I am planning an all female pack. There already exists one all female pack, but there is no law against having two.
This female pack will have rankings based on the Alpha of the pack.
There is no set Alpha yet, we will see as things shape up.
If you would like to join the pack, please PM me with your wolf's image and a short description of him or her. We will then schedule a date for pack addmittance in this thread.
My wolf Kara will be starting the pack, though she may not be Alpha.
Once an Alpha is found we will set about other rankings. Pack rules, and pack places.
I will need at least 3 pack members before we are allowed our own subforum, but I am willing to take more pack members than this.
Do NOT post in this thread UNLESS you have an assigned RP to join the pack. >.> We'll schedule RPs through PMs. n.n

Currently in the Pack
~::Kara::~ [Alpha Rank Pending] {Player: Kealdra} Kara has fierce loyalty to her friends, and can be rather shy at times. She goes through significant changes in her personality depending on the situation and whom it is she speaks to. Not willing to backstab, if she gives her loyalty, she keeps it. She never calls another friend, she has found it causes her far to much trouble.
~::Jori::~ [Gamma] {Player: Ronove} Despite her youth, Jori is worldly and pessimistic, a result of her harsh past. Ready to expect the worst from others, she often comes across as aggressive and hard-headed. Jori is difficult to get close to, but once her trust is won she's loyal to the point of death.
~::Antianeira::~ [Unknown Ranking ATM] {Player: Alyosha} Ever since I got 'Neira I decided I wanted her to be a man-hating wolf. I've not had any chance to RP with her yet, unfortunately, but I was hoping I could get some RP with other wolves who are like-minded. She has a slightly cliche angsty past - She's young, had a moment of madness with a male which she now views as having been against her will / trickery, ended up pregnant and cast out and on her own with one surviving pup from her first litter (three other pups died). Currently she's 'on the run' from males who she's sure are out to get her.
~::Maia::~ [Unknown Ranking ATM] {Player: Alyosha} Currently with 'Neira is her one surviving pup Maia. She's quiet and has no sense of 'home' having been moved many times since her birth away from the 'evil males'. She will grow up with a dislike of males (which I'd love to eventually RP her 'getting over'). She has a determined nature inside and really would like to protect her mother, wanting to become the 'biggest, baddest, sneakiest wolf ever!!!!' >> the problem beoing that she's... bright orange >>;
~::Carey::~ [Unknown Ranking ATM] {Player: Shinzick of Teh} Raised by two loving and caring parent, Carey has fallen far from the tree. Greedy, conceited, and borderline sadistic, she has been itching to rebel from the past pack, and generally piss off her parents. Despite these flaws, she can be loyal, generally to those she trusts, and sometimes even protective. Otherwise she's a generally s**t disturber.

Kealdra Arrikanez Bright flooding orange thrust forth over the land, alighting whatever it could, making darkness flee back into minute corners. Night was fading once again, a new day was to done, hot summer air resting thick above the ground. It made it warm, acrid, and pungent smelling even at this early hour.
Even in the darkness, the heat still stood, threatening to choke the inhabitants of the earth. Dew rested in this forlorn air, causing moisture to cling to respective fur, making walking a misery. This was the worst time of the year, dry heat Kara could take, but this musty mist of a world she had nothing but contempt for.
Soft ear met fur, tail moving thickly, causing what little wind there was on these open plains. Sharp, cold eyes scanned the landscape, mounted atop a red capped face, which rested on a very tall wolf. Large even for her breed, Kara was a sight to behold. Tall, lanky, and thin, to the point where soft white bone could just be seen, her fur matted. Beauty might have once struck this face, but not now, years and ages had worn them hard. Horrors she could not see or hear, only witness in cold silence.
It had been many days since her meeting with the Alpha and her denied entrance into the pack of wolves. Still her choice haunted her, but not so much as the choices she would have to make later on. She would travel now, but she had a new home, never again to return to the peaceful river beneath the silver moon.Ronove The mist wrapped itself heavily around the trunks and branches of the trees. It entwined itself, snake-like, in the leaves and crept along the ground, thick and swealtering. New sunlight pierced through in orange and pinks, painting a filigree of light on the world below.
Jori twitched her tail irritably and stalked though the dank forest. Her coat, a fine costal blue, was stained to a darker shade by clinging fog and dew. Beneath the thick layer of fur her skin itched and she longed for the cooler lands of her birth.
Gnats rose up in a cloud around the wet, bedraggled female and she snapped at the air in annoyance. "Damn bugs, damn heat!" She muttered angrily. "Damn damn damn --!"
