1.

Rin looked up from the flowers she was collecting. “Jaken-sama, will Sesshomaru-sama come back?” she questioned worriedly. Her lord had been gone for several days; tomorrow would be exactly one week.

“Stupid girl! Why would Sesshomaru-sama return for such a weakling! He would be rid of such an useless human!” Jaken screeched back.

Rin turned to the green toad and replied, “But he left you too.”

Sputtering angrily, Jaken couldn’t find a decent retort to Rin’s innocent observation. He raised his Staff of Heads and struck Rin. “Insolent girl! Sesshomaru-sama would never lea--”

A cool voice broke through the retainer’s rambling, “Jaken.”

A shiver began at the base of the said demon’s spine and worked its way up.

Then there was a familiar yet eerie whistling in the air.

Jaken’s world went dark.

Kagome sighed and snuggled deeper into her covers. It was deliciously warm and comfortable in the midwinter night.

Her brow furrowed when something nudged her side. “Ten more minutes, Mama…” she mumbled sleepily, curling into the warmth.

But the nudging persisted. The teen aged girl made an incomprehensible noise in the back of her throat. Perhaps it wasn’t Mama… Maybe Buyo? Extracting an arm from under her covers, she waved haphazardly, “Buyo, I don’t have it.” She quickly shoved her arm back in, warming it under her arms.

When the nudging got more frequent, she frowned and swatted the offending object, “Buyo! Go away! I don’t have your cat toys!”

There was a pause before the nudge landed a bit more heavily on her side, accompanied by an irritated growl.

At the sound, Kagome’s eyes snapped open and met the burning glare of one very irate dog demon. The fine hairs behind her neck were raised and all the mental signals were flashing “DANGER! DANGER!” A shiver ran down her spine as she gazed back at the golden-eyed demon.

“This Sesshomaru is not the “Buyo” you speak of. And this Sesshomaru is not a cat.” He said icily. With a well-controlled flick of his wrist, he jerked the furry stole from underneath the girl. She tumbled out with a yelp into the snow.

She glared at his pristine head as he rearranged the fur around his shoulder. Her teeth chattered as she tried not to shiver, hunting for her parka.

"Oi! Fluffster!" Inuyasha angrily shouted, "What are you doing here?!" He reached for the hilt of the Tetsusaiga.

Wordlessly, Sesshomaru ignored the coarse hanyou, turning towards Kagome instead. The only indication that he had even heard Inuyasha was a barely there twitch of his fingers.

"Miko."

Kagome reached into her yellow bag and extracted a spiral bounded notebook. "Here. I just finished translating it for Rin."

The silver haired demon silently nodded his thanks and turned to leave. But the quiet exchange was interrupted by Inuyasha.

"Kagome! What are you doing?!" he shrieked.

As Inuyasha continued his tirade, Sesshomaru pondered as to how many ways he could silence the loud and rather crude halfling.

He imagined sealing those annoying lips together with his poison. Perhaps slicing away the tongue that formed those crass words. A simple hole through the body might stop the lungs that allowed that loud volume.

Then again, he detested having to dirty his claws with the filthy hanyou.

"I knew it! You're sleeping with him!"

"..." He narrowed his eyes at that accusation

Sesshomaru supposed he could make an exception this time.

In his mental eye, he saw Inuyasha's body writhing in pain as the poison ate away within his body. He would enjoy the image for a few moments before neatly separating the head from the body with a swipe of his claws.

If one was to observe closely, it could be seen...

That slight curve at the corners of his lips.

The very sight on that impossible expression on the frigid lord immediately stopped Inuyasha.

Even Kagome couldn't even manage to say her infamous "Sit Boy!" to punish him.

Shippo shivered and scrambled to hide. From his perch on Kagome's shoulder, he whispered, "Scary..." All she could was nod in agreement.
