She was hard-pressed to not say she was eager to see her brother and sister again; she had really missed them in the days she had been gone. She hadn't seen her father in a while either; so the feeling of "family" had disappeared, and she wanted to feel it again, to feel secure, loved, and generally just be with family. At the moment, she was searching for her younger brother, Bairn, bless his young heart... after hearing news from Astia, Aruna worried deeply about her brother.

She winced as she walked, however--the wound on her flank from Rahu was still healing... thank goodness she had made it to Miakoda before it had gotten too badly. She wanted to keep how she got it to herself... she knew that, eventually, she'd have to tell someone, but she didn't want anyone to know... She knew Rahu wouldn't care if she told someone or not, but she'd rather not... the memory would be painful to bring up... to relive... and to see it, to hear the words again, would bring back pain she didn't want to go through again. Shaking off her negative thoughts, she focused on searching for her brother and sister.

Bairn paced back and forth, trying to think about everything that has happened so far. That meeting with Astia wasn't necessarly like he thought it would be. She had possibly turned all his former thoughts around, but not quite. That mare wasn't the one who would bring the 'old' Bairn back...he'd rather have Artemis and Aruna to talk to.

The stallion nodded slowly, that was it. He needed to talk to his sisters. Artemis perferrably. Bairn hadn't seen his younger sibling for a while now, he wondered what she was up too. Definatly doing better then Aruna, he thought to himself. It pained him that he couldn't do anything about this whole Rahu deal, but Aruna could handle it by herself, couldn't she?

Since the talk with Astia, he had mixed feelings about everything in his life. First positive, then quickly changed to negative...now it was both. A small smile was planted on Bairn's face as he paced back and forth. He really needed to find Artemis, or even Aruna.

As she walked, she saw a splash of brown. Immediately, she recognized her younger brother. "Bairn!" She called, making haste toward him, trying not to appear to stiffen or limp as she walked toward him. "Bairn! I've been looking for you for ages! How've you been?" Aruna said as she approached him, finally. Her flank still ached... it had only been a few days since she last met Rahu. Thank goodness... Random scenes flashed through her mind about that night, and then Delano came to her rescue. Thanks to him, she'd gotten to Miakoda safely...

His head snapped back to glance at Aruna as she neared him. Not wanting his sister to see that he was 'different' as Astia called it, Bairn put on the best fake smile he could and bowed politely to his sister. "Hello there. I've been wonderful actually. The real question is, how are you...after everything with you-know...." The stallion let his setence trail off, not wanting her to get hurt by bringing up the subject again.
Not noticing the cut along her flank, he watched as Aruna approached him slowly, curious to know why she didn't move quicker. Perhaps this was just something that had to do with her getting over Rahu. Everyone dealt with their pain in different ways, Bairn now knew that to be only very true. After the talk with Astia...he had a glimmer of hope that perhaps things could go back to the way they were.

There was something different about her brother--sister's intuition. "All right. Tell me what's wrong, Bairn. Oh, and Rahu?" She was quiet for a moment, brooding for an answer that she hoped Bairn could take. "...I've moved on. There's... someone else. Someone better, this time. I promise. I'll let you meet him one day." She smiled happily, and then turned a scrutinizing glare on her brother. "All right. I've heard a few rumors that have been disturbing. What's wrong? And that fake smile isn't helping. Older sister's intuition, you know."

Bairn only shook his head, he wasn't about to tell her of his talk with Astia, or about the fact that his life had gone down hill ever since the start of this 'relationship' she had with Rahu. "Nothing, nothing I promise." A slight chuckle escaped his throat, trying to make his words as believable as possible. It hurt to lie to his sister, but he couldn't talk about that right now. They needed to talk about her.
Aruna's next words left the stallion in complete shock. "You have? Aruna that...you can't have just gotten over someone like Rahu so quickly. This stallion you've now fallen for is probably no better then Rahu. You do fall for the 'bad' guys." He laughed, already his mood was picking up. Just seeing his sister with a smile on her face made him the happiest brother.
"If I meet him and I don't like him, I will go find father and together we'll hunt him down and chat with him." Barin told Aruna, putting on a serious face. He wasn't about to let another Rahu happen.
The glare she gave him after that was sligtly disturbing. The stallion tore his eyes away from hers and stared rather at the ground. The way she looked at him told Bairn she knew something. Perhaps she actually did talk to Astia, or Mahiri if anything.
"I assure you, I'm alright now."

She sighed. Had her brother no sense of time? She hadn't gotten over Rahu that quickly--it had taken months on end until that one final night a few days prior. Things had been settled over... her new scar was the indication of that night and a few promises. Moving so that Bairn never, ever could take notice of said scar, she sighed sadly. It hurt to know that Bairn was lying to her about being fine. She and her brother were very close, but in the last few months or so, it seemed they had drifted away from each other.

She laughed, however, at what Bairn said. "I'm afraid my new interest is far too gallant to do anything as stupid as Rahu did, dearest. And, well, excuse me for falling for the 'bad' guys." It wasn't like it was her intention--you don't know you're falling until bam! you realize that you had. When Bairn laughed, her smile widened. "You shall meet him, brother dearest, and trust me, both you and Father will just love him. Well, not the way I do, but you understand." She winked to show she was just teasing. "I met Astia the other day! I've missed the girl--but poor thing, she seemed so down!" Aruna said lightly, hoping her brother would get a clue and have it 'click' so that he would actually talk to her.

