Surely if the doctor has a tardis, then he could travel back in time and save the time lords from having to sacrifice themselves in the war, or find a way to bring them all back?
i mean the war was meant to be the end of all the darleks and all the timelords, but the darleks have found a loop hole or something, why can't the doctor do the same thing and bring back his own people?

It's not a good idea. Didn't the Doctor say he couldn't in Father's Day? It's because it would mess up time even more. Another paradox. More reapers. It's not that it can't be done, but the reprucussions might end up destroying everyone in the universe except the Time Lords. The Doctor just can't do that.

I do beleave he can't because it would, as Sepik said, create a paradox.

He couldn't because the war was fought 'outside' time to all intents and purposes. Gallifrey exists outside normal temporal restraints and that's how the doctor's people are able to manipulate the time streams of everywhere else. The daleks just got in one day and all hell broke loose <.<
At least, that's what's generally considered canon. In the books they go into more detail about how the Gallifreyians took themselves 'out' of time because they felt they were such an awesome race. Think LOTR elves with time machines and you pretty much have the gist of it :3

As everyone else said it would create a massive paradox, possibly destroying the fabric of the entire Space-Time Continuum in the process. The only way to do it with the TARDIS without ripping the universe apart would be for a Bad Wolf style being to recreate it from scratch.

there would be a giant pocket of time.. in a loop. plus Galifrey was always in its own pocket dimention adjacent to the universe. There are about six reasons that it can't happen. If your going to argue this point.. please do more reaserch.

The only reason the Daleks come back is because they are Machines and they Harvest the Humans into Daleks in every Space,Time and Universe.

Well I dunno about why not, but I can say this:
Eventually the writers will bring the Time Lords back. During some Season's Finale they'll say "Hey let's do this and this and this and YAY! Time Lords."
Because you know somehow they're going to keep the Doctor alive beyond his 12th regeneration and the Doctor certainly wouldn't just take someone else's body -- like the Master.

Like my Dad always says everything has gotta end eventually and Doctor Who will end someday and if The Doctor has only 12 Regenerations then thats when it will end but there is a possiblity that they will think of something to keep him going on.

well there ahd to be loads of people who thought that it had ended back in the eighties but for all we know the doctor could go on for thirty regenerations untill the year 2090 and beyond...
But then again here's a thought, there are hundreds of parralel universes right? hense where the cybermen came form, surely in that world there would have been time lords or if not that one, other parrallel universes