Jori trudged forward, uttering a continues stream of curses under her breath. Around her the forest had gone unusually still, but she was too focused on the current unfortunate situation and didn't pay attention to her surroundings. She stepped in a pile of steaming muck; what was left of a vernal spring pool.
"Damn you all to bloody -- erg!" The female regarded her slimed paw with a look of revulsion. Of all the luck. Why'd she even come out here in the first place? Stupidity. Kealdra Arrikanez Maw smacked together in distaste, long tendoned legs flexing as she moved forward in rythmic pattern.
Step. Step.
Her head was low, as was tail, she would not make the mistake of angering another, though she had no doubt her fighting skills would prevail against most, her kind soul would not. Confrontation was best avoided, especially with him.
It was feint, but there was a scent. There would have been a time when Kara would have avoided thus, drifting from such things like they were the plague, but now her curiousity was at full height. Any information on another she could ever retrieve made her writhe with excitement, so the rythym was broken, and she strode forwards, ears towards their destination.
She chose not to talk, but to follow, perhaps to see how alert this other wolf was. Watch, see if she knew she was being followed, or spotted the massive red before she could be so. Paws layed intricately on the thickly ferned woods, causing nei more than a soft patter. Silent and deadly as the cats. Ronove Mud sucked underfoot and stained her a rancid, green-brown up to her knees. Jori crossed a drying, still-water streambed and followed it to where it joined a slightly less stagnant creek. Marshflies stung at her face and whined in her ears, making what could have been a pleasant trip into a nitemare.
"Stupid seer. Stupid idea." She grunted and tripped over a decaying log. The young female certainly hadn't wanted to come this far from her homeland. And she wouldn't have; not by choice. If it wasn't for Leu and his "predictions". Chase me out, will they? I can make it on my own.
The young female bared her teeth in a silent snarl at the thought. None of her birth pack would recognize her now. Gone was the lusturious coat, the soft fur and alert gaze of a predator. Her coat no longer shone, her body was lean to the point of starvation. Weariness weakened her senses and slowed her stride.
She panted. Take one step. And another. And --
"Damn!" She swore as she stumbled over a protruding root. Glaring at the offending tree, she started to pick herself up, then froze. It wasn't until her sudden stop that she noticed the soft footfalls on the loam behind her. Kealdra Arrikanez Kara had been travelling the areas for some time, used to their deviant ways, and so had avoided the most of the looming dangerous of the forest. She best make an impact on the other wolf, hold herself higher, even if she didn't show herself higher. Make the other cower before she realized she wasn't threatened. First impressions were lasting impressions. If hostility scarred the other, then she could simply hold her body in submission, avoiding any confrontation, but still keeping herself high.
As the other tripped over a fallen log she took the time to let white feet meet sanded rock. Leaping onto a precipice and scrambling her way, she found herself on top of a pearl boulder, dotted with defects of black and shining white diamond.
Maw curled upwards, a trait unusual for a wolf, this smiling trait. Little white teeth were bared. She had ceased holding back from this strange urge to grin, and simply used it to her own intimidating will. Wind wooshed as an ear turned to survey others in the area, nose and eyes scanning for scent and blur.
There was none to be had.
Relaxing her muslces, deep blue eyes scanned donwards at the victim of her plots, tail swaying lightly, showing neither glee or anger. It was void of emotion, but full of ackowledgement of anothers presence. "Took you a while to notice me," she noted of the other, turning her sharp jaw to better examine the others bright coat. Ronove Superstitious idiots! Leu just didn't like her. There was nothing strange about the marks on her shoulder, nothing wrong with her attitude. The trees around her whispered softly in the hot summer breeze.
Certainly, there wasn't anything suprising about her ambitions. I'm young, and I am - was - strong. For a moment she lay panting on the forest floor, paw aching where it struck the wood. Her ears flickered and kept searching for a sign of the other's presence.
"Took you a long while to notice me."
The other's nonchalant voice caused the female to jerk and spin, turning to face a rocky outcropping bathed in early morning sun.
Jori transfered her glare to the tall red wolf standing languidly on the boulder across from her. Irrational irritation boiled up inside of her, perhaps a cover for the fear and desperation she should be feeling.
"I didn't ask you to follow me!" Hackles came up, and the words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. Her breathing was harsh in the still morning air. Kealdra Arrikanez The words seemed to have little or no effect on Kara. They hit her fur and slid down as did the rain. She furrowed her brows midly and then released them, letting her muscles uncoil and body collapse on top of them, leaning back as she did so, lowering her body to meet the rock, engaging in a soft contact.
"No," she confirmed, ears swivelling here and there, obviously not impressed with the others anger. "I didn't ask you to fall over that log, either. Yet. . . you seem to have done it." Wind picked up to swirl around, picking up musty ground and twirling it into oblivion.