He could see in her eyes that she was upset over something, he knew that she knew. Aruna's eyes, the way she looked at him told the stallion that she knew he was lying about 'being fine'. Shrugging to himself, Bairn didn't push the subject furthur then it was already going.
"Really? Well then I'm defiantly going to have to meet this erm....stallion. What may I ask is his name? Aruna you seriously must be carefull though, you never know what might happen and who might do it." The stallion nodded slowly at his sister. Deep inside him, he was glad that Aruna was in love again, that would help with the whole Rahu situation. But that also meant that his past emotions were all pointless if all this time she was happy and he didn't know it.
His sister's next words didn't surprise him, he had the feeling earlier that they 'talked'. About him most likely too. Nodding again, Bairn spoke in a soft voice. "Really now? I've had a recent chat with her myself. She's just down because she's beginning to realize that what I said to her is the truth."

Aruna knew from her brother's expression that he knew she knew that something was up. She and her brother were very, very close, so if he was upset about something, so was she, and obviously, vice-versa. "Yes, really!" She grinned. "Well, if you ever meet up with him, his name is Delano." She sighed. "Yes, Bairn, I know, I know. I promise to be careful... by the way, Delano is a unicorn. Will that lift your worries?"

Aruna watched her sibling carefully. "The truth, you say? And, what truth is that? Brother, you worry me more than when you worry over me." She wondered if what she just made said made sense, then shrugged it off. "Bairn, what 'truth' is this? You..." Her eyes widened a bit. "I cannot believe it! Bairn, how could you be so cruel!? To yourself and Tia!?" Aruna wasn't know for speaking nicknames too often, and yet, this proved that she had most definitely changed.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 23, 2006 12:17 pm

"Delano? Interesting name. It's very..." Bairn paused for a moment and tried to process what she just said. "A unicorn? YOU fell in 'love' with a unicorn?" A very shocked expression lay planted on his face as he spoke, holding back a very big laugh.
It just didn't seem right to him, Aruna wasn't the type of mare to fall in love with a unicorn. She always seemed the type to like someone less....mystical. Still trying to hold back his laugh, the stallion nodded. "In a way, it does, yes."
"If that makes any sense umm...we worry eachother I suppose. But the truth? You should know, didn't you and Astia already discuss this?" A smug look took away the 'happy' face he had seconds earlier. "I wasn't being cruel to myself and Astia needed to understand. why I was acting the way I was."

"Bairn!" Aruna said, indignant, even as a bright flush took over her face. She could tell he wanted to laugh. "Don't laugh! It's... It's..." she stuttered, half-heartedly glaring at her brother. She felt a smile form, however, on her lips and then she herself burst out in soft laughter. "Okay, fine. It's... humorous. But it's not funny concerning my feelings." She frowned at him, and then eyed him. "I know, I know. As a sensible kind of mare, it's hard to believe I fell in love with a unicorn, isn't it? But I'm glad it eases your worry." She shook her head. "I only got what Tia understood from you. I want a real explanation. I think you confused her slightly, brother dear. You weren't being cruel, and you wanted her to understand. You should have just said that you just couldn't love her that way." Aruna shook her head, disappointed slightly. "Tia's strong Bairn. If you layed it all out to her softly, she'd get confused... so... why, brother, why, can you not love her?"

He couldn't help himself anymore and just burst out laughing as soon as she did. It was just so unbelievably funny, it didn't make any sense. "Sorry sis. I know, I was a tad out of line." Bairn looked at her sadly, hoping he didn't make her feel bad about her choice on who to love.
"Yes, it is hard to believe, but I'll have to take it and get used to it if I'm going to see little mini half unicorns running around soon." The stallion's smile softened, he was slowly getting used to the fact that she had found love again, with someone better.
Nodding his head in understanding to her next words, Bairn sighed. "I think I confused myself with what I said to her, everything just doesn't make any sense anymore. I don't know...." His voice trailed off, before continueing a few moments later. "You're right, I wanted her to understand. I just want her to see the world as I do, as WE do, my love." He didn't really want to answer her question, but he couldn't just ignore his own sister.
"Why? Because I'm afraid too. If me and Astia were to have the love that father and mother have, I'd be the happiest stallion...but what if we were apart like they are? I know they're both bothered by the fact they rarely see eachother, they just don't show it in front of us, so we don't get scared. I cannot stand the fact of barely seeing my mate, Aruna. I hate being seperated from you or mother for even 1 day. I grew used to Artemis and father never being around...but I still long for them."

She blushed again at his words. "Ba-Bairn! We're not that... it's..." She felt at a loss of words for his comment. "You weren't out of line... don't look at me like that. It's... just fun." Aruna shook her head. "I think I understand how Mother and Father felt, now, when they were happily in love... and still are happily in love."

