My name is Mike. i'm 23. I like to watch movies and walk downtown and through the trails in my city. I also love to read and write. I'm currently unemployed, but within a week or two I should have my GED and then that will make things much easier.
As you can probably tell with that last sentence, I am slowly gettng my life on track. I admit that there are a lot of imperefections as well. sweatdrop But that's what makes us human. So I'm [usually] okay with that.
Well if you want to ask me something just send a private message.

Thanks for asking. I love reading graphic novels and mysteries that also have some elements of horror in them. Romance is alright once in a while but right now I haven't read much of anything except for school work and the occasional forum topics that I have looked over.
As well as reading poetry, I can kind of write it as well. I don't think I'm that good, but I do admit some of my poems are done very well.
Other then that I don't read much except for little things.

I love poetry. specially Emily Dickinson and e.e. cummings. I write a little too. We've got a poetry thread where you can post some of your poems if you'd like.
I love horror novels. What are some good mysteries with horror elements? I'm always on the look out for new books/authors.
I'm really interested in graphic novels, American Comics and Manga. They all look so interesting. But they also all seem to have a bunch of backstory that I don't know, so I'm scared to start any. Do you have any suggestions on where to start?

Well I really enjoyed reading the manga for Hellsing. I haven't bought the second book yet but it's very entertaining. As for the mystery / horror, I don't have exact authors. I can reccomend reading anything [fictional] by Ted Dekker. He's what got me interested in 'pshycological thrillers'. Not all of them have a mysterious background, but all of them [that I've read so far] are great. If you are interested then read his book titled 'BLACK'. It's a trilogy that has a lot of good stuff in it. The second book is one of the best examples of romance I have ever read. Seriously. But anyway, that's just a suggestion. sweatdrop
As for graphic novels I think that 'Watchmen' is a must. It's longer then most. It's like a novel but with pictures. whee
The Bone Series has a lot of fantasy elemetns in it with dragons, but it also has a humorous twist to it. Lots of comic relief. Also, it's one of the only things I've read with a grandma who can totally kick a**. surprised confused I bet that isn't new though, but I wouldn't know. We don't have too many graphic novels / mangas in this area. gonk

I've heard of Watchmen and Helsing before. I'll have to check them out.
The Bone Series sounds interesting.
Thanks for the suggestions. xd
Do you have any favorite poets?

Only myself. rofl Nah, I just like to read poetry. Eh, dubt you're interested but I know a site that is all about writting. Essays, Short Stories, Poetry, and all that stuff... And the people in that site will tell you what they think so you can work on it. But fair warning, most of those people are stuck up. And if you join [or look around the site long enough] you'll know what I mean. It's called concentricus. Another site I know of is Bolt. It's not that different from Gaia except there is no avatars and the emphasis isn't just on forums. They also have 'tagbooks'. They're just part of the profile you make. The point of them is to have questions you want to ask others and people respond to you any way they wish. No filter at all though, so if that bothers you then delete the response. Although it's mostly for questions, you can also post whatever else you want there. Even perverted stuff. xp

Thanks. I'll check those out. Have you ever heard of Writing.com? It another site where you can post poems, stories, essays, etc. and have people read and review them. The poeple there are pretty nice. Nicer than the people in the writer's forum on Gaia anyway. xd

Hmmm...I only have a casual knowledge of DA. I've looked at some art there, but since I'm not an artist I'm not a member. But I'd say probably. You get what's called a portfolio where you can tell people about yourself and post your work. You can read, rate and review other people's work and they can do the same for you.

Cassandra Sandsmark Welcome to relief from gaia's teenage population. Ohhh! I love the Watchmen! biggrin My sister's into Bone but I never really got into it. There's a rumor that I heard a while back that someone is planning on making a movie for Watchmen, but I doubt they can bring out the characters well enough. I hope they get it right though. Said it would be in the fall of this year. wink ananda082001 Hmmm...I only have a casual knowledge of DA. I've looked at some art there, but since I'm not an artist I'm not a member.