The pungent creek that lay below her choked with dust, make her wretch, and for a time she directed her attention towards its demused state.
Time passed by before she again found a reason to speak. "So it seems I don't need to be asked to follow you." She let the other chew on that for a time. Ronove Something in the others wolf's cool demeanor grated horribly on Jori's senses. For a moment she stood rigid, mouth open as though ready to reply, ears flat. Then she forced a deep breath and let it out in a sigh, mulling sullenly over the other's wolfs words.
"You can do whatever you want." Jori shook herself, splattering mud an dirty water across the rocks. "Just don't plan on me playing along." She glared at the larger wolf, attempting to look stronger then she felt, but her smaller stature had never seemed so obvious before. Jori's leg twitched with fatigue.
For a moment there was silence. Movement in the undergrowth caught the young female's eye; a hare stood poised on the edge of flight, its nose twitching as it scented the predators. Hunger rose up and roared through her like a living thing - she'd had little luck with game so far, and the scent was almost enough to make her mad.
But I won't give in here. She though, jade eyes flickering towards the prey. I won't let this... rival see my weakness. Although her muscles were tensed to lunge, her ears erect, she stayed motionless. She had a dreadful feeling she would fail to catch her prey, and in front of this newcomer... that was something she would resist doing with all her strength. Kealdra Arrikanez She paid little heed to the other wolf, becomming preoccupied with other things. Truthfully she had little a mind for the others thoughts of breaking or proving herself. Kara was not testing, or perhaps she was, no one knew her plans these days. Something dear Phantom and Kaho would have to watch their prettied hides for.
Kara chuckled at the other, her muscles coiled, then burst upwards as she suddenly loomed yet again. Her teeth still opened in a malicious grin, she pushed forwards, front hitting the ground with a sharp thud, followed gracefully by the second. Even now it was apparent of her massive size, though an initial glance may not have revealed it for she was so slender and lanky.
No. The only person she cared for was Ran, truly and utterly, at least for now. Ran who showed kindness, Ran the abused. If Phantom crossed her again he was a dead man. He had almost been dead once. Tahara had saved him, though he had really meant to save her. She supposed, though, that with all the lackies the blue had accumulated the dead wolf may have been doing her a service by his sharp words.
"Play?" Kara shook her head, almost in disbelief at the question, yet there was still a strike of amusement on her brow. "I do not play dear child. If this following is what you call play, as I assume, then you have already played your little part. I could care to little what you do. You have nothing for me and nothing of me, therefore are nothing to me. I do not like connections, do not test, I do not play." It was a long speech for a little explanation, but the smaller surely knew that she was not a thing to be trifled with. Whether she would hurt the wolf was rather questionable, very questionable, but whether others might, well not so much. Best toughen the creature up now while she still had a chance.
Ears flicked at the small nuisance that lay hidden in the brush. She could smell and hear its breath moving quickly. Letting out a growl she dove under the thick needles and snapped her jaws around its neck, attempting to fling it towards the other wolf.
Her teeth met home, and soon it was out of its whole, giving its last final desperate movements before fading from the world forever. "This," she continued. "Is you if you cannot learn your place." Kara eyed the other warily. She seemed to be in good shape. "Pack wolf I assume?" she questioned of the other, noting her well manicured position. "Why so far from home?" Ronove The hare's torn body fell lifelessly from the female's jaws, coming to a rest at Jori's feet. For a moment the blue eyed it, her pink tongue snaking out to wet her lips. She tore her stare away from the bloodied corpse and transferred it to the lanky red wolf standing close by. Jade eyes narrowed.
"Play?" She spoke softly, anger brightening her gaze. "Child? You think you can just tell me who I am?" Adrenaline flooded her body, lending her a feeling of immortality. How dare this... this rogue assume to tell her what and who she was. Leu did that for long enough. I was chased - no, I left - because I wouldn't deal with it anymore. Not again.
But the other wolf was stronger, toughened over the years. No doubt she'd led a hard life. Jori was smaller, weaker. She could feel her muscles cramping, twitching with fatigue. She had a feeling that the female's threat wasn't idle. She adjusted her position, unconsiously accomidating her thoughts. He tail stood straight out from her body, bristled and stiff, ears flat against her head.
"I was a pack animal." Her voice was thick, whether with anguish or anger it was impossibe to tell. "Was. Not again." Not if every wolf was like this one, like Leu. Teeth flashed in the early morning glare. The scent of blood was fresh, inviting, but Jori resisted it. "The past has no hold on the present." The growled words had the feel of an oft-repeated phrase. Even as she spoke, Jori recognized the lie, but like so many times before, she refused to acknowlege it.
