I AM THE EVILEST TITLER OF ALL.
--------------------
Dr. M shuffled along the streets of Gaia with his head tucked low in his jacket collar like a turtle trying to recede into its shell. He had no love for the realm of Gaia and its busy streets. Sometimes he did not completely mind it, like when the company was right (Dr. Akari came to mind) but today Dr. M was alone.
He felt eyes on him. Normally he had the idea he was being watched, but out on the crowded streets his delusion became reality. Among Gaia's many-colored denizens his short, humanlike figure with its long white lab coat and opaque white glasses stuck out a sore thumb. He had left his only disguise, the white paper cat ears, at home.
He was glad when he was able to turn off the main streets and into a residential area. He had memorized the map of Gaia's lands and proceeded along exactly, mentally recording additional detail and landlmarks and correcting smal things. For example, on the map the distance between 8th and 9th streets and the distance between 9th and 10 was identical, but in reality, the walk from 8th to 9th was slightly shorter than the walk to 10th, by five steps to be exact.
M's corrections came to an end when he found himself standing in front of the house number he was looking for. He scanned the building for some signs of life, and some clue as to the nature of the denizens, their taste and style.

Not long after Dr. M reached the door, something strange happened. As if someone had been waiting for him, the door began to creak open.
"Ousai, ousai!" came a childish cry, a little tail thumping against the white door as something seemed to hang off the doorknob. Gold, furry ears could be spotted as well.
"Ah! Manny... Please settle down," the black haired elf said calmly from the couch. "Raylan, let Roswell out from the cupboard. I told you not to lock him in there."
"Y-yes, Miss Sora," the small feien obeyed, pulling open the kitchen cabinet to release the purple feien from inside. He quickly ducked down as the smaller feien bolted out and ran himself right into the wall.
Finally, Manior released the door and toddled into view, looking up at the man at the door with very large gold eyes. His tail began to sway left and right, his ears perking up a little bit.
"Hoo yoo?" he asked with a curious grin.

Dr. M stared at the child incredulously. He had little tolerance for children, especially if they were loud and uncontrolled, as he suspected this one to be. His eyes followed the sway of the tail back and forth from one side of Manior's frame to the other.
Behind the glasses, M blinked. Was that some attempt on the part of this small, horrifying little creature to communication? "Beg your pardon?" He really had no clue about children, having never even been one himself.

Sora finally turned her blue eyes to the door, wondering why Manior hadn't closed it yet. Noticing the man, however, she frowned slightly as she stood up from the couch and made her way through the small maze of furniture to the door. Picking up the toddler carefully, the poor elf looked fairly tired, as if she hadn't slept in a day or two.
"May I help you?" she asked, wondering if he was trying to sell something. He didn't look like a salesman of any sort, so it didn't seem likely.
Manior wrapped his little fingers around a small part of the green cloak drapped over Sora's shoulders, his attentioned turned to the kitchen now as Roswell flitted about, looking for something to chuck at the monochrome feien.

"Actually," said Dr. M in his buzzing voice, "I believe I'm the one who is supposed to help you. I'm Dr. M." Clearly, he expected his name to ring a bell. Clearly, he expected his name to command respect. Clearly, he thought he was somebody famous.

Raylan heard the name, and began to make his way toward the door, just dodging the grape that had been thrown at him. He knew that Sora wouldn't know what he was talking about, and he remembered the name from that time he and Neko went to headquarters.
"Dr. M?" he piped up, not as cheery as the little feien normally would have been. "You finally got that note Neko left for you...?"
Inside, he was angry. He should have come sooner... He could have helped them sooner. However, no one had expected for their bonded to have been...
"I... My name is Raylan. I'm one of Neko's feien... She won't be able to speak with you, but I knew what it was she wanted to talk to you about."
Sora stepped aside, allowing for M to enter the house if he wished.

"Alright then." Dr. M gave a sinister little grin, his idea of a pleasant smile, and bowed his head as he stepped across the threshold. He stomped his feet on the mat just inside the door to rid them of the dust from Gaia's dirt roads. He glanced around, not really caring about the decor, but aiming to be polite. "Nice place. What was it you wanted me for?"

Raylan glanced toward the coffee table for a moment, then to the kitchen as something seemed to crash. He twitched at the idea of Roswell breaking something, and could only watch as Sora cautiously made her way over to inspect the damage. Sometimes... he was worse than Tahki.
"She wanted to know..." he started, turning to look back to M before floating toward the couch, "if there was a way to rebond feien."
He turned his green eyes once again to the table, concern washing over his face as he looked at the three adult feien resting on it. Tahki was latched onto Ares' waist, the cold feien's black and red feathers molting off her back. Ares looked pale and tired, and Merrimack was simply sulking in the corner. He also seem physically tired, but appeared to be emotionally dettatched from things as he just stared at the ground.
"Their lives depend on it."

Dr. M's eyes lit up invisibly behind his glasses, but the effect was noticeable in the way he inhaled and arched his back, edges of his face crinkling with happiness. Giddy, he said, "Rebond? No. But I can solve your problem." The grin appeared again, rows of hungry teeth ready to devour opportunity.

The young feien wasn't sure whether or not to be afraid of the sudden change in the man. If he could help in ANY way, that seemed to be all the hope he needed.
"Solve... the problem?" he questioned, his wings falling down over his shoulders like a cape as he landed on the back of the sofa. "What can be done?"

M shoved his hands deep into his coat pockets as he rocked back and forth on his feet, the equivalent of jumping up and down in excitement for him. "I can reverse Time," he said.

Raylan could feel his heart stop for a moment. Reverse... time?
Ares turned her three red eyes to the man Raylan was talking to, still petting Tahki's hair lightly as she continued to try to sooth the sobbing feien. What was he planning...?
"How? Can you really reverse time? How will that help them?" Questions began to swarm his mind, but he refrained from asking them all.

Removing his hands from his pockets, Dr. M's feet went flat on the ground. He spread his arms wide. "Time," he said, "is nothing more than the motion of particles through the fourth dimension. The particles moved forward--" he swept his right arm forward so it was pointing straight ahead of him-- "and Time proceeds. By tracking that motion, we can extrapolate where particles will move next--" he continued the motion of his right hand over his to his left-- "and predict the future, or, we can calculate where the particles have been--" his right arm swept back to its original position, sticking out to the side-- "and see the past."
"Now, say you had a device that allowed you not only to plot a particle's position, but to move it through the fourth dimension." Dr. M swept right arm forward once more, than back again. "If you had that, you would effectively be able to reverse time for the particle in question." Finally his hands fell back to his sides, returning once more to his pockets.

Just listening to him, Raylan never would have understood. However, watching the example with Dr. M's arms, it made a little more sense. So, he could alter time... for specific things? In a sense, just start things over?
"C-can... Can you do that for them, then?" he asked, more fascinated by the thought than by what it would be doing now. "You'll really be able to save them by doing that?"

"Of course," said Dr. M, smiling once again. The more they discussed playing with time, the happier he became, and the more unnerving and sinister. "All the way back to the bloom."
