Which is better: reading a play or performing it onstage?

Which is better: the original book or the play based upon it?

I still have to see "Wicked", but the book is gonk so emotionally wrenching. My goodness. Reading on the transformations of the characters, especially Elphaba, is even better than pie or ice cream. And, for the diehard fans, is the soundtrack decent?

I think performing or seeing a play performed is so much better than just reading the script. You get so much more of the effect than if you're just reading it. For example, last year I did a project on The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds for my theater class in school, so I just read the play. This year I actually got to see the show, and it was only then that I fully realized just how powerful that play is, how moving it actually is.

And as far as the Wicked soundtrack goes, I havn't seen the show, but I have the soundtrack, and I absolutly adore it. If you don't have it, you'll definatly be wanting it.

Seeing the play is definetly much better than reading the script. That was my favorite part about English last year, because all of the other classes had to read the scripts to things like Streetcar and Death of a Salesman, but we watched it instead. You get so much more out of it.

Seeing the better is better than reading it. And if you can see a play with professional actors rather than reading it in class and falling asleep (it usually bored me, no matter how good the play) do it.

I think the book is better than the play because it has a lot more stuff the play can't have. Especially Les Miserables. It has a lot of stuff in it the play can't have, one bit, the legend of the town is my favorite.

depends on the play, for example i thin Most shakesphere is much better preformed but there are a lot of just straight plays that i get better read because the acting is off or i cant keep track of the characters or everthing repeats it self and i get bored and subconsiously stop paying attention, Father of the bride is like that for example. Musicals are always cool preformed because even if there really bad you can at least laugh. as for as book to play dunno still depends it all depends on how its preformed and what the soundtracks like and what the books like too.
