That morning Fuega slept much later then usual and by the time she awake the den was already empty. She assumed that her pups were with Cathal or off wandering the woods like they oftentimes liked to do. She crept out and had the bit of carcus that was left over from the previous night, though her stomach still felt empty afterwards. She went out and by the great life giver in the sky she already knew that it was midday. That's when she asked, and that's when she was given constent. Questions were rattled upon her, questions that she really couldn't even begin to answer. But she supposed she answered as well as one could given the situation.
So there she was, leaving to go find someone that she still had trouble believing loved her. The pups didn't even pay attention to her as she left, save for Backus who simply asked her if she planned on coming back. With a soft sigh and heavy heart she didn't answer him and continued on her way to find Lumbre.

The sun was beating down on the water, casting reflections across Lumbre's coat as he gazed into it. He watched the dark shining forms beneath the surface between the glare spots, waiting for an opening. Lunch would be nice, he thought. He was already past his ankles in the water, and the cool sensation felt surprisingly good against his hot body. His eyes timed the fishes movements and darting patterns, and with a calculated stab, he threw his jaws into the water, snapping them closed quickly around a fat, silvery body. He slid the mercury fish from it's home environment, letting it struggle against him before he crushed the life from it, taking in it's sweet taste and scent.
He pulled his body from the lake, laying with the limp fish and licking at it, then tearing into the soft, crumbly meat. He was tense, it was apparent in his every movement, right down to the way he folded his paws over the fish body and the way he tugged meat away from tiny bones. Tonight was the night, if Fuega hadn't been lying to him in order to get away. Tonight their love would produce the next generation. His head was swimming with thoughts as he focussed solely on the fish and destroying it's body; taking all the nutrients he could find. He'd have to keep strong to take care of Fuega during the birthing, which could take hours. And he'd likely have to fetch her food during contraction breaks if she felt so inclined. Maybe she'd even show up a bit early and dine with him. He let his thoughts roll by as he ate, soon finishing the small delicacy off and licking the scales from his lips.

The smallest rustlings could be heard as Fuega padded off in the direction she had taken the previous night. The path to get to him. The red one felt her chest clenching and unclenching with some unnamed fear as she continued on her way. Maddness was hunging in the fresh crisp air and it was her who was bringing it about. She had given birth before, the act itself was painful yes, but she also knew how beautiful it could be. How wonderful it was to bring forth new life, especially if it was built upon something solid. But, this....this was not that case. There was no strength here. Only confusion and fear.
And that would never suffice. What kind of pups would she have? What possibly tyranny was this that could make her act and feel this way. Would her offspring show it? These thoughts and more plagued her mind as she finally broke into the clearing near the lake, seeing the male she had bedded down with standing not to far away. She sat down on her haunches and merely watched him as he ate.

An ear flicked back as he licked himself and the bones clean. Slowly, he stopped, giving his lips one last run before turning his head slowly. Upon sighting Fuega, he seemed to become a whole new wolf. He rose to his feet, trotting easily over with a relaxed gate. He was still nervous, yes, but he wanted her to feel as comfortable as possible. This was obviously not a comfortable thing at all for her, but he knew he had to do something to at least dull the pain, if not ease it. When he came close, he halted, watching her plop down. She looked rounder, but not by much, as she must be having a small litter. His eyes focussed on her stomach for a few beats before they flickered back to her face.
"You're early..." He trailed off, wondering if she was under so much stress that it had caused her to lose track of time and arrive in the wrong moment.

At his words she ticked her icy blue eyes down to the ground, almost as if he had just accused her of doing something very wrong. This was wrong though. She had to be wolf enough to admit it. The lies, the cheating, and now this....now puppies, it was hard for her to wrap her head around. So badly did she want it to be over with, all of it. So badly did she just want to know what was to come, and that be that. But, for some reason when he uttered those worse, about her arrival, it seemed to hurt on the inside. Hurt bad.
"Is that a problem?" she asked, still staring into the dirt and grass.

"Of course not." He replied quickly, seeing the change in her and instantly moving closer, sitting opposite her and dropping his head so his eyes could catch hers. "Are you alright?" He asked softly at length, still studying her. This was going to be okay, he knew it. All he wanted to do was keep Fuega safe now... now that she was here. It was hard for him to understand what she must've been thinking about... what her head was pulling her through, but he could see in her eyes that this was wrong for her. She didn't want to be like this, and it saddened him somewhere inside.

She nodded, "I'm fine, Lumbre, just tired.....we have a long road ahead of us...." With the last part she finally dare to raise her eyes up. Loving the fact that she could say 'we' so freely now. They were going to have puppies. One night of the most passionate love making could produce something beautiful. And what they shared had been the same. Despite all the trauma and the hardships they were now going to create it'd never change that fact. Fuega sighed softly and moved her shoulders back a bit, stretching her sore muscles. Only time could say when her body would be ready, but she took comfort in knowin Lumbre would help her every step of the way.

"I know." His reply was again gentle, studying those icy eyes as they met his own mismatched pair. So beautiful and haunting they were, he could get lost in them forever and still not be satisfied. There was an unnamable comfort in them, and he wanted to bask in it. However, he couldn't. Now it was time to keep moving, to be prepared for anything. He had to be ready to protect her at any moment, keep on high alert. He straightened up some, his ears jumping to attention so nothing could escape them. They'd be alright because he'd defend her. "Are you hungry?" He watched her stretch, wondering what he could do to make her comfortable.

"No," she said shaking her head lightly, "not hungry." She was and she wasn't. True she had eaten not too long ago, but she still felt empty inside. It would be assumed that would be the causation of hunger. Deep hunger pains that needed to be filled with food. But, that was not the problem with Fuega's empty state of being. No, instead of something needing to go IN, her problem was that something needed to go OUT. And it was being to make her anxious and on edge?
"Can we leave now?" she asked, already pawing at the ground in a fidgeting motion.