She raised her brow at him. "Confused yourself? I'd rather say you're still doubting yourself, my dear. Nothing makes sense when it comes to love. Take from your big sister. I've dealt with it." She closed her eyes, breathing slowly. "You want her to see..." Aruna stared at her brother, stunned. "Bairn! I'm afraid that Astia is the way she because she knows far more than we do!

"How can you say that? Did she tell you of her old herd? Did she even tell you she used to live in a herd? Or at least, could you not see past her happiness that was truly a mask... to see her sadness...?" Bairn's next words, however, floored her. "...so... that's why." Aruna shook her head. "Bairn, Father doesn't hide that.

"Yes, we both know it bothers them... but Father and Mother... they deal with it. They're perfectly fine with it. They both knew that it would happen--it's not their fault. It's because the... the humans... they live with... live all seperately." She understood her brother well. She was afraid, too, to be seperated from those she loved dearly.

"I cannot stand the fact that our family is apart, either, Bairn. It hurts more than you know. But... we're wild soquili. It's the way we are. We're not domestic. If we were to live in a herd, perhaps then..." Aruna trailed off. She didn't like the idea of living in a herd, but if it was to bring her family together, she would. Her poor brother... was this what was going on?

"Alright, sorry." He told her, wiping the goofy smile off his face. It was just too funny to pass off. "Then you're lucky if you feel the way they feel. It's rare, that love."

Listening to her words, Bairn spoke rather softly. "Just to love? Nothing makes sense in life. Perhaps I am doubting myself, I'm not sure." The stallion grinned at his sister, she knew how to deal with him when he was like this, and he couldn't himself.

"Yes she did...I just..." He paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. Aruna was definatly right with everything she had said to him so far. "Nevermind..."

"They deal with it for us. If they never had you, Artemis or I they wouldn't be able to be seperated for long." Bairn suddently felt a small hatred for the young boy he lives with, the one that keeps Mahiri away from her mate.

"I don't care if that's the way we are, I hate it. I hate it to the point where I almost want to hate father for leaving mother alone for so long. You should see her, Aruna. She barely leaves the teepee...ever. I fear her playfullness could leave her at any moment. I don't want to live in a herd. I just want our parents and Artemis to be around for us, always. And there's another thing I'm afraid of. Having a child that would end up like Artemis. It hurts mother and father enough, but having a grandchild do the same would kill them, along with me."

"Apology accepted, you goof," she said, chuckling. "Yes, I suppose I'm lucky..." she didn't want to tell him that she was still slightly in love with Rahu. She had moved on, but letting go was hard. She was unsure of herself as much as her brother was unsure of himself.

"They deal with it for us... yes, they do." Aruna shook her head sadly. If Miakoda found out about this, she wouldn't be moving away from her old teepee. Of course, she also didn't want to let her brother know that Hania and her were moving closer to their family, though Miakoda was going to live with someone else, now.

"...Please don't hate Father," Aruna whispered, suddenly sounding pained. "I..." she paused, wondering how to explain. "Father doesn't really leave the teepee, either, Bairn. He's gotten duller... I'm not sure about Mother, but Father's lost his sense of spirit.

"It pains me to tell you this, Bairn, but I was hoping to keep it secret until your troubles were dealt with." Aruna paused again, swallowing. "And... I was hoping to not ever tell you, to be truthful. I... I was wanting my problems to be dealt with as well...

"I suppose it's my fault," she whispered. "Since I'm away from the teepee all the time, our bonded human has become insanely dependant on Father, which is what keeps him at the teepee. He's sick, Bairn," Aruna's golden eyes glittered strangely. "Not physically, but mentally. He really misses Mother."

She felt horrible. As the oldest, she had been so occupied with herself that things had gotten way beyond what she could fix back at the teepee. Even Miakoda looked a bit haggard... not even her new friend, Krouw, could help. Something was amiss... perhaps Miakoda could feel Hania's sadness. The two had a very special bond; maybe close enough that they could read each other's minds.

She shook her head. "You're terrified, aren't you?" she asked bluntly. "You're that scared, aren't you?" She turned away to look up at the sky. "Then just leave the teepee. You don't have to deal with Bliss, you don't have to deal with Mother. Just leave the teepee once... once you find a mate.

"If you're that terrified of being seperated from your mate, and then having a child end up like our sister, then stay with whomever your mate is in the future. You can run wild. You can do as you please, without a worry in the world. Father would do that himself--he would do that, and spend as much time as he could with Mother. But... no."

Aruna's eyes glinted. "I never liked my human in the first place, but I've grown used to her. Miakoda is partially the reason Father doesn't visit as often as he should." She closed her eyes. "If you think you're having difficulties, Bairn, I suppose I am, too. I have more to worry about than you think.

"I'm worried about Father. I'm worried about Mother. You. Astia. Bliss. Myself. Artemis. Perhaps I shouldn't feel so burdened. Perhaps I should stop worrying about others. But our family, with its seperation, has become a family that cannot seem to love over a distance...

"So..." She paused again. Should she tell him? Should she tell her brother that she and their father were moving into a new teepee, with another human? With other Soquili? ...With Astia's human? Opening her eyes, she studied her brother. "Do what you can, Bairn. That's all I can advise."
