Akira Ryuichi vs. Marquis Quintillius de Seigneur

FIGHT!
PostPosted: Thu Jun 29, 2006 10:39 am

Akira walked into the arena nonchalantly, the two pistols at his side bumping against his legs with the rytmic motion of his gait. He did not see his opponent in the area, but he would come soon enough and this was the thought that made him brighten up. He couldn't wait to test his skills against another skilled competitor, and he knew that his sword was itching for new blood. Finally reaching roughly the center of the Arena, Akira stopped and waited, idly running his hands over the cool metal of his pistols.

The figure that Akira would find in battle was one most wouldn't expect to see. He was young, but he walked with a limp in his left leg. An assortment of plate armour was worn over his regular clothes and enscrolled upon them was a number of arcane enchantments.

There was an old flintlock holsered at his left flank with a blade on his right. But was most unusual was that when he walked he made an infernal racket as the armour clanked with each step that was made even longer because he had to literally drag his left leg foward. It was only due to the help of his cane that he was able at all to enter the arena in this absurdly wild garb.

Lifting the vizor of his helm he then took it off and held it with his right hand and looked at his foe.

"Good day I say to you sir. How fare thee?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 10, 2006 12:09 pm

Akira eyed his opponent for a few moments before he slowly replied. "I fare well. Are you ready to fight sir?" His hand strayed slowly down to the massive desert eagle that hung at his sides. The massive armor piercing bullets would do the trick on a train or an elephant, they would surely be able to pierce the armor on this man. However this was not the only thing that happened in the brief span of seconds.

Depending on how aware his opponent was of magical energies, or if his opponent used magic he would begin to feel something odd. Something that itched at the back of his brain. Something was out of place here, something very important but not intrusive enough as to ring any bells. Currently it would only register as the tricklings of paranoia and unease. There was something about Akira that was deeply unsettling. However, it might just be his eyes, the dead cold in them showing his intentions. This was much like any job that he had ever taken, he was here to pacify opposition and leave.

To any with the witch sight, or ability to see magic, they would see bands of blue, white, and green flowing along the form of Quin. The green flowed especially into his left leg as he hobbled foward. The blue strip would show much to the man.

Gazing through the stream he could guess into the future of what would happen. The man's firearm was of little concern to him; but then nothing much ever seemed to trouble him. Thus was the life of a noble men, boredom with what existed to the point of needing to seek out even more fool hardy schemes.

Oh what fun it all was, it was as though the joy of the moment welled up inside of him and he could not hold it in any longer. And lo and behold for life seemed to mimic his thoughts for all the straps of his armour, all the clasps and buckles came undone tell he stood in a simple trowsers, tunic, and jerkin. The set of pistols with him and sword still at his sides.

"Well then, shall we have at it."

His hands traced along the curve of the stock for the aged flintlock, it had never failed him; and it most certianly wouldn't now.

In fact, any who had witch sight would see nothing. No swirling energies, no bands of blue white and green, nothing. Not only around the other man, but Akira, and the area around the two themselves, this was the strange part. Normally there should be some sort of energy signature somewhere, but there was nothing. It was then that the weird feeling in Akira's opponent would come into sharp relief. That faint feeling that his opponent had been picking up on, it was coming from Akira.

Akira merely smiled at the other man, who was no doubt at this point in time trying to figure out what was going on. Akira closed his hand upon the hilt of his gun, keeping it there, while he opened his lips to speak. "That feeling that you have, that dropping anxious feeling, like you're missing a part of your soul. That's me, or more specifically that's the field that surrounds me, which you stepped into, that negates magic and the supernatural. Are you ready to fight?" His smile quickly turned into a smirk, his hand moving away from the hilt of his gun to the sword strapped on his back. He decided that he would give the other man a chance, instead of just shooting the man in the head and ending the match there.

"I lost my soul long ago. I gave it up for great power. And you are not one to deny me that ability."

The winds of magic were true enough; they blew from the northlands and there was nothing supernatural about the abilities that he tapped into. They were the scientific persuit of knowlege of some other higher plane that obeyed laws of its own.

