A subject that has been much under debate since.... well practically since he graced our screens/manga pages.
So now is your choice.
WHICH VIEW DO YOU SUBSCRIBE TO?
Is Kai a poor tortured soul, swept up by the winds of fate and thrown into Balcov Abbey to be tortured abused etc etc
OR
Is he a spoiled brat who needs to learn a good thing when he sees one and needs to get over the fight he and his grandfather had over whether the dishcloth should be green or purple.
YOUR CHOICE.
Alternatives are welcomed with much hilarity.
Debate is also welcomed with same.
Yes, this IS just a ploy to keep the guild alive- make it work.

he's angst ridden becuase his favourite shade of blue face paint was destroyed by his dog. v.v
it wasn't just any shade of blue, oh noes it was the best shade. and when he saw he beloved dog run of an bury it he fell to pieces. he would never be the same again.
and he could never get the same shade again as he couldn't remember it and the label was still on the bottle.
now he was sentenced to a life of torture to find the right shade and shape for his emo triangles.
he was scarred for life by this traumatic experience. v.v

Now v. important question- how much credance do you give Kai's angsty torture filled fanon past at the abbey?
I want to know how many people actually believe in it 100%
Because I see fics on it all the time.
And I have to stop reading before my mum wakes up from the loud loud laughter.

Or just one of them being so?

I go as far as major physichal abuse in fiction, rape is not accepted by me for some reason. But in real life a slap is enough to make me fly off handle... and rape makes me want to shred something... something alive... Yes... I'm psycho!

WolfyD I think the whole rapist thing is a bit out of line, I mean Voltaire is still his grandfather. And as for Boris...*shivers* I don't even want to picture him touching Kai/chibi Kai or any of the Demolition boys!
Actually, I like whipping room idea too. ^_^
*falls over* you have no idea how much that scares me. The whippin' room theory is just so. bleh. I have no words- it's my favourite element to pay out in -any- story. Also stories where everyone gets tortured for no apparent reason apart from the author wishes to write a whippin'/rape scene rolleyes maybe I'm just a cynic though. At the moment I'm haveing a bit of a Balcov love-affair. He's misunderstood. Balcov is a sweetpea. 3nodding
