Ok, so, this has come up a lot lately, but I'm giving this topic it's very own thread! Why is it we have 712 members, and hardly anyone posts? confused

To be honest, I have no idea why there aren't more people posting... I try to post more or less often...
Some guilds may offer prizes with the action of a random number... *hint hint*

Bah, we've tried lots of contests and whatnot in the past. Hardly anyone seems to bother stopping in to see what's going on. sweatdrop

i'm stopping in! *waves*
i feel like it's kinda tricky to navigate these guilds b/c you need a bunch of people posting a lot for it to feel like you need to come back often to see what's been updated... which will in turn get more people to post and be active and such.
but of course, the problem is in getting a bunch of people to post often in the first place. sweatdrop

I spent days inviting people, one day I invited over 100 people from around the chatterbox and an hour later I noticed not one person accepted the invite cause the # of members hadnt even gone up by one! I notice the guild is set to private.... what does that mean? Is there a puplic option? and would we have better luck getting people to join us if it was puplic? After my doctors apointment I think I'll try inviting more people, I figure I've gotten some semi active peole in here, why not try until we get a few more? Mabey we need another active crew member that would be willing to send out invites or spend time looking for spiffy people to join? If me and someone else are sending out at least 50 invites or more on an almost daily basis then we are bound to find at least a few active people willing to join us.

Just joined.
Well, I think it's good to have a steady flowof posts, but not overbearingly so. The enviroment of this particular guild is good, calm, easy going. Friendly, even. It's a bunch of people just talking about whatever they want to talk about, instead of a can of n00bs begging and making threads like "LOOKIN 4 A HOT N SEXY GF!"

I think what we are trying to do with this guild is get enough active members so that everytime a member comes here he or she will have topics to post in. right now it seems everytime I get on only a few new posts have been posted. Were hoping to get people in here who will post interesting threads and will read the threads that already exist and post thier input on whatever topic grabs their attention. We want it to be a nice friendly guild, not with so many people you can't keep up on the topics being posted, but enough to start conversations and become friendly with each other. we don't let any beggers or noobs in and if someone is being rude to a member we won't put up with it. We want people to enjoy it here.

I would also like to add that I am very glad there aren't threads like the aforementionned "LOOKIN 4 A HOT N SEXY GF!"... *shudders*

addressing the public v. private guild thing. i believe (and i'm not 100% sure) that the only difference in it is that in a private guild no outside random people can post whatever bullshit they feel like and then run away. i don't think it would affect membership in changing it to a public guild.
(personally, i like it private... makes me feel like it's a little more under control)

I'm thinking we need another crew member or two to help bring up activity if nothing else... Why don't we start a thread about how to become a crew member? My idea is basicly say we are looking for about two new crew members but they have to have at least I dunno, mabey 25, 50 or 75 posts in the guild before they can apply or something like that, they also mabey have to be willing to stay active and get to the guild at least 3 times a week or something like that after being accepted as crew, unless they give us a good reason why they can't get on for a few days, and also would have to be willing to spend time recruiting new members for the guild. Does that sound like a good way to get a crew member who would be active? If it does I say we creat a sticky thread letting people know how they can become a crew member.
