Do any of you other guys like Maxim Vengerov? For lack of a better word, he's like my role model. I love his style and the way he connects with his instrument and seems to break away from reality. And talk of uber-speed! Does anyone else out there enjoy this Siberian virtuoso?

I remember reading an article about him in STRINGS a year or so ago. I'll have to dig the issue out again. At that point in time I was depressed about violin because my Meningitis wouldn't let me play. I've heard that I need to learn his bow shoulder technique, however.

Vengerov is also somethign of a role model to me. he always plays with great fury and passion, and, in my opinion, it really sets him apart from other performers. do you have a favourite recording?

I haven't heard them all, but I love the "Vengerov & Virtuosi" CD. It's hard to pick a fave song. They're all so awesome. I do like his Csardas, because of the songbird imitation among other things. I also like "Ronde de les Lutins" --if that's the correct title.
