigger male. For all his bravado, Taki would not know what to do when faced with other leopards. He certainly couldn't fight. What could he do? His only option was to race for the nearest large tree, but would that do any good considering that his pursuer was a leopard also?

The youngster needn't have worried. The male hadn't attacked and didn't appear to show any malice, although his smirk was extremely unsettling.

Taki untensed his muscles a little, visibly springing back to an almost normal sitting pose as if he had suspension in his legs. But he didn't relax.

"Yes...it would seem so..."

*Eyeing over at the younger male Kujack smirked and licked his maw slowly. He loved being oggy, and making others feel uncomfortable around him. Slowly pulling himself back the green eyed male rested himself against a near by tree, purring to himself. He was glad to be back in the jungle, it was so much more roomy then the Pride Lands. Eyeing back at the young male Kujack spoke out, his tone raspy.*

"Yes indeed."

*Tilting his head to the side he rested, thinking to himself for a while before speaking once more.*

"Oh, I almost forgot, do you have a name? If I am going to sit here with, and have you around me, I should at least have a name to call you."

Taki's jaw hung lose ever so slightly in his confusion. Here was a much older and larger leopard, with an uncanny ability of giving Taki the heebies, and yet he seemed unconfrontational. Maybe the guy was just grumpy for company.

"M-my name is Takilifu," he began, easing himself up into a standing position, showing much of his age with that slightly leaning-forward stance of curiosity.

"Don't stutter. If you are going to say your name, say it with pride. I see nothing wrong with you so don't act lame!"

*Kujack spoke to the male as if he were a son. In all truths he didn't mean nay harm, he was just very... very confused. Jack had come back to the jungle for a rest and an escape from the tiny lion cub that followed him. He had become a father type thing... to this cub-- Kujack was beside himself with this one.

Moving to the side male simply sat himself down and rested, his body's muscles relaxing before he spoke.*

"Takilifu, I'm Kujack."

Taki flinched at the reprimand, feeling much like a tiny cub being scolded for chewing on his mother's tail. But that childish fear didn't last long. Even with his mother, he never took notice of commands and tellings off.

Feeling more at ease with the other male now, he bowed his head in a very rare show of respect. Taki was more likely to ridicule others for their odd names or colours, but he didn't want to push his luck with Kujack.

"Pleasure to meet you," he replied as he lifted his head once more.

Never one to stay still for long, he leapt up into the tree above Kujack, and began pawing at the flowers, sending a stream of petals down to earth.
