I'm a bit of a Rachmaninov fanatic! I've recetly played Prelude in C# Minor for a concert and will do again later in the year. I'm also studying it for my music GCSE, as well as playing his preludes in G minor, A minor, B minor, G# Minor and E major. I'm also playing his Theme of Paganini arranged for piano solo as well as his Vocalise. Does anyone else like him?

I am very fond of him. I've had the pleasure of heard his second piano concerto with the Hartford symphony, as well as his third at the Hartt School with Luiz de Moura Castro as the soloist. Now the latter, THAT was an experiance!

My choir is singing the "bogoroditse devo" movement from his vespers this semester, again. This time around, we've got a choir conductor who is passionate about slavonic music, and she makes a really big deal over dynamics, which is great, because the choir can make the piece breathe as it was intended. It's going to take some time to unlearn my memorized timing and pronunciation from five years ago though. And also the part where I previously hopped down to the tenor I part for a few bars... it's hard to stay on the alto line now.
But back on topic, Rachmaninov=musical genius. I especially love his choral compositions.

Yes, I love his vespers^_^ My favorite is Voskresenie Kristovo Videshve. I would love to know all the words, let alone be able to sing them... Maybe I'll suggest it to the head of music (she conducts choir)...
