Sir Duke is fun.
As odd as this sounds, I want to find a way to do Alice's Restaurant with a band..

DrkMerchant Do you use Finale? I'd like to take a look at yaur arrangement of Superstiton. yeah, i use Finale Notepad. what i did was i added a solo section, gave the trombones stuff to play, made up a riff or two, and made the ending a break instead of a fade out. i also split the ending into a "call and response" between the saxes and brass.

If you get it legally, it can be a bit expensive, but if you download it on the other hand... xp

Finale Notepad is free. It's pretty good, but you can't do key changes mid song (as far as I can tell) and I have yet to figure out how to get double sharps or flats on it.

You should probably listen to Ash. Without a manual, those programs can be a b***h to figure out. (I still havn't figured out Finale)

I think I remember changing keys with the key change tool, to get double sharps or flats. But I don't know how to just put them directly into your music.

I love finale. It's such an awesome program, and for entering key changes, just click the key signature tool and double click the measure that you want to change. The options settings for that should be self-explanitory sweatdrop . Well, that's for Finale 2006, I'm not sure about notepad though. And to get double sharps or flats, sharpen/flatten the note, and then click the "+1/2" or "-1/2" button and click the sharpened/flattened note. If anyone has questions about Finale I'd be happy to assist! biggrin
...Sibelius, on the other hand, frustrates me to no end.
Oh! And yes, I've transcribed quite a few songs, some which are still in progress, and an arrangement of "Julia" by Nobuo Uematsu xd

Yeah. I don't think notepad has those options. I suppose there MUST have been something left out, or else people wouldn't bother buying the full version.

i want to get this Finale program that records what you play onto music, cuz that would be cool. that way i could write stuff out by ear, play it on my sax and Finale would record it. i thought of it recording the song straight from the CD, but then it would get confused with the other parts. plus, it's good practice by ear and i am a very proud musician. 3nodding
