Hey gals. Come here to chit or chat about whatever you'd like.
I'd personally be interested to see how many girls play upright or electric bass for a school activity.. or just in their own bands or whatever.
Post what kind of music you play and who influences you the most!

I play electric in a three-girl band. We've only been together a week so we've only managed to complete two songs: 'Smells like teen spirit' by Nirvana and 'Hella Good' by No Doubt. Our guitarist has also written and composed the music to another song which we will start soon as well.
As I've only been playing bass a week (done guitar for two years though so that's helped a lot) I don't really have a set kind of music I play. Just rock/punk really. I'd love to do some jazz and ska but my other band members arn't really into it so I just practise that on my own.
As for influences, Flea from the RHCP and Eric Willson from Sublime.
Good idea for a thread btw! surprised

I play electric bass, I use to play for our school band, but now I'm switching schools. As far as I know there's only one bassist now, and he pretty much sucks, so they're screwed. xd
I don't play in a band at the moment. I was offered to play with one of my friends' band for a show once, but I didn't take up the offer.
I love playing rock music. The bassist that compelled me to play more was Cliff Burton and Duff McKagen.

That's awesome you guys.
Oh by the way D R E A M T, Cliff Burton, I agree, was way cool.
I play for the school band in marching band and jazz band, and also in a small band of my own. I always find it enjoyable when we go out to other schools to perform and all the reactions I get from the people at these places. Makes me feel.. cool. Haha.
My own personal influences are various jazz bass players that I hear on the radio, live, or where-ever!

I only know one other girl bass player other than me. I'm sure there are lots of us out there! I used to play for a band, but I quit because the drummer and I got on eachother's nerves, and that's not a good thing when you're on bass.

*raises hand* I'm a girl bassist.
I'm sort of in a band... that's still looking for a drummer... and the guitarist doesn't have a guitar... oh well.
I love any kind of rock or pseudo-rock, and my bass is named after The bass players from Green Day, My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Rush.

I Play Bass In The School Jazz Band.... It's Awesome.... Because At The Audition To Get In (When I Was In 6th Grade) The Teacher Said I Beat All The Other Bassists By A Long Shot. (Keep In Mind, These Were The Bassists From The Orchestra, And In Orchestra, I Play Cello.) So It Was Pretty Awesome...

I play in the school band and a couple of my own. Electric, just because I don't have the money or proper transportation for an upright.
I love every type of music. Every genre.