"I don't care who you are. I don't know what you want." She spoke through bared teeth. "But try anything, and you'll regret it." She hoped the bluff had enough strength to fly. Kealdra Arrikanez Kara blinked in response. She wasn't expecting such hostility from the other. "Hush dear. I have done nothing to deserve your scorn." She again surveyed the area, then settled on the ground near the femme, lowering her body so her height no longer towered above the other.
The rabit had not been a show of her power, as the other might have assumed, but a show of the power of everyone else around her. She would not personally rip the female's throat out, or even do anything to the smaller unless badly provoked. However, others, like Phantom and his pack of deviant backstabbers would not hesitate to ruin her and all others they saw a nuisance. She wasn't sure what kept her living, but she had to be sure to prevail above the ghostly blue if he ever did decide to kill her. That meant finding Kaho, warning him, though she was very sure that the seer already very well knew.
"You'd be suprised how much of a hold the past has on now. You'll learn that in time, though, too." Kara chuckled at the last statment, stretching her maw out to snap off a piece of the creature who had met the fate of her jaws. "Tell me, do you think I care about your idle threats? If I was afraid I would not have approached you. Regardless of you pathetic size," which to be truthful wasn't nearly as small as some wolves, but she said it for impact. "You do have a very strong nature about you. A nature," she continued. "Which will give you a lot of trouble in these parts. You are no longer a pack wolf, so you cannot follow by rules. Out here there are no rules. You are lucky to have come across me rather than others. Be thankful." Her gaze turned to the rabbit. "You look famished. Are you going to eat that or not?" Ronove She stared as the other female laid down in the dust. For a moment she remained as she was, rigid, hackles up. Then the tension drained from her tired body and she relaxed. Her ears remained back, though not pinned as they had been before.
"They weren't idle." Jori muttered, not sure whether to be relieved or irritated by the other's calm. She didn't want to be lulled into a false sense of saftey, only to fall when she was most vulnerable. But somehow... Jori didn't think this female would attack. It wouldn't be good for either of us. And something is distracting her. Trouble, maybe?
Around them the early mist had faded with the night, and the sun was begining its acension. Already the day promised to be a scorcher, with only the barest of breezes rattling through dry brush. "I have to be strong." She spoke softly, not looking at the other's blue gaze. I don't just want to survive. I want tolive, damnit!. "It is better that there are no rules. in my experience, they only cause problems."
Her father had been strict, the males the dominant force in the pack. Females had to be tough, strong, to survive, or they would lose respect and perish. Her pack - the pack - was not guided by love, but a will to survive. And if you weighed the pack down... you wouldn't be part of it for long. At first, it had been bearable. Then Leu came into his powers, and nothing was ever the same. Jori stared at her blue paws and sighed. Her stomach growled.
The other female's face was stained with blood, and the rabbit lay gutted on the ground next to her. At the other's offer, Jori squatted down and tore at the fresh meat, reveling in the taste. Something inside her rebelled at the though of accepting the charity, but she was far too hungry to listen. She'd never had to depend on herself before. There'd always been other pack members to help bring down the kill...
Realizing she'd eaten most of the small hare, she paused and glanced guiltily at the larger female. Her stomach was far from full, but she didn't want to risk a fight over the meal. Kealdra Arrikanez Kara paid no heed to the females saying of 'idle' threats. To her they were idle, nothing more. She took no one's threats as anything but words unless they were spoken by Phantom, or one of his counterparts. The steady grin that had faded remerged once more at the words, 'its easier when there are no rules.'
"Only thing wrong with that," she mused. "Is that no one else has to follow the rules either." She swayed her head from side to side before burrowing inbetween her pearl paws to rest her jowel on the ground.
Kara watched the other eat for a time, apparently bored with what was happening. The moment was taken to clean her matted fur, a swim was in order. She loved the water. Beautiful, really, but most seemed to stray from it. During hot and acrid days like this it would be a wise choice.
"Tell me, what do they call you?" One ear lay resting on her head, the other towards the female, awaiting an answer. Ronove Seeing that the other female had no intentions of fighting over the remander, Jori turned her attention back to the small meal at hand. One ear she kept cocked towards her company, making certain not to miss a move. At her question, Jori paused and studied the larger female. She considered lying, but discarded the option immediatly. It wouldn't do any good.
"Jori." Her voice was curt. "Some rules are necessary," she concided, "But none is better than too many."
There were nothing but bones left, but she gnawed on those with the same intensity. The silence stretched on between them, seeming akward to the young female. Jori shifted uncomfortably, ears twitching with each rattle and shake of a bush. She couldn't stand it.
