Hey. I'm trying to learn french and spanish and a good way to learn is to sing songs in that language. So i was wondering if anyone know like the popular modern songs in french and spanish? I listen to Rammstein which they sing in German. Tatu that speaks Russian. This group that sings in gaelic. If there's anyone who know any good italian or portguese songs, list them. Thank you rolleyes

Modern like contemporary?
here there is a page where you can listen to it: http://www.bdp.it/intercultura/buon_viaggio/unita'/gatta/inizio.htm

Thank you rolleyes Yup ! Definitely agree with you ! The spanish songs that are on my Mp3 right now and who helped me a grat deal with spanish are those two: Juanes - "La Camisa Negra" Alejandro Sanz y Shakira - "La Tortura"As for french songs, if I were you I would try some Celine Dion french songs. My favourites are "On ne change pas" and "Pour que tu m'aimes encore", "Sous le vent" and "Tous les secrets". Also , Joe Dassin songs such as "La colline" or "Salut les amoureux" seem pretty easy to understand to me. Hope this helps biggrin

When it comes to French, I'm a sucker for Edith Piaf, but she might be a bit odd to many.
Spanish, the only person who jumps to mind is Shakira.

I love wikipedia.
French rock music Category:French Singers List of French Hip Hop musicians
Spanish rock music Category: Spanish singers
I use to search with my file sharing program for the bands mentioned there. That's the way I found Guerilla Poubelle, for example. (French punk rock heart I'd list the French and Spanish bands I listen to, but I doubt you want to listen to punk and metal, ne?)
If you found somebody you like, use google to search for lyrics. Simple as it is. And if you really, really like that artist, buy their recordings either via amazon, ebay, second hand shops or ask some pen pal or somebody who will visit that country.

An awesome Italian song is 'Senzafine' by Lacuna Coil...however, try and get the acoustic version, because it's the clearest pronounciation, and the male singer doesn't scream when he sings in this version. Nothing distracts you more than a guy screaming 'Maaadrreeeeee!' at the top of his lungs...

As for Spanish, you might try listening to some Selena. It's fom the 80's-90's, I believe. Not exactly modern, but I actually like it. Shakira is pretty good too.
