Trees were trees. Most were green, had leaves, and were held up with trunks. Despite this, Triv'an was still awed by the jungle.
It was true, were trees. Unless there were so many you could barely navigate through them. And these trees seemed especialy tree-like. Leaves more leafy then any others, trunks winding amazingly around eachother in intricate unnavigatable fashions.
The large pale male made his way through this maze of foliage with a certain air of uncertainty and aimlessness. Probably because he didn't know where he was going, or why. And for the first time in a long time he found himself not caring.
What a silly thing, to wind his life around something so ephemeral.
It would have continued as such for quite awhile, except for his incredible misfortune. An inattentive misstep, a slight slide, an unseen dip, and the lion was sliding down an incline, and into a hidden stream.
"Agh!"
Decidely unmanly, it was true, but before he had a chance to consider his embarasment his head was particaly submerged in the deeper then it seemed water.

Hasana didn't like the jungle.
No, correction. Hasana hated the jungle. Two feet into the place she'd gotten her foot caught on a vine and had a hell of a time biting the damn thing off. Following that, she'd somehow managed to NOT see the giant rock her zebra-striped form tripped over.
Tripped over and fell face first into a huge pile of mud.
As expected for an already grumpy individual, she wasn't in a good mood by time she caught scent of water and headed toward it. Other lions? She'd just ignore them. Or at least she WOULD have. If only she hadn't come across the male when he toppled into the water.
She wouldn't lie. Seeing someone else having a horrible day was delightful to her. Laughing lightly, she approached and batted at the water, calling out loudly, "Hey! You alright?"

The water was deeper then he thought, but it wasn't that deep. After he stopped flailing like a royal fool (which was forgivable, lions don't like water), he managed to stand up fully, head and top of his back fully out of the water.
With a slightly neurotic head twitch he dragged himself out of the stream, the black and white, not to mention laughing, female not but a foot from him. Now, Triv'an was not particularly vindictive, but water was not something he had any liking for.
"Yes," he replied lowly, and then without much consideration, shook his mane roughly, managing to splatter a three foot radius entirely with water. The jungle wasn't so friendly it seemed.
"Are you though?" he asked, a slight eyebrow raise not nearly as impressive as it would have been had he not been a damp mess. He noted a bit of mud on the females crisp coat. Seemed a bit out of place to him.

When you thought about it, Hasana had no right to laugh at anyone, looking like she did. Hell, she'd met her best friend because he'd mistaken her for food and tried to eat her. Logic like that didn't keep her mouth closed, though. Not to mention her pattern wasn't all that visible with the mud covering her.
She growled a bit, mostly out of instinct, when the water hit her. If she hadn't planned on getting in it anyway she'd probably have thrown a fitr.
"Yeah," the lioness answered, stepping back just slightly before diving into the water with a loud splash. A few rolls later and she was clean. Very wet, but clean.
Out of the water to shake off. Afterward, she turned back to face the male, sat down and smirked as if to say, 'Ha! Shake water on ME will you?'
What she actually said was different. "I'm Hasana."

'Crazy she-lion,' he thought with shock, shaking a bit more reflexivly as she jumped into the stream. He backstepped a bit, onto a bit less muddy ground, and sat down stiffly, licking at his legs while still keeping an eye on the stream.
She emerged, and managed to shake water on him in turn. He supposed he couldn't complain, even if she had laughed at him. Afterall, he was the one who had fallen into a stream.
He breathed in slowly and nodded at her calmly, managing a small smile.
"Hello Hasana, my name is Triv'an."
She was much more clearly colored when clean. She looked like a zebra, imagine that.
"I haven't met another lion in awhile, did I stumble on someone's land on accident?"

"Triv'an," she echoed, trying the name out. Sounded weird. Then again, all of them did to her. Even her own.
At the question, her ears twitched. Her head moved in an odd direction to glance over her shoulder, her eyes giving away she expected someone to be there. Looking back to him, she shrugged her furry shoulders cluelessly.
"I don't know," was her answer. "I'm not sure about all the...boundries and things these 'prides' seem to have set. As far as I know, you didn't. I haven't seen anyone here except you."

He continued licking at his paws distractedly. Normaly he wouldn't have been so rude, but being wet was such an uncomfortable feeling. Almost like being dirty.
He was so intent he didn't notice her moment of paranoia and only looked up again she she spoke up, the expression on his face one of shock over disbeliefe.
"You aren't part of a pride?"
He suddenly laughed, genuninely amused. He had sounded so amazed, but it was quite a silly thing to be surprised by. Afterall, he hadn't been part of a pride for a long time, and it didn't look like he would be again.
"Well, that is good I suppose, some aren't so glad to have others on their lands," he added, setting his paw back down onto the ground.
"What brings you here then?"

