There's a song that has a fast paced sample from If I Were a Rich Man. Does anyone know the song's title and what performer does it? PLease let me know. Also what do you think of something like that? And are there any other songs from musicals that are samples in other songs?

Do you mean "Rich Girl" by Gwen Stefani? That's probably it. It's quite catchy, but the music video has her dancing with Japanese pirates...

That might be it, I don't know. Thanks though. You don't know what album it would be on, would you?

scream And I hate Gwen Stefani for doing that! Never, ever, EVER remake a show-tune. Especially one as classic as "If I Were a Rich Man". That was one of the best showtunes in the world, until she ruined it! Now everytime I sing it, people hear me and start to sing the Gwen Stefani version because they don't know it was originally from a musical. And you know what else? I was at a pep rally at my school the other day, and the cheerleaders' began their routine, and it started off with, "Oh, dear Lord... You made many, many poor people. I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor, but it's not a great honor either. So what would have been so terrible..if I had.. a small fortune?" It was the exact quote from Fiddler on the Roof, right before the song... and then, the new version of it came blasting out of the speakers, and the cheerleaders danced to that. ERGH!

Phew. Okay. I'm done ranting.

Wow, just reading that made me furious, I can only imagine what would've happened I was actually there.

It was so.. GRRR! It started playing the beginning of the song from Fiddler on the Roof, and it got my hopes up.. I thought maybe they actually were gonna dance to the original version! But then it turned into a medley of songs about money which all happened to be really shitty remakes of good songs.

Ugh. I heard 2 seconds of that song once and changed the station. It's so annoying. I honestly don't like Gwen Stefani. Any of her songs. One or two old No Doubt songs were ok, but everything else with her name attached for some reason just sucks.

It's on the Love.Angel.Music.Baby album by her.
(Sorry to dissapoint you all, but I am a pretty big No Doubt fan. Don't mind me.)

Pshh, I was a huge No Doubt fan until I found out that she thrashed my all-time favorite theatrical song. I still love a lot of her other music, but I hate her for doing that.
