ya get a signet from the T.K. knight at the gates and the mobs will drop different elment type crystals used for crafting and other things. I found the best ones that sell are the fireones, in which in your area are the orc's that drop those, ghelsba outpost is a nice place to farm them at lvls6-11ish maybe higher.

Selling stacks of crystals at the AH is a good idea, also getting as many conquest points as possible helps too.

how do we get conquest points?

Speak with one of the Conquest overseers within the nations and they will cast Signet on you. With Signet on, any beast that checks as Easy Prey and up will give you conquest points and possible crystal drops.

The link above provides a list of NPC's who will cast Signet on you (some require you be enlisted within their nation).

EDIT
Also, another easy way to earn gil is to fish for Moat Carps and sell them in the Auction House. On Titan, a stack of carps go for at least 10k and up in San d'Oria.

A good way to SAVE money you already have is to buy as much gear off of NPC vendors as possiable during the early levels. It's a lot cheaper then what the AH will sell the same stuff for.

Save your money and start crafting. I recommend anything but cloth! Alchemy is a safe bet aswell as cooking.

Depends where u are starting at. If your at San D'Oria go farm fire crystals. At bastok, go kill saplings for grain seeds (not sure on the other servers but they sell well on lakshmi). Not sure for Windurst, maybe silk for the crawlers? sweatdrop The drop rate is really low but u never know.

Not a fast way to make gil but still a good way to make a decent profit. Get to Bastok, buy 2-3 stacks of pick axes, go to Zeruhn Mines or if your strong enough Palborough Mines, find mineing spots and use picks axes on them, keep Zinc, Mithral, Darksteel, or Platnum ore only, the resty isn't worth the space it takes up.

Fish, crystals, clusters, or anything that you get from a drop could be worth a lot. Just don't drop items, as long you check the AH and see what the item you have goes for, then you can sell it and make it a profit.

THAT...is a big fat lie. Cooking I agree with, but past lvl 20 alchamy, it gets extreamly expensive.