Ugh.
The next lion(ess) who asked her that was getting their throat clawed out, Hasana decided. What did it matter so much, anyway? Was being independant not a good thing to these crazy lions?
"No, I'm not," she answered flatly. When he laughed, Hasana looked confused. What was so amusing about it? "I just wander around," she continued. "That's why I'm here. Why are YOU here?"

Perhaps it was a rude question to ask, or at least in that tone.
It was strange though. He had spent most- Or, rather... he hadn't. For some reason the few years he was part of a pride always seemed like the biggest years. Afterwards there was only looking, searching, hoping for home.
Well that wasn't all, but he had no claim to anything else anymore.
"I see. Me? I am here because... I have no where else to be. I am sorry for being so nosey, it really wasn't my buisness, I just haven't seen anyone else in awhile."

Sorry for...? Oh, he was one of those types. He reminded her of her brother--at least how she remembered him. It had been so long since she'd encountered her sibling, and honestly, if he had dropped dead somewhere she wouldn't be more than mildly surprised at most.
"Calm down, it's fine," she assured him, her tone of voice noticeablely lighter. "I get a bit huffy about the question by default. So far everyone who's asked me has thrown the fact they're in some pride in my face. The Fire-whatever are the worst."
Recalling the memory of that cub, it was all she could do not to make a disgusted face. So high and mighty, most pride lions...

Triv flicked his tail distractedly then wrapped it around his legs calmly. He felt mostly dry, and it allowed him to settle down a bit. He hadn't been himself in weeks really, so falling into a stream was really just the most recent cause of moodiness. However, he tried to be logical and think things over, and he knew that he was being silly, and had been.
He had left of his own accord, and that was that.
"Ah, I can't blame you then. I think that most lions have at least some conviction about their prides. They are, afterall, their families. I can't say anything positive about the Firekin though."
His voice was calm and even, much more his usual tone, even if the last bit did trail off a little darkly. He didn't have the hate that Kizuka had for the Firekin, but he far from liked them, and despite the fact he was generaly rather pacifistic he would have not problem fighting with one.
"Have you never had a pride then?"

Ironicly enough, Hasana was more bothered she was drying off. Places around here were too damn hot, in her opinion. This area wasn't particularly bad because of all the shade, but still...
"Not that I'm aware of." And she'd leave it at that. Perhaps she had been when she was younger. Too young to remember. As an after thought she added, "But I've got plenty of a family. I've got a twin brother and a sister. I haven't seen them for a while, but I'm positive that doesn't rule them out just the same."

"Oh," Triv'an liked his pride when they were there. He felt like he could count on them. Perhaps they were false memories, of an idylic youth he created to comfort himself when he had nothing else.
Family was important though, "Of course they aren't ruled out. Your family is your family wherever they are."
She seemed so confident in the way she lived. He wondered if she was lonely though. He had never been without at least one other lion before. These weeks had been... eye opening. It's not like he needed them, he hunted well, took care of himself. But talking, and even not talking were things he had never believed he would miss as much as he did.
"So, you just go wherever you want?"

Hasana showed not even the slightest indication she was lonely. Then again, the display of any weakness had yet to come from her. But, truly, the feeling of loneliness wasn't one she'd ever found herself caught up in.
She spoke to a ton of lions. Just different ones, in different places. Sure, days went by with no communication, but it really wasn't as bad as people thought. Silence is golden... or something like that.
"Basically," the lioness confirmed. "It's easy enough when you don't really belong anywhere." Which also didn't bother her from the sound of it. Pride? Who needs 'em.

"Really? And you've never found anywhere you wanted to stay before?"
How intriguing. Triv hadn't wanted to be anywhere except for his home. Of course, that place was gone, devoured by sand and time. He had traveled to places though, places he liked almost enough to stay in. He always left them though, sometimes his idea, sometimes Kizuka's. The place in his memories always seemed better.
Oh, listen to him though. Nothing but memories and the past. He was a dead lion it seemed, nothing left anymore but the past. He couldn't really confine himself in a place that didn't exist anywhere but in his mind, things didn't work that way.
"I have found myself in a similar situation as of late," he added, feeling a strange need to tell someone. Triv'an didn't tend to be talkative, but weeks without any conversation made even him a bit chatty.
