((Posting order -- Me, Ipod, and Kealdra; and Kolina whenever we get to the pride. <33))
Motomilia was glad of the added company Keeni provided. She led the way across the hot sands to where she'd left Mpaji, hoping he was where she'd left him -- and also half-hoping he'd run off.
"Where have your travels taken you, Keeni?" she asked idly, mostly to pass the time than anything else.
((Sorry so short, stupid thunderstorms T__T -runs off-))

Keeni trailed behind the red female silently admiring her. He really didn't want to speak at all at the moment, he was at a loss of words, at that.
That was until she spoke, and asked a question. Well, I haven't been around too much. Especially since Firekin aren't accepted in many places. My mother fled far away, i'm sure. It took me many moons to reach here. I do recall some goodie golden lions that never shut up about how wonderful life was and all. I was only on the border. They didn't really appreciate that.
He sighed and looked back at the lonely land behind them. He was ever so curious to why some lions acted the way they did. Was it purely because of their beliefs and religions?

Upendo M'paji was in no way whatsoever having a good time. No he wasn't. That butterfly, that wasn't fun. And eating all the grass reeds he could find strewn about the desert landscape. No fun at all. Or even throwing sand over that side winder and fleeing from its jaws, even that was dull.
Motomillia had left him here all alone. It wasn't particularily fun. Then again, what was now? Mpaji had grown in their travels, now a fiery adolescent with a temper and an attitude, which he made sure to promptly lock away in the sights of any other lions. He was still a cub at heart, though, serving under Moto in more ways than he realized.
Golden ears rotated as he thought he could hear voices. A slight grin passed over his maw. He decided he would stalk and pounce whatever it was. Perhaps it would be Moto and then he could tug on her ear like he did when he was younger. Waggling his little white tail he slowly began to creep forwards, moving up over the dunes. He didn't want to see whoever it was just yet, for that meant he could see them, so he continued around.
Of course, he was an adolescent so it didn't occur to him to smell and check for two lions or to see if any of them were dangerous firekin. Play was on his mind, and he intended to get it one way or another. Using the sounds, though faint he worked his way around the underside of the dune, just out of sight. Finally he felt he was in range. Giving his hind end a little jiggle to gear him up he tore over the top of the sand dune and bounded his way over to tackle the red female to the ground. Victorious!

Motomilia flicked her tail-tuft, giving a side-long smile as Keeni responded. She nodded at his answer, knowing all too well the feelings he described. Firekin weren't at all trusted in many of the places she'd traveled. "I stayed away from other prides, myself," she replied with a twitch of an ear. "I do know the pride you mentioned, though. They simply call themselves the Pridelanders, yes? And the Mistweavers," she added with a small shudder. "I've passed through their jungle territory once or twice. Water-lovers, the lot of them. Weak wretches."
M'paji's scent wafted toward her once more. He'd wandered little in the time she'd left him alone, and she thought again, as she had a few times in the past, that maybe he might survive slave-hood among the Motoujamii. He seemed to be obeying her well enough, though that sharp tongue and added temper of his might well get him into a fair amount of trouble.
Then his scent seemed to change direction, and she turned to follow it just as a large yellow-brown puffball barrelled her over, knocking the wind out of her and forcing a startled yowl from her throat.
The "puffball" turned out to be none other than M'paji, who was much heavier than Motomilia seemed to remember. It was in that confused instant when she realized how much he'd grown over the past few weeks. "Upendo M'paji! What in the world --" It wasn't often she used his full name, but as she hurried to pick herself back up and shake the sand from her flame-colored pelt, she felt a surprising mix of irritation and amusement at the juvenile's antics.
She did her best to regain her composure, deciding against giving him a verbal tongue-lashing. Instead she switched topics entirely.
"M'paji, this is Keeni. Respect him; he is Motoujamii, like Kwana and I."

Keenihabu just rolled his eyes at the sight of the younger lion as it came over the dune, for he truely hated the little runts. As soon as M'paji tackled down Motomilia, he fled to her side, and let out a threatening roar. He wanted this non-blood to see his place in ranking, it was obviously drastically lower than his own, at that. After snorting in disgust, he turned back to the female, and nodded.
Yes, M'paji. He glared at the adolescent with narrowed eyes. You seem to be weak, at that. You need to toughen it up around here, and stop playing childish games. Once we get to the Motoujamii, it won't be all fun and games. No, it'll be worse, for you atleast. He stopped speaking, and returned to walking. As he passed the younger lion, he sent out a quiet growl his way.
He walked back up to Motomilia's side, and nudged her gently. Are you alright? He looked back, sighing sadly. I'm sorry for doing that to him, but it was for his own good. If hes going to be a slave, hes not going to be around to play and have fun. Especially if you plan on giving him to Kimeti. He paused, and then questioned it for a moment. ... ... or do you plan on keeping him?

