We use them mainly for stand tunes. For the show and stuff we have to have our music memorized. We keep the lyres in our pants during the pre-game show and stuff and then whip them out to play for the crowd before the game. Its weird marching around with a lyre in your pants! lol!

We use them, though I try to avoid doing so at all costs, meaning I usually memorize the music. ^^; My friend and I have an official "Lyre Haters Club." 3nodding

Trombone lyres never work... or mine don't, at least... lol, I chucked mine into the woods during our game today... it was starting to really piss me off.

I typically start off using a lyre every year since I'm out of pratice memorization wise...but as the season goes on, I'll usually start leaving mine off...(Of course, technically I don't have to use a lyre...I could just hold my flip folder....but that's what you get when your sousa mouthpiece won't stay up stare )

We only play in the stands, so yeah, we use them all the time. ^^;; Flute lyres = SATAN. They cut off your circulation and they SUCK. x_x Luckily I get to use a sax lyre this year, since now I'm on sax for pep band.

I only get to use them in the stands, because we have a lot of stand music. But since I'm in highschool and we move a lot on the field, we don't get to use them there.

my band instructor talks about how bad it is to use those. he says that if you march with them, you are more likely to be off step, and you wont watch the drum major

Like most people who've posted, our band only uses the flipfolders and lyres for when we play in the stands. I dislike when we use them during practice because when we don't need them anymore our director makes us put them on the sideline, and that's how mine got stolen last year! scream I try to keep it on at all costs or simply not bring it.
