Save Cid instead of letting him die in the WoR? And if so how did you find out about the trick? I stumbled upon it on accident, my game kept spawning fast fish and after a couple times he mentioned he was feeling better, I was shocked at first, then kinda realised that the slow fish's item description was a rotten fish so maybe I had been killing him before.
(For anyone that doesn't know, which at this point seems unlikely. If you feed Cid only the fish that swim really fast, he will be cured instead of dieing, and you can go back and visit him any time you want.)

I did it, don't remember if you get anything for it though... I suppose Celes doesn't do the suicide thing thinking there's no hope, but nothing practical. Personally, I liked it better when Cid died and the tragedy ensued.
I found out about it my second time through the game. Someone I knew had the players guide and I happened to overhear him talking about saving Cid. I was amazed and asked how you did it. Kind of wish I had figured it out for myself, but that can't be helped.

No. As cruel as it sounds, I purposely killed him. sweatdrop I just like really deep, emotional scenes like the one which followed.

Ill never forget that scene. My friend and I just kept stufffing fish down his gullet until he croaked ( we had no idea what the hell we were doing.)
When Celes made her little trip up the mountain side, my best friend and I were were simutaneously chanting "Jump! Jump!" Imagine our surprise when she actually did....

First post here, so welcome all (didn't see aintroduce yourself threaf, so I'll mention it now)
I actually thought that Cid would actually join you and be part of your team. Sadly enough, all that happens is that he survives and he shows you where the boat/raft is and Celes doesn't do the leap of faith. The only thing I never got was that Cid stayed on the island, he never left it, even if you came back. It was weird.

The first time I played through I let Shadow die and I killed Cid. I suppose I would have never gotten to see the cliff scene if I didn't. The second time through the game I bought the guide so the both lived that time around. Which reminds me of some funny text back when you save Shadow in the Vedlt. The call him a she.

Because they didn't make alternate text for shadow and relm. If you don't wait for shadow, relm is the one in the cave. Which brings up an odd question.... How it shadow can survive falling off the eastern edge of the continent, but no the northern edge. I mean the ship doesnt exactly get very far before it's blown to hell.

I suppose that if he falls from the continent rather than the airship, he's too close the release of the statues' power to survive. The airship was skidaddling from that place as fast as a luxury racing-zeplin can, meanwhile Shadow's stuck right next to the focal point of all magic in the world just before it's released to raze the surface of the planet. Bad place to be.

That was one of my favorite scenes. FF6 set a standard for drama in RPGs, it was great. Poor Cid... I had no idea how to save him, gonk