"Thank you for the meal." She muttered, looking away from the older female. She was uncomfortably aware of her youth, and under the older wolf's gaze she felt clumsy and puppyish, despite a full year of adulthood. Her attention fell on the rancid mud nearby, then to her similairly stained legs. Not much to look at today, are we? She thought wryly, her muzzle twisting in a slight grimace. I wonder what Shae would think if he saw me now...
She shook the thought away and focused again on the rangy red-brown female. "And what are you called?"

"And what are you called?" Kealdra Arrikanez If it was one thing Kara hated, it was lying. She simply couldn't stand it. Nevermind the fact that she stayed from the truth and always deviantly thrwarted others questions, giving them guarded answers, but if anyone else were to do it to her. . . well her mood wouldn't stay so swell.
Kara had never dealt with too many rules before. If there were that many she simply went where there were none. She could leave as she choosed, but the last time she had dire misfortunes had come across her path. So she inevitably decided to stay away from rules, and away from other things.
That's when it hit her. She hadn't gone to see Phantom to join his pack at all. In fact, just the opposite. She had needed his refusal to give her permission. Permission to defend herself against the Alpha, to start her own complex weave of families. The allowance from him to start her own pack. Not that she couldn't have, but now it was justified and in some way Phantom was responsible for what she was about to do.
"I will tell you on one condition," she said, rising once more. "My name is not a petty thing to be thrown around. I know to many. Unless, of course, you are willing to accept my protection. Then and only then do I feel justified in telling you my name." Ronove Jori blinked. Again.
Accept her protection? The small blue's expression grew serious. Although her face hid her thoughts well, her eyes spoke loudly of her doubts and fears. Is that what I want? I said I'd never join another pack again. She'd fled from rules, from a strict, inflexible hierarchy; from the pain that came with that form of survival.
Now she was alone. Jori hadn't given solitude much thought when she ran, but at this point... she was ragged, starving, and winter wasn't too far off. For a moment an odd, detached humor gripped her and her maw gaped in what could have been a smile. Fled from one trap, into the jaws of another. She stood up slowly, stretching out tense muscles.
She'd only know this female for a short time, and instinct spoke well of her. But Jori was uncertain, and a deep-seated fear of authority was prickling in her mind. Flicking her ears forward, she eyed the tall female for a moment then spoke. "So, Noname..." She cocked her head. "What kind of protection are you offering?" Jori paused, then spoke in a more serious tone. "And why should I trust you?" Kealdra Arrikanez]Kara let out a yawn, showing she really could care less what the female thought of her. "I am offering the protection of a pack of wolves. Female wolves. Protection against a pack of males, one in particular. One whom you'd do wise to stay away from. He eats wolves." She leaned back on her haunches and stretched, it was about time to be going again.
"Trust me? I am not asking you to trust me. As far as your concerned I could rip your throat out while you were asleep. Its whether or not you trust your own judgement. Nothing I say will change what you truly think of me on the inside." It was a point and fact. At least for her. If she didn't trust another wolf not much she could say and do would make her trust another wolf.
"You may take my offer, or you may leave it. It rests there on the playing table like that rabbit. Your move." She gave the other a grin and then began to walk away, probably in search of somewhere more decent to house herself.
[quote="Ronove For a moment irritation flashed through the blue as she watched the blatant display of ease. Taking a deep breath, Jori relaxed. She liked the way this Noname had responded. It was true; no matter what she said, Jori would still feel the same. It would require powerful words to compel a change of heart. But she felt that in the new wolf there was something there to trust, no matter her harsh exterior.
And a female wolf pack? She'd grown up with mostly males, her mother having died in birth, and her only sister so submissive it was embarassing. Perhaps... just maybe... a pack of females might not be as bad. For a moment only the smaller female hesitated.
"Wait." She called, trotting to catch up to the rangy red. She winced as the word left her mouth, but didn't stop herself. What choice was there? Remember; winter is coming.
For a moment she walked on in silence, then cast a furitive look at the older female. "Who is the one who eats wolves?" The thought of a cannibal illicited a strange apprehension in her. "I have heard of few practices like that..." Kealdra Arrikanez "Kara," she said. "That is my name." She smiled at the other, her white teeth showing in the glint of the hot summer air.
"I won't give you his name just yet. You'll know it in time." There was no reason to give the other his name. If she gave it to her now, the female could have some thoughts about trying to kill him or otherwise, not a wise choice. Kara herself was dangerous armed with his name, she was given the name at just the right time by Kaho. Any sooner and she might be a dead wolf.