"There is no negation of magic as all that I do is a manipulation of the physical world through means which you do not grasp. It is no different then the process by which the powder in your bullets combust to propell your rounds foward."

But then his hand moved towards his sword as well; "But then if you insists in your futile efforts then I see nothing that I can do but meat you by the blade of steel."

Pulling the broad sword blade much like a mortuary sword from its scabbard he brought it up in a one handed stance. His right flank facing his opponent, legs slightly bent with the right foot bent at an angle from Akira. His right arm was held bent but with the hilt of the weapon at shoulder height and the tip aiming for the man that stood before Quin.

"Try not to be too much of a fool, any and all abilities can be surpassed. It is just a trial of strength and strategy."

Akira smiled at the other man and nodded. "A test of steel it is then." His right arm jerked forward and down, unsheathing the Katana that was strapped to his back, extending to just above his right shoulder. The sound of steel grating on steel rang through the air with a sharp remark, echoing through the arena.

Akira's knees bent, bringing him on a low stance to the ground, his right leg slightly forward, his left slightly to the back. He clasped his sword in an odd way though, instead of holding it like one would normally hold the blade he held it back hand style, the handle of the blade the very front most part when it came to it's spatial orientation towards his opponent. The edged part of the blade ran parralel with his arm backwards, the extremely sharp edge facing away from his forearm.

Akira's eyes light up with the prospect of the coming battle, this is what he lived for and he would prove to the other man that he was not just an insolent twerp. He would prove his power right here and now. Akira's eyes closed briefly, seemingly in a meditative trance, after a few seconds of standing like this, his eyelids snapped open. Around him, fifteen feet in diameter, a sphere became tangibly visible. It bent and warped at it's edges, a tinge of faint blue the only indicator that it was there at all. Still smiling he stared his opponent down. "Though my latent shield leeches energy off of others I never said that I didn't have energy within my own being that I could power it with." The force of the field became stronger, Akira's essence beaming with a strange power.

It was then that he moved to action, his right leg pushed off the ground, propelling him forward. At this point his left came into contact with the ground and he was in a run, dashing towards his opponent. Though he was running, his stance still remained low the the ground to make a small target, in this crouched state he was roughly three and half feet off of the ground at his highest point. Upon reaching about five feet away from his opponent Akira propelled himself down and forward, his left shoulder hitting the ground, the momentum and movement of his body but him into a roll diagonlly down the left of the flat of his back. At the end of his roll his body popped up from the ground, on his opponents right hand flank. Akira used the sudden upwards jolt in his momentum to put more force behind his sword strike, his right hand moving fluidly in front of him, then like a spring being unleashed it shot diagonally up to the right, driving the blade up towards the other man's armpit, where he knew there was a gap in the man's armor.

What a strange stance his opponent was taking. With such an odd grip the man would have to get far too close to strike Quin and then he would just skewer himself if he was to get close enough to strike.

Though Quin had to chuckle when the man went on about his little tangent about his "anti magic" field. The man was clearly proving himself all the more ignorant. Even though Quin may call what he did magic he could still achieve the same results through technology. They were inseperatable.

Watching contently in his own fighting stance Quin waited for the opportunity to strike. At five feet the man threw himself against the ground, landing harshly upon his shoulder. It would most likely bruise because of the hard stone that lay beneath the thin layer of sand.

Shifting his feet he always kept Akira infront of him, keeping his same stance when Akira rose up to perform his strike he would find himself skewered upon the thrusting schianova.

As Akira held his blade in such an odd way he would need to close far closer to strike Quin then Quin had to strike him. And so it was that when Akira came up he was pressed against the tip of Quin's sword against the base of his throat while Quin's left hand slammed against the pommel of Akira's katana before he could complete his slash. Closing his fingers about it he laughed.

"Fool that you be, you had to get far too close to strike me a blow while I could easily pierce you."

Though Quin's counterattack would have been good, there was one thing that he had to keep in mind. All of the armor on his body was constantly constricting the knight's movements and causing his reactions to not be quite as quick as the much smaller unarmored man that he was fighting.

