SCEA is Sony Computer Entertainment America. The "They" in that quote is Microsoft. He's saying that Microsoft copies everything that Sony does. Even though Microsoft had a hardrive, online play, and different configurations at different prices long before Sony did. Sony just had the stupid idea to pack it all into one machine and charge six hundred dollars for it. Phil Harrison, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios also managed to vomit up a little bit more a few weeks previous, when he said that the Linux-based OS of the PS3 would render PC's nothing more than "moot in the home." Considering that Sony only got into the business because Nintendo made this exact same mistake, you'd think that they wouldn't be this stupid. David Reeves, CEO of SCEE the first five million [gamers] are going to buy it, whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games. Before that, his explanation was that Sony had built up so much brand quality, that gamers are going to buy anything they make, even if there are no games for it. Many, if not all, of the release titles are not going to be "release" titles. They're going to come out after the PS3, and Sony thinks that no matter what, Gamers are going to buy it, even if the console is going to cost $600, and the games are going to cost somwhere between $60 and $100. More than that, someone in Sony(can't remember who, and I can't find the webpage) mentioned that PS3 games costing $100 apiece wouldn't be that much of a stretch. For the record, SCEE is Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. So what if I've digressed and delved into my immense hatred for Sony and their idiotic publicity tactics. They're getting publicity, but it's not having the same result that Nintendo got when they changed the Revolution's name to the Wii. That got a positive reaction. Kutaragi, head of Sony Computer Entertainment had the nerve to say, proudly, that the PS3 would be so expensive that some people would have to get second jobs to afford it. And now that the pricepoint is set, he's deeming it "too cheap." I'm pretty sure that's going to get negative publicity. So, what do you think? Post your opinion. Insult mine. Be honest. Anywho, I completely agree with you. That's just horrible marketing, and now anyone who might've bought the PS3 is certainly going to think twice about it after being insulted like that.
Sony's saying that if they stamp "SONY" on a piece of garbage, and market it for three thousand dollars, that anyone will buy it because "Sony is so well known". Yeah, way to lose a whole bunch of supporters there Sony.
More importantly, saying that Microsoft was "behind them", when Microsoft was important before they were even around, is like France building a Nuke, and telling everyone that America was "right behind them", and built it only after they'd made it. Ridiculous, completely ridiculous, and I certainly hope that Bill Gates finds a way to sue him on the charges of being an idiot.
On a final point, I'd like to call them on their "Linux-based OS" that will "destroy the PC industry", (which quite recently nabbed more awards at E3 than any consoles did, and probably more award than the entire console industry put together). If Linux was so big and bad, more people would be using it, and Windows wouldn't dominate the OS world of PCs, with the Mac OS behind it on Macintosh products, and Linux cowering in their wake. Though I'm not one to read Macintosh-based magazines much, I will add what I saw in a recent one.
"Macintosh is pushing for a new ad campaign that will portray 'Macintosh OS'as a young hip man, and the 'Windows OS' as an old 'Nerd'" "And the Linux user will be portrayed as a dirty hobo on a street corner, begging for money. [Not quoted word for word, I was too lazy to get the magazine.]
So, way to go Sony, way to be stupid.

It's good to see Sony trying to kill itself off.
"We're doing fine, looking alright, so let's tie a rope around our necks, drink some poison, set ourselves on fire, and jump off of a cliff. But wait, there's more. Let's castrate ourselves on the way down, just to make sure that we'll have no chance of pulling out of this."
Damned good plan right there.
Seeing this, maybe it's better off without Sony.

Well all i can say is i dont think the PS3 is going to sell well at that price and they said there games are gonna be like 100$ or less or something.