"Practices?" she chuckled. "Its hardly a practice. He simply decides you aren't worth his time and eats you." She turned her attention back to the world and broke into a trot. Ronove "And no one stops him?" Jori grimaced with disgust, her nose wrinkling. She didn't understand why Kara was so... secretive with names. What did it matter if Jori knew who was who? Wouldn't it be better to know, and thus have the power to avoid? Or to attack...
"You know him." She said suddenly, ears perking as Kara picked the pace up to a trot. "You've met him." It wasn't a question. Why had Kara let him live? Surely a wolf as large as this rangy female could take down one male, cannibal or no. Or perhaps... it was this cannibal who granted life. She considered this for a moment, and felt she understood Kara's desire for a pack. But the idea of a fight... and challenging a male...
"You don't have to tell me his name. Just describe him. I have to know what to watch out for, no?" Her strides long and graceful as she followed the other. The meal had rejuvinated her and she could feel fresh strength flowing into her muscles. A thrill of excitement shot through her, leaving her energized and eager.
There are ways... Jori mused. A blackberry bush lashed her across the face and she ducked. There are more wolves than just Kara in these woods. Kealdra Arrikanez "There is a whole pack behind him. That is why no one stops him." She smiled at the blue, knowing perfectly well the thoughts of killing the blue that went through her mind. She had of course felt the same way when she had first met him.
"He's blue, ice blue. You'll know him when you see him. I advise staying away." Yes, she did know him, yes she had met him. Twice. She was more involved in his pack than she wanted to be and not be held within it. But now she was even more involved now than ever. Life did not bode well. She hoped that not to many others would know of him. Just to be safe.
It wasn't as if Kara hadn't wanted to kill him. There were thousands of things stopping her, mostly Kaho and Ran's life. If she did something now, she would regret it forever and always. Ronove He's an Alpha? Jori snorted and shook her head. Too much like home... She had a feeling that it wouldn't be long before she met other wolves, and eventually this... slaughterer. Although most of her recoiled at the thought, a small part of her reveled in the fear it brought, and the possiblity of a challenge was sweet.
She glanced at the lanky wolf loping silently next to her, and felt a suprising surge of warmth. Not towards Kara in particular, but towards the idea of companionship. While traveling, Jori had taken to talking to herself, so much it was worrisome for the youth. It was nice to have someone else to talk to, even if she didn't speak much. Or give out names. The blue's mouth gaped in a grin.
For the first time in since she'd "left" her old pack, she felt some sembalance of contentment. Certainly not safe, but not vulnerable either. It was... a good change.

The air was thick, muggy and humid, plastering her grey and black fur to her body uncomfortably. A dull grey wrapped around the pair of wolves, mother and child, who were dragging themselves out of sleep and into their own, troubled, reality.
Another exhausting night had passed, another over-warm, mosquito-infested, hard rock excuse for a resting place had niggled at joints and sore spots. 'Neira's eyes were bleary, her senses slightly warped from both lack of sleep and worry. The lack of a 'safe' place meant 'Neira and her single pup had moved every night in the past week.
'Neira's pawpads cooled as she stepped down from the hard stone - where they had been resting slightly above the surrounding area - to soft grass. t The soft blades were damp from the early morning, ground-enveloping mist. She looked around, making sure the now scrawny pup was still following her and picked out the orange fur easily even through the swirling mass.
She turned back ahead and began to plod onwards. She didn't know where she would stop - if she'd ever be able to. She knew if this continued much longer the pair would be at real risk. Maia already was overly thin for a pup her age and 'Neira, as much as she resented the pup at times, could not stand the thought of her single pup, the last of it's litter, dying.
Determined, she padded on.

Popping sounds broke forth across the land, shattering the silence as it cut through early morninng dew. A loud whine shortly followed, growing high, and then suddenly fading. It repeated once more and and ended with the snap of closing jaws. Thick and sticky, perspiration clung to the female's fur with vengence, punishing her for being awake at this hour, or recently so. Sharp and cold blue eyes saw darkness once, before giving way to a mistified world. Fog rested on the ground all around, making visibility hard at hand.
Fur spread as red flashed against the dewy morn. Her head shifted to the left, stretching and cracking more tendons in bones. Muslces coiled and gave a twang as the female strained her body to relieve itself of tightened ligaments. Finally she rose, pushing upwards with large feet.
Kara was a huge wolf. Tall, thin, and lanky. Perhaps a bit scraggly if one were to look at her. At some point in time beauty set at her face, that much was clear, but the ages had worn away, giving her rough edges, and a cold malicious identity. It was obvious she was a loner, though the summer months treated her well and for once ribs did not jut outwards from her vibrant fur of fire.