Indeed Quin's sword did move in a piercing motion towards Akira, however instead of stabbing at the man's neck it was deflected aside, in mid motion, while his sword shot diagonally up towards his opponent, Akira jerked his entire body, rotating it to the left in a spin. The motion caused the flat of his sword to clang against Quin's, which was pushed aside. Also due to the change in momentum and direction Quin's left hand never found the pommel of Akira's sword. ((I'm not really down with the whole autohit thing that you did but whatev.)) Though how he could of in the first place, since the pommel of the sword was located directly in front of Akira's chest and his right hand side faced towards Quin, but this did not matter now.

Letting the momentum of the spin that he had put himself into carry him, Akira made about half a complete rotation, at this point he bent his knees, bringing him yet again bringing him extremely low to the ground, again making him a hard target, by creating a smaller area, or more condensed area as it were, the velocity of the spin boosted, spinning him around faster. It was at this point that his right arm spun around and his wrist aligned itself in a way that the blade pointed perpendicularily straight out from his hand forming a capital T which had been rotated 90 degrees to the left. Akira's left hand closed on the end of the sword as well, bracing his grip and the sword for the impact. Akira's spin brought the extremely sharp end of his blad around and down right at about shin heigth on Quin. If he wasn't careful he would be missing his feet. ((By the way this all happened in like 2 seconds, I just made sure to describe it fully for you.))

It is a sad thing that his opponent still thought he was wearing the armour when it has so visibly fallen from his form earlier in the fight. Quin was able to move unhindered by the armour and even if he still wore it he would be just as fast as out of it as the nature of armour does not slow one's speed down; but instead tires them out more quickly then out of it.

And so it was that the sword strike was true, the feeble attempt at a perry would not work as the man would have to shift his hand far too much as he had held his blade in a reverse dagger grip and had swung it upwards in a slash to strike at Quin's left armpit. At no point durring Quin's strike would the sword be in place to block the thrust.

Akira was simply too close, Quin's reach was that of his outstretched arm plus that of his sword while Akira's was only that of his arm's length. Further because of the angle Quin had an advantage as he could strike from where Akira was going to be as he had crashed to the ground to rise up while Quin needed only angle his blade slightly and thrust it foward, there was far more chance for his blow to strike true then for his opponent to dodge.

But if his opponent had shifted his body, rotating so that he moved with the movement of his slash then Quin's blade running along the flat of Akira's for a moment would find its target in the base of his neck. Clearly the more conservative movements Quin was displaying was giving him a hand over the more liberal ones Akira employed. Not even Akira's spin could save him as even a glancing blow to the neck would ultimately prove fatal.

(recap of what has been done based upon the words so far.

Akira charges Quin
Akira leaps to his left, landing on his shoulder to roll up and come at a slash against Quin.
Akira is holding his sword in a reverse dagger grip, reducing the range at which he can engage in.
Quin shifts to the right to keep with Akira's movements having shed his armour earlier in the fight.
Quin having a techniqual high ground and greater reach is able to angle his blade at Akira's throat.
Akira raises his blade upwards in his slash still while rotating his body to follow the slash.
Quin angles his blade by raising his sword hand higher, meaning that his sword is still going on its intended course.)

His left hand may not have found the pommel, or even the hilt of the blade; but it was a simple move to just clench the hand into a fist and deliever a jab towards Akira's now exposed flank.

With the jab at the man's kidney and the still present threat of being stabbed it would be best for the man to deal with those problems before he tried something else.

(And that is called an interupt.)

Conservative efficiency. Just a little bit of personal flare. Mixing the basics and some seemingly, but apparantly not, mystical force he'd never heard of fluidly. It was Quintilius alright. Rivven wondered how long it would take him to finish it.

Perhaps not long at all. He seemed to have no reservations against incuring a fatality for the sake of an unnecessary fight's victory. Not that anything else could have been expected.

