It seems like people are disturbed by my asexuality, and want me to be sexual. But you know, even if I were to be sexual, I wouldn't have sex with those guys >.>

I try to avoid getting too much of a victim complex. I highly doubt they HATE us.
I definitely say that they don't understand. And on some level, I don't blame them. Sexual urges and attractions are something that is ingrained into a lot of people, to the point where it can be considered a necessity on the level with food. That is, it's so basic a concept to them they can't understand how anyone could survive without being sexual. It's a gut reaction that I think comes from both nature and nurture, instinct and environment.
People also like to jump on the bandwagon of picking on whoever it's popular to pick on. Bisexuals get it a lot as well. They really don't know anything about the subject, but some other guys are bashing it, so hey, let's look cool and bash along. In my experience GD is full of instances like that.
And beyond that, it IS true that some asexuality is temporary and some people really just haven't bloomed/found the right person/whatever. Now, that doesn't mean I don't consider them asexual for the time being, but people do get skeptical.
Now, I don't think asexuality is quite the "fad" that people are making it out to be. I know there was a time where it was "cool" to be gay or bi. But I just don't see, in a world like ours where sex is everywhere, how it would be cool to stand up and say "Hey, I don't want sex." At least not on the level of "coolness" for one to say "Hey, I'm a girl who kisses other girls."
Some people will never change. Every minority group will have its hecklers until the end of time. But I think the more people are exposed, the fewer skeptics we'll have.

I think it's because people shun others who are different. I totally agree with Ummy, but it's hard for me to tell myself that they see things in a different way. I would research a topic before discussing about it; I don't understand how others don't do so.

When people get involved in and judge people's lives like that, it irritates me. No reason to do so. Who actually cares that we don't want to sleep with other people? Who died because we've never been attracted to anyone sexualy?
The other thing prevalent in that thread is the most annoying thing in the universe: the assumption that every person thinks, feels and perceives in the exact same way to them.
C'est tres...selfishe?

Thus the incurred outrage upon the discovery of difference. "What? You like tomatoes? How dare you? Tomatoes should rot in hell!"
...you know what I mean. It is annoying, but what can we do about it?

That makes me sad. D:
Seriously.
The stupidity and the insults.
Well...at least there were a few reasonable people.
But, yanno...it's people like...some of those people that just make me want to go live on Mars. Alone. AWAAAAY.
Too bad I have a family and friends, ne?
Ha-ha, I'm joking. Or maybe I'm not... u.u

Think of the poor people who are homoromantic then. Like me.
Before I'm going to take you serious, stop referring homosexuals as 'homos'.
Also, what's up with 'hated'? As in past tense? I'm pretty sure that my black eye still stands for something...

But I think the more people are exposed, the fewer skeptics we'll have. I still find it funny that people think it's cool to be gay.
Holy crap, about half the country still treats you like pond scum and won't let them get married! I mean, what's cool about being discriminated against? and it's not that I think it's cool to be asexual, any more than I think it's cool to have blue eyes. It's just a fact that I can't really change. I can cover it up, but I'd rather not.
Funny about the whole 'jumping on the bandwagon' thing. I didn't even know there WAS a bandwagon. I just got pissed at my mom one day for insinuating that I was gay, so I looked up the term for 'nonsexual' and found 'asexual'. Now I feel secure, like I've found something that's true about me.
Also, about the sexual human instinct...I think that homosexuality and asexuality are probably, on some level, evolution's way of dealing with the human overpopulation on a sort of 'put a lid on the boiling pot' level. That's my opinion; granted, some homosexuals still have children, as do asexuals, but give evolution a chance.
Finally, anyone who has any rebuttals to my arguments, please tell me so I'll be better informed. I hate to be ignorant.
