Having multiple aliases isn't about 'making up your mind' or about multiple personalities *G* it's about marketing. A lot of times when an author is signed to a publishing house they are signed into specific genres. It may not be possible for them to write in other genres as such, fans may not recognize that the writer is trying something new. Having multiple aliases is also necessary for those who write for different publishing companies. It's really an easy way to separate writing styles as well. Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb write totally different stories even though they are the same person.
