does anyone in this guild play flyball with their dogs?

I thought about it once, but all I had to do was look at my dog and I knew he wouldn't be interested in it. XD

In a way it's like fast-forward fetch, right? My dog won't even do it in slo-mo.

I'd love to do flyball, but I probably have the worst possible dogs for it. My older dog is turning thirteen next week and is so shaky on his feet that he would probably break a leg on the first jump, and as for my youngest he's not only the slowest dog I've ever met, he's the clumsiest.

So much for getting me a dog to do activities with.

It's sounds fun, but like I said previously, my dog wouldn't enjoy it.

Once he got the ball in his mouth, he'd stop and chew on it. If he decided he wanted to chew on a ball. The only other thing he would do is go check out the other dogs. ><

I may not be totally correct, as I've only seen it on TV, but it's basically fetch and a relay race in one. There's a team of several dogs, and they have to race across several jumps, grab a tennis ball, and race back, and then the next one goes. From what they said on Animal Planet, the "best teams" are usually made up of several border collies and a smaller dog, because the hight of the jumps is based on the hight of the smallest dog on the team.

It looks like a really fun game to play with your dog.

Yeah, thats basically correct.but alot of times teams with other dogs are really fast too.Our team usually has a Malinois, a italian greyhound, a terrier, and a dobermann. We usually get 2nd in our division

I'd like to do flyball, but I'm putting all my time and effot into agility right now. I see a lot of people writing that they don;t think their dog could do it or would enjoy it. But there are classes you can take where people show you how to properly train your dog how to do it. And once they get the hang of it, you'd be surprised, how into it they can get. yesterday I was watching on the outdoor life network a litle terrier doing flyball, the dog in the "lane" (don't know proper termenoligy sorry) next to him came into his lane and dropped his ball, and the little dog just coudln't decide which ball he should bring back, and he continue to drop one and pick up the other till the owner just went and got him, it was soooo cute.

I was keen to get my dog into flyball but there was no classes near to where I lived at the time. Now though it's a bit late as she is 13 years old now. But if I could have I would have and I know my dog would have loved it. She has the build for it. She isn't a breed, I got her as a rescue, and I have no definiative clue of what she is a mix of. My best guess is there is some greyhound and retriever and possibly border collie in her. She is good at hurdles, even now she can jump twice her height, and she loves toys and LOVES running. I am just gutted that Flyball passed her by. Partly my fault but I got her when I was 15 and I don't drive so distance was limited. Overall life was coniving against me.

I love watching Flyball when it comes to Crufts every year. It's an exilerating sport, even when just watching. I tend to root of the team that has =any non border collies in it. Yay for the underdog!