An uncommon wolf grin spread across her maw. Jowel lowered slightly, just enough to let the acrid air pass over wet and thirsty tongue.
It had just been recently she had decided that the way to make Phantom pay was to match him in stride. Even if she did not have a pack, an allegiance with as many females as possible would prove kind in the end. Phantom's pack possesed males, so hers would posses females. She did not yet know of Hayley's interactions with the blue. Of course, she knew nothing of Audi either. She would never know a thing about Audi if others could help it.
Giving her body one last stretch, a left foot struck forwards, sinking into the soft mud. Padded sounds of slurping echoed, bouncing to and from the beady fog particles, as she struck outwards into the melencholy day.
A blur of white as a sound was caught. Just a hint of it, but it seemed all around. The world spun as she searched for the maker, the footfalls that would trace her to this intruder. "Who's there?" she called, a slight growl hinting at the back of her voice. Water masked scents and distorted sounds, making it near impossible to discover the intruder, whomever it may be.

As she walked forward, her sore, cracked paws slurped into thickening mud. This area seemed to be a little boggy or perhaps the rain had steeped this small patch in the past few days. Either way the monotone female's legs were getting plastered with sticky mud. Her pup was having even more trouble, the squelching morass nearly reaching her slightly distended belly.
Sharply 'Neira's head came up as she heard the other close by. So suddenly had is threat appeared that she half-yelped in surprise. She hadn't been paying attention - the water, her lack of sleep and general condition had left her oblivious to the other wolf nearby. She stopped dead, instantly trying to scent the other. Male? It didn't seem so, there was a female quality to the scent. She only half relaxed, however. Unknown females were dangerous, too.
Running away only got you chased. She replied. "I am" she said simply, walking slowly towards the other wolf, presenting herself as non-threateningly as possible. "I mean no trouble." She wouldn't mention she was looking for food, shelter. She didn't want to be driven away. If she pretended she was just passing through she might be able to snag a morsel and be on her way before any others knew.
Maia was now snuggled under 'Neira's legs, having bumped into them when her mother stopped. A different wolf. For all her mother's worrying the pair hadn't crossed path with another since she had been born. For a wolf pup she had been incredibly under-socialised and the presence of the other, larger wolf scared her.
'Neira looked at the soft brown and white wolf, trying to guage wether or not she was a real threat.
((Sorry for the delay - I fell asleep Xx))

Kara eyed the grey warily. She looked like absolute s**t. Why on earth was this old mother and her daughter travelling out this far. These lands were absolutely horrendous. Of course that's why she was out here, right? To find desperate wolves that would cling to her like a bur and never leave her side. Loyal ones that were itching for any kind of help. It got better. The female had a scraggly little pup with her as well.
Kara couldn't trust the other wolf and of course did not believe her when she said she meant no trouble. It didn't much matter, though, even if the other wolf had meant trouble she was not in the shape to battle Kara, especially with her extreme size and agility. When confronted by a heavier built wolf Kara might be worried, and a healthy one at that. However, this female proved not threatening at all.
Knowing that if she was going to run this pack, she better start acting her part Kara took up the Alpha status. Holding her tail high as well as her head, doing her best to asert her status. Something she wasn't very good at and might be easily noted by one well practiced.
She decided the one way to win over this wolves favor was to get her a nice meal. She was well, didn't have a pup to care for and thought a brief hunt would be in order. "Have you eaten?" she asked, somewhat strangely. Wolves typically didn't jump right out and offer to feed another. Then again, Kara wasn't a typical wolf.

The question came somewhat out of the blue to 'Neira. Especially considering the proud bearing of the female who had issued it. 'Neira thought about the implicit implications of this. A trap maybe? Or perhaps this other wolf needed something? Either way the pair were not long for this world if they didn't eat and rest properly soon.
"We have had only small scraps here and there... it's been several weeks since I had more than a few mice and voles." Due to that, Maia had been able to get very little milk, nature's shrewdness coming into play to try to save the older female who could have more litters rather than the young, helpless pup. No point in not telling her, 'Neira thought, she could probably see as much just looking at them. She shivered slightly, the cold air pressing in on her, mist enveloping all three of them and making her feel constricted.
"Why?" she asked, slightly warily, her head dipping submissively to the larger female. Her nerves were shot trying to figure wether she should bolt now. Just what was this other thinking? The grey female flexed the now sore and aching muscles in her shoulders, ready to go if necessary.
The little orange pup salivated at the thought of food. Food meant milk for her. Sweet, delicious milk. She nudged her mothers leg impatiently, wondering when the food and thus her milk would come - she was not old enough to understand that offers of food didn't magically mean instant food or that they might have strings attatched.