Mpaji cocked his head at the lion's roaring. This seemed odd. He furrowed his brows together and cocked his lower jaw qiuzically. There was no need to roar at him, he hadn't done anything wrong. Besides that he seemed to wish to prove himself more powerful with a mere roar, this was strange, bewildering and Mpaji had no idea how to act on it. "At least I'm not a grumpy old arse," he responded, sitting down onto his haunches. He didn't care for this one. The firekin Queen he met earlier was much kinder, he thought, and much less stupid. She didn't use roars to try and show her position. She knew she had one and showed it.
He wanted to keep spitting out insults, but he held his tongue for Moto. It was only one, and he knew that the only strikes comming from this male would be dishonored one's. Not even worthy of the pain they dealt. "Besides, if it will be worse, then I'm going to have all the fun I can now. Why should I crawl in a hole and die just because you told me to?" He asked. It wasn't sarcastic, or threatening, it was a simple question. Adolescence had taught him that sarcastic streak, though. Already he hated this lion. What on earth was he doing with Moto? He seemed bird brained and in need of a lesson in cub raising.
He heard everything the male said and it made him twitch even more. He showed nothing but Malice towards Mpaji, and he wouldn't have it. At least the queen saw him for what he was worth. "You make a sucky Motoujamii," he said, letting out a huff and burrowing in the sand, refusing look look at Moto because that's where he was with his sickly little notions.

"M'paji." The word was a warning to shut him up, but it came out much less harsh than she had intended. Unsure of what to do next, she did what she knew how to do -- ignored the rest of the situation, instead turning back to Keeni.
Motomilia nodded to the male, considering Keeni's inquiry before responding. Her intentions were to give the rogue over to Kimeti, but her brother and King could just as easily grant her custody of him.
"...That's for the King to decide," she answered shortly, but not quite unkindly.
"Come on," she directed the adolescent. "The sooner we get home, the better." Her pace quickened and her paw pads tingled, itching for the feel of Firekin sands now more than ever.

Keeni slanted his eyes and grinned in the direction of M'paji. He desired soo much to just simply hurt him and leave him out to die in the desert all on his own; but he was still childish -- and somewhere deep down inside of himself, he'd never hurt a young one. Even if it was the most obnoxious annoyance to ever sweep the block.
Rolling his eyes, he completely ignored the younger lion, and blocked him from his mind. The adult male padded swiftly up beside Motomilia and brushed against her with a smile across his mug.
Keenihabu'bwana had his own plan in his mind for when he returned to his old home. He was hopping his new female companion would be willing to agree on it. Once M'paji was out of the picture, atleast he'd be able to get more personal with Moto. That was his plan in mind from the very beginning, ever since he first laid eyes on the female. His grin never seemed to fade, it continued on as he admired her a few inches away.
So, Motomilia, have any plans of what your going to do once we return home? I wanted to ask you an important question -- but I really didn't feel comfortable asking with a little mindless runt around. He shot a glare at the younger lion that was trailing many feet behind the pair. If Keeni's fur was white, he'd be blushing. The grin on his face instantly wiped away, as he chuckled a moment, nervously. ... ... i've been meaning to ask you if you plan on starting a family once we make it back to the Firekin Lands. I don't really know if you like me at all or not, and I know this isn't the greatest time to be asking ... ... He looked down at the ground, pausing for a moment.
Motomilia, I've been thinking about family lately, and well ... ... I really want to spend that family with you. Your different from the other lionesses, Moto. Your a lot more nicer. He suddenly was spilling everything out, like a glass of fallen milk. He'd kept most of his thoughts bottled up for the month or so with their time together, and this was something that mean't more to him than anything. He sighed, and looked down, awaiting to see the response of the female beside him. He was more afraid than anything, of being rejected -- since that was a common practice around him.

