My mom has the DVD
We were going to watch it the other night
But we couldn't find it and just watched Interview With a Vampire instead
I know some of the songs, though
When your mom teaches singing at your house, you tend to know a LOT of songs
I know Santa Fe (gets stuck in my head all the time) and Seize the Day (did it in a musical revue)

Now is the time to seize the day!
It's a great musical, in my opinion.
Although, Santa Fe did strike me as the cheesiest thing in the world. Have you seen how he dances when he sings it!?

Ummmno
I've just heard several of my mom's studnts sing it
It's THE song that her teenage male students sing
Well, not the only song
But no teenage boy has ever taken lessons from her and not sung that song
It's a good song :3
I want to get her to have some of her students sing Why from Tick Tick Boom, as well
Of course, they might butcher it miserably
gonk

Let it be said that I LOVE NEWSIES. I have a Newsies outfit for my avatar, I'm so hopeless. Kid Blink is my favorite followed by Skittery and Crutchy.
I was in a Cabaret-style thing for my school that involved dancing and singing to "The World Will Know" (I was one of two girls in it). It's not as easy as it looks eek .
I'm with you, though. Santa Fe is not my favorite song out of Newsies. It just doesn't seem to fit as well as the others. The lyrics are nice, but I just don't like the rest of the music in that particular song. I'm very partial to King of New York.

<3 that song.
I sing it all the time
My favorite part of the song is the very end, the point when they go "I must be either dead or dreaming..."Everything after that is great.

I'm going to be in a musical review type of thing, only with Disney songs, and we're gonna sing songs from Newsies. I don't know what we're singing yet though. 3nodding

I love Newsies! I knew a few of the songs but then I watched the dvd with some of my friends. We sang along with as much as we could and after it ended we realiezed it had a sing along thing to it. We skipped to a few of our favorite songs and used the sing along feature.

OMG! I love Newsies!!! I watch it all the time. My favorite character is Spot Collins. Any boy who willingly carries around a cane is worthy of affection. And I actually like Santa Fe, but I do agree that it is cheezy ^^.

Our school keeps talking about doing the Newsies. There are just two little things hindering our performance: 1. Girls would play guy parts (which is no big deal, we've done it before) and 2. Disney isn't releasing the script.

But it's so easy to get the script online. Illegal as it is for schools to perform a piece that's not published (unless of course the performance is free and it's not advertised), it happens so often. I don't think anything will happen as long as your school complies with the law, though.
As for girls playing guys parts, rock on! I was in a revue of Newsies and had to fight for it!

I heart heart heart heart heart Newsies. And if any of you don't know, the kid who plays Mush is the same guy who had the first solo in "Will I" in the RENT movie.
Favorite characters - Racetrack and Spot Conlon, how could you not like the two wise guys XD . I have the DVD and soundtrack, which gets played out a lot in my car hehe.