Kara listened, mildly intrigued, waiting for the question that she would soon have to answer. She didn't mind it, she was expecting it. It was her own fault for asking so quickly whether the other wanted food. The two didn't sound like they were eating well at all. Definately not something that would bode well for the pair.
"I'm offering you food," she snapped, her hackles raising. She wasn't going to take any crap from the two of them. "No strings, buttons, just food because you look hungry."
She didn't know if snapping at them would do any good, probably not, but she couldn't much care. She shook her head and lowered it, turning to go off in some other direction. She was hungry anyway, a nice meal would be good on a day like this. If the other followed, so be it. She would sit them in one spot anyway while she hunted. Pups would cause to much trouble and she would never catch anything.

'Neira really was in no state to argue at the moment and although the other wolf seemed a little offish she realised this might be the first time she had a chance to feed properly in a good long while. She followed the other wolf, putting on her meekest look. She was no omega but she knew how to act towards other, more agressive, wolves.
In a way she admired this other she wolf. She seemed strong both in will and body and looked like she'd be able to easily defed herself from a male easily. "Thank you." was all she said, not knowing what else she might. She wasn't used to being offered things, really. She had always worked hard to get her food but the thought of another helping, even for one day, warmed her a little.
Maia trailed behind with a small spring in her step. Food? Food was good. Milk was good. Sleep was good. Her small maw widened as she yawned, tired as always. Her eyes were brighter than they had been in days.

Rather surprised her choice of acting angry worked, she blinked once or twice, shook her head, and then lead the way.
At once her mind swithched to alert mode. Everywhere she stepped could alert the prey. Every move that she made could make her catch hard at hand. She herself was not hungry, therefore she would be hunting for one, or rather two. Even at that young age pups ate meat, they started eating meat rather early, after they had poked their little eyes open. She had been raised a pack wolf afterall, she knew about these things.
So when the female responded with thanks Kara could not answer, her mind was to far set on the scents of the surrounding area.
Snap. Her body swung around, then paused, foot poised in the air, ears straining. Her head showed only movements of a twitching nose, looking for the scent of the animal. A gust of wind, though sharp and bitter cold brought the creatures identification to her nose. Doe.
She wasn't sure if she could take down the deer on her own. It depended on the size. She crept forwards, alert and poised for the chase. The deer stamped and looked around, no doubt catching a small piece of her scent. Not a large one, but wary. She needed to ambush it. Whispering low she told the other of her plans.
"I'm going around," she began softly. "When I give a nod I want you to simply walk towards the deer. Just to startle it in my direction." She should be okay, the wind was in her favor on that side, the deer wouldn't know what was comming. This was going to be a good hunt, with plently of meat for two adult wolves and a pup.

'Neira's nose filled with the scent of the deer as the other female swiveled towards it. Her mouth filled with saliva at the thought of a nice, juice haunch. She nodded as the other female gave orders, instantly going into pack-mode, doing exactly as she was told. She knew that this was usually the best way to get things done - to get food in bellies. Being belligerant or over-proud just didn't work in this kin of situation.
'Neira pushed Maia backwards a few steps and told her firmly to 'stay put'. She then crouched down, trying not to make herself visible for now - she didn't want to startle the deer early.
Her fur went flat as she shuffled on her belly to an area where she could watch the other wolf. She waited silently in the longish grass for the signal.

Making sure that the deer was in her sights and the other female was willing to do as told Kara stalked her way around the forest, circling to the other side of the deer. Her footfalls were light, making barely a sound as she knit picked her way along, hoping not to step on a dry leaf or an upright stick. There was barely any wind, the fog intense, making confusing smells for both her and the deer.
At last she made her way around, just barely able to make out the female on the other side of the wood. The doe was stomping and snorting nervously, aware that something was amiss.
Then something awful happened. The wind shifted, the fog was parted for a brief moment and the deer caught scent of Kara. The doe was away in a mad flash, tearing away with terror, in the other females direction.

Hidden in the grass, the shaggy grey she-wolf was surprised when the doe started towards her. With a clattering of hooves it bounded in her direction before any signal had been given. She quickly reformulated the plan in her mind, darting out low and fast towards the deer.
She had intended to try driving it back in the other wolf's direction - Kara was larger and had a better chance of taking down this large animal. She darted up a few metres in front of it, all flashing claws and teeth - a look slightly less effective due to her current beleagured state.
The deer, however, did not stop. Or rather, it did, just not entirely before it collided with 'Neira. The wolf mostly managed to dodge but took a glancing blow to the hip as the long limbed herbivore slammed into the ground. Her leg ached but... maybe the other female would have a chance before the doe regained her footing.