M'paji had ears fit for kings. He could pick up on every little tid bit of information that the large lion whispered to Moto. What he heard worried him to know end. A large lump filled in his throat, ears flicked back to a hardening skull, his eyes became distraught with the aprehension of what was to come. If Motomilia started a family, where would that leave him?
The answer came to him quickly.
Dead.
Moto would have children, she would become the mother that she had so been to him. An awesome power in the world, but none the less, a power that would no longer have any knowledge of his existence. There was nothing he could do. His tail sunk low between his legs, swaying slightly. Moto was going to leave him to this Firekin. He saw it in the way she tolerated him, almost expressed joy in his arrival. He swallowed as best he could, but the rock in his esophogus would not leave. It stayed there, paining his memory.
Once Moto left he was Firekin fodder. He didn't know if he could deal with Kemeti, the slave for this leader that he would become. A leader that had cast out the Queen, one who had shown him respect, while still showing him his place. A Firekin that rested one spot below Moto in his mind, even in the short occurance of meeting. His paws slid on harsh sand as he slid backwards, watching the closeness.
He wasn't mindless, he knew it, but he wouldn't have a mind to use much longer if things continued in their sporatic downfall. A faltered breath escaped his lips, letting the end of him fall behind it. The sand stirred with the sudden preasure, but soon ceased, brining silence to his rounded ears. He swallowed once more, his head cocked to the side as he watched them walk, his mind now empty of thought. He engulfed himself in each step, he guessed it was time to turn and go, but he'd watch them leave, realizing that each step she took without realizing Upendo M'paji was silently sitting behind them, the distance slowly increasing, it was proven fact that her family would leave him no more than a carcass in the lands of fire. Englufed by the sand forevermore. Such was life, and so he would have to accept it. When he could no longer make out their tails swishing, he would leave these sanded lands and the world so set out for him.

((Moto refuses to cooperate with me. biggrin -comes out of this fight all beaten, scratched and bloody-))
Motomilia's ears twitched as she walked. For a long while she said nothing, letting Keeni's words sink in... not that she really needed to. For the moment, M'paji went unnoticed.
She took her time choosing her words, but once her response had been decided, she took little time in delivering an answer.
"I am not a family girl, Keeni." She spoke shortly, her tone neutral. Her mind had not gone to the possibility of cubs but once -- upon meeting M'paji, and realizing that she abhorred children. "If you want me, you're going to have to do better than that."
It was certainly not a "yes", but depending on the way one interpreted it, the "no" really wasn't there either.
Pleasureable company she had not a problem with -- when it came to the prospect of raising children and all that lovey-dovey crap, however, her mind blanched.
She was not her mother, and never would be.

Keenihabu'bwana sunk low as he walked. Unfortunatly, he really didn't have much to say in return -- he was just shocked by her response.
Oh, I see. He blankly stared at the ground, as he sighed sadly. He really thought Motomilia would be different, and fall in love with him, but he was wrong. Although, he surely wasn't going to give up that easy, he was going to keep on trying until he got her.
He slanted his eyes, grinning at the lioness. And I will do better than that, don't you worry.

Time past with the swirling of sand. It danced around him, laughing, throwing sands into his eyes. Mocking him. He gave it a hurtful glance and looked away. Only to be resummoned by a voice he knew to well. A whispering tone that he had grown to know as his safe haven and his only source of love in the hating world. The voice was to faint, and so Mapji relied on the expression. There was nothing dissaproving in her face, it seemed only thoughtful, if that. Almost as if nothing touched her face to contort his slender calm. He had heard the question. There was no outrage that meant safety.
The hard lump in his throat swallowed. It wasn't a sure thing yet, he hadn't heard the answer. The next few minutes turned over slowly, inching through the pages of time as though the reader felt like dwelling on that very moment. A short pause turned into endless hours, until at last what seem discomfort from the dipping of one's head, turned into misery for M'paji. There was no mistakig the smile that graced the males face. M'paji recoiled, as if struck by a snake, hitting the sand with his back.
If it were possible, tears might have come to his eyes. He knew what that smile meant, and he knew his doom was coming. There was nothing to do now, but run. His feet dug into the sand, his blood pumping with shock, even though the exertion of moving had hardly begun. In a flash of gold he was on his feet, tearing up the earth behing him.
Run.
That was the only thought that touched his mind. He made himself think of this one thing, not try and realize what horrors he left behind him. Perhaps he would go find Kwana, yes, the sister, he would find her and follow in her footsteps, learning until he could return and maybe then he'd have enough status to show Moto her grave mistake with this other lion. For abadonning him, and running off to start a family of her own, for not realizing he was there.
M'paji could not think thoughts of hatred. He knew no knowledge of killing or revenge, so no harm would ever come to any no matter how much power he could ever obtain, but he believed his voice might guide the way.
Unfortunately, when one is young and blinded by shock and sadness, especially the realization you are potentially dead, the direction in which you run isn't something you consider.
Without realizing it, Moto was running farther and farther into the lands of the Firekin, towards the King that would decide his fate.
