I'm actually a big fan of the song, but I've never heard Bubles version. I'll look it up on iTunes.

I gotta tell ya dude. I found Buble's version on the old iTunes and sampled it (They give you 30 second samples). I almost passed a verdict right then, but decided to buy the tune for 99 cents to make a better comparison. Of course I'm old and I own the Morrison version on CD. smile
Buble's version sounds sterile, and over-produced. It reminded me of what a Vegas lounge singer would sound like. Van has something Buble does not, at least on this track. Van has soul. Sure the song has a jazz structure to it somewhat, but it's really a soul song. It's dirty and gritty and sexy, yet it swings for sure. Buble swings it too much. He knows the music, but he doesn't feel the song it seems to me. I hated it. sad
Randy: Just didn't do it for me dog. Paula: Nice Effort! Simon: My Grandmother knows more about Moondancing...

I don't like Van Morrison. I'll just put that out there. So becasue of this, Buble is victorious, though I'm not a huge fan of the song, or either of them.

I prefer Van Morrison's version of the song. I don't mind Buble's version, but I found it somewhat unbelievable. Sort of like what Frustrated said, Buble doesn't seem to 'feel' the song. On top of that, I just plain didn't like his take on the song. It just didn't feel right.

Oh, I love Van Morrison, never get me wrong, but Micheal Buble *did* do a really good job, and personally, I like the backup band for buble better
So Micheal Buble wins this round