I think that the PS3 is not going to sell as well as the Xbox 360 and the Wii, People are going to be buying a Wii and a 360 instead becuase they are cheaper and put the price of both consoles together and it costs round about the same as buying a ps3. The look of the PS3 is simular to the PS2, they have not come up with a good origanal design for it, i love the look of the wii it's differant, same goes for the 360 they managed to to improve the design. The ps3 is huge it's a massive machine, and i personally think it looks 'ugly'. However i am planning on buying a ps3, i am also planning on getting the Wii, becuase there are many games only comming out on the PS3 that interest me. The console is going to cost alot and so are the games, im disapointed in sony, a couple of years ago i hated the xbox i was a sony fan 0.0, now im a fan of all 3 consoles i think they all have good and bad qualitys. My freind read an article that says there is a problem with the PS3 the chips inside it (i think its the chips) only work on a small number of consoles, maybe it's going to freeze more than the 360 does. This console may very well be the end of sony, they messed up with UMD's no one wants them anymore and they are not selling. I'd like to see sony fall on there big fat butt to be honest the console war is between the 360 and the wii. They are both completly differant consoles, it's all about preferance. If sony goes there won't really be a console war there will just be two brilliant consoles avlible to people, that are also sold at a reasonable price.

I might have mentioned this, but there are also rumors that Microsoft is going to lower prices when the PS3 comes out. I don't think that there's anything official on it yet, but if it's true, Sony will fall even further behind.
And I think that they're underestimating the fact that they're losing exclusivity to a lot of great games, like Grand Theft Auto 4. Lots of people would buy a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing that game, but now it will be coming out on more than the PS3.
I'm hoping to get the Wii because it will have, quite simply, Nintendo-style games on it, like Elebits. Many people like Nintendo's games primarily because many of them have a "cartoony" feel to them. Not all of them do, but when you have games like Mario and Super Smash Brothers, and even the Zelda Series in some instances(this can not be said for the second half of the Ocarina of Time), many people buy Nintendo's consoles to get games made with that style.

The PS3 had a very rocky start. Most problems fixed as of January.
Though rumors have arised that MTGS4 will be on the 360, not the PS3. If this happens, Sony is done for. No PS4 or anything else for the PS3.
Oblivion for PS3 inferior, 360 Oblivion superior. Why pay $60 for Oblivion on the 360 when you can download the content for cheaper. Also save $100-$300 on the system itself.

my view on Sony:
Laptops (sony vaio):
its alright looking, but i saw it and it was tiny! also it was too over priced
TVs and the such:
very good, so i hear. i would like to get one maybe
consoles:
PS1- great console, the graphics werent bad
PS2- only improvement i saw was a DVD drive and USB (plus ethernet)
PS3- the graphics in a comparison video i saw werent much better than PS2... and PS2s werent much better than the PS1's
i think this is the end of Sony's consoles. they are pricing their things too highly when the competition is cheaper and often overtakes them
down with sony!

Hm...well, I do like PlayStation because of certain games that are only exclusive to it. But if they make those games for Nintendo consoles or X-box, I'd usually rather play them on that. Because I do like games like Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy...and old school PlayStation games (which makes me happy they're playable on PS2).
It ticks me off that the PS3 is so expensive, and so are those games. Games should only reach $60, tops. xp My brother wants to get MGS4, and a few other games...but if they make MGS4 for the 360, he'll probably buy it for that. He's a big Microsoft fan, but he likes PlayStation games as well. And hopefully they might add stuff if they make a 360 version. 3nodding
To me it seems most of the Microsoft games today are FPS or war games, which I find no real interest in (Halo's kinda fun but it gets old after a while). Sony seems to get more of the RPGs and such, and platformers, which are games I do like.
For some reason though, I like Microsoft more...maybe the Elder Scrolls series is enough to pull me to that. ^_^ I'm also a big Nintendo fan, and Gamecube is fun all around (and I might get a Wii soon because I have a job and money now heart And I love playing it. Nintendo was smart to make the Wii the way it is).
What I don't care for on the PS3 is all the high tech stuff. All I want one for is to play games. That's it. I don't care for Blue Ray or any of the other stuff...to me it's just a game console that I'm going to play PlayStation games on. 3nodding This is why I like the X-box consoles...you can buy the upgrades and software if you want to...it doesn't all come whether you like it or not. That's quite nice. ^_^
So, to me Sony's going down...I just don't care for the stuff they're making but it'll probably make Sony fans happy. 3nodding In my opinion, it's ridiculously expensive. sweatdrop