Even standing still and silent in the middle of the crowd seated or like wise standing for a view in the rows, the white haired man cloaked in white would probably not have been hard to pick out. But he doubted anyone about would recognize him or know to look, in anycase. Quintilius perhaps, once his match had concluded, but glancing to the crowd during the fight could easily prove fatal for either, fighting unarmored at melee range with blades. Rivven could be gone by then, not that it mattered, either. He had no where else to be, and no reason not to watch, but plenty to.

He never expected to find himself in direct opposition to Quintilius. But one never knew.

Already it was worth it. It was indistinct, what was going on, but he recognized it to some degree, and of course was turning over the offered explenations in his mind. He knew Quintilius had access to ki, if a great lack of training or experience with it. But he would have sensed that so nearby, in any mass, active or inactive. He could have expected ki or demons and their contributions, however bizarre, of the man, but this was new. Evidently, the Marquis was readily willing to dabble in just about anything. Trade, ki, the dark arts, pleasure seeking... no, something new was no surprise, but it was good to see what he could. Taking a steel canteen from his hip, he lifted it to his mouth and tilted his head back just a bit, keeping his eyes on the movements below while he drank. He wouldn't want to miss anything, what, with how breifly this was apt to end.

((Just to recap and further explain Akira's perry))
Akira had not in fact swung his blade upwards from his backhanded style, instead the actual position and direction of travel was an upward stab, not an arch slash. Thus the perry that he moved into was simple enough, his arm had stopped it's upward movement, and his wrists hand twitched the blade so it was perpendicular with Quin's strike, from here he had spun his body so the flat of his blade would perpendicularily strike against the flat of Quin's. This impact would thrust Quin's stab aside, though he Akira would still be nicked by the blade's point it would not be near as bad as a fatal wound.((Yeah I understand your interrupt but apparently you didn't understand my perry the flat of Akira's blade smacks directly, and perpendicularily against your blade and pushes it aside, it's not an upwards slash.))

The point of Quin's blade nicked Akira's neck ever so slightly, drawing a line of blood where it had been touched. Akira merely smiled and continued the rotation of his spin.((I'm reposting the attack that I had made last time because it seems that I had to further clarify the previous counter and attack. This way we don't get convoluted in the battle.))

Any wound upon the throat is a potential for death. There is almost no chance for just a little nick being anything but fatal and with Akira's rotation he would have made it only all the more likely to bleed to death. For Quin's original strike was only to pierce the wind pipe and do some damage to the spinal cord. Akira's move at rotated and made the blade cut across the right side instead of on center. The blade's tip would slice across a major artery, and while it may only be bleeding a little now if Akira didn't do something soon it would prove the end of him.

But that was the least of his worries, the jab to the kidney was a success in all ragards and Quin's mind was quick and held no mercy. The winds of magic which are birthed from the immaterium, chaos, the warp, conjured into his hand. Quin could feel Akira's field leach off the energy, and that was the intention. Channeling energy from the warp directly into Akira's body there would be a slow change. An almost imperceptable one, but one that would prove more fatal then the cut on his throat.

The energy is not one easy to control, especially for someone that didn't have any gift for it. This energy was chaotic in nature and entropy was it's game. The longer the fight would go on the more deadly it would become as he had become a receptacle for the powers of the warp and mutation would set in.

But that was down the road; reverseing his grip on his own blade Quin brought it back as his fist landed against Akira's right flank. Then rotating the blade so that the tip was downwards he slammed it into the ground; the daemonic force within the blade screaming in protest at the harsh treatment as the blade pierced stone. Akira's blade would strike agaisnt the flat of Quin's well before it could strike his lower legs.

But as that happened Quin used the sword as a ballance of sorts and kicked out his right leg directly for the unprotected head of Akira. There would be no chance to prevent it as he was as low as he could go without falling flat on his a**, no hands to ward it away as they both clung to the katana, and most of all he'd be too surprised about the sudden block of his sword to only watch as the boot came towards his face. For Quin had timed his blow just so that when Akira's blade struck his, his own foot would be hitting Akira's face.

Between all of this Quin's left hand which had delievered the punch had withdrawn to a point at his side, the hand rested upon the handle of a flintlock and was gripping it as he began to pull it out. A grin played across Quin's looks the entire time.
