Some ways from the mansion is a beach that has sandy shores that seem to go on for miles. Crystal blue waves crash against the shores gently and fiercely in storms. A river runs into the ocean from the forest. All in all, it's a very nice place for one to come and relax in the warm sun.

After a while, they arrived at the beach and Mari took her sandles off so she could walk barefoot on the warm sand. Looking over the ocean, she smiled and enjoyed the view. They got closer to where the water was, but stayed out of it's distance as she layed a blanket on the beach.

"I know. It's such a lovely day." She sat on her knees and put her bag and sandles down in the corner of the blanket.

Mari smiled as he held her. "Really? How did you manage that? You'd think they would find you in an open place like a beach, easily."

"Where is he now?" She was always interested in his stories of when he was gone. She loved to listen to him.

*lowers his head a bit remembering that day* he... didn't make it. there i had to get into the building where the leader was but there was a froce field keeping us out. this man was a genious though and developed a machine that could take it out. the plan was that he would take down the shield long enough for me to get in and then he'd make his escape. but there was so many that came after us at once. i couldn't stop them and they killed him... there wasn't anything i could do to save him...
*he tightens his grip on her should as he explained his story*

She felt his grip tighten and put her hand on the giant scar on his chest. "Did this happen on that day?" She looked up at him through her gray eyes.

She rubbed his cheek and gave a small smile. "No... It's not your fault. You both did what you had to."

"It sounds like my berserker blood." She probably would have surprised him. Before he had left, Maris had told him not to mention a thing about it to her. Well, during the year she had figured it out.
