Greetings!
I'd like to run the Red Hand of Doom adventure for a small group of people here in the guild. The adventure takes place in the Elsir Vale, which is not in any pre-existing campaign setting, so you don't need to worry about knowing where your character came from (you can just make up a name for wherever you came from). I'm going to only accept 4 to 6 players (who are committed to playing) for the adventure, so sign up quick! Also, make sure there's a cleric in the party because you'll need one!! A wizard or sorcerer would also help.
Here's the character creation guidelines:
arrow Starting level is 5th. This means your current XP is 10,000 and you need 15,000 to level up.
arrow Ability Score Generation: Roll 5d6 and drop the two lowest rolls. Do this six times then arrange the resulting totals however you'd like. Then you have an extra 1 point to place wherever you like. This extra point is from achieving 4th level. Make sure you make the adjustments to your ability scores if you are a race other than human. Please make your rolls
here. arrow Race Restrictions: here are the races you can choose from:
Human, High Elf (the PHB elf), Wood Elf (MM), Wild Elf (MM), Gray Elf (MM), Rock Gnome (the PHB gnome), Chaos Gnome (RoS, +1 LA), Whisper Gnome (RoS, +1 LA), Forest Gnome (MM), Lightfoot Halfling (the PHB halfling), Tallfellow Halfling (MM), Hill Dwarf (the PHB dwarf), Mountain Dwarf (MM), Dream Dwarf (RoS), Half-Orc, Half-Elf, Goliath (RoS, +1 LA), Illumian (RoDe), Aasimar (MM and RoDe, +1 LA), Tiefling (MM and RoDe, +1 LA), Half-Ogre (RoDe), Sharakim (RoDe, +1 LA), Mongrelfolk (RoDe), Dragonborn (RoDr), Spellscale (RoDr), Raptoran (RoW), Catfolk (RoW), Killoren (RoW)
--- You may have noticed I marked Whisper Gnomes with a +1 LA, even though they do not have an LA in Races of Stone. This is because I feel they are overpowered for a LA of 0.
---
You may also have noticed that there are no races from Races of the Wild in this list. This is because I do not have a copy of that book. I would include them in this list if someone were to send me a PDF version of the book ...
wink ---Be sure to take into account any level adjustment or racial hit die that you have incurred. Thus, if you choose to be a Tiefling (LA +1), you can only have 4 class levels instead of 5. You still get the same amount of gold and have the same amount of experience.
arrow Alignment Restrictions: You cannot be evil, and chaotic neutral is not "chaotic stupid" and is not an excuse to do whatever you want and ruin the campaign.
arrow Class Restrictions: For various reasons, I am not allowing the warlock class. All other classes (from the Player's Handbook, Complete "X" books, Expanded Psionics Handbook, and the Players Handbook II) are allowed. However, if you pick an Asian-themed class from the Complete series, you must include in your backround how you came from a foreign land because the campaign takes place in a traditional medieval setting. Anything from Magic of Incarnum or Oriental Adventures is not allowed.
arrow Feat Restrictions: You can only choose feats from official D&D books. Please ask me before using feats from Forgotten Realms or Eberron books, though I'll most likely allow it unless they are specific for those campaign settings.
arrow HP Generation: Max HP for 1st level, then roll for the next 4 levels, remembering to add your constitution modifier to each level's result. Please make your rolls
here. arrow Money: You have 9000 gold to spend. You cannot spend more than 2250 on any one item. These links will give you some ideas on what to buy:
Equipment,
Magic Items, and
Psionic Items.
arrow Backround: Your character needs a backround story which reflects your experience level. Level 5 does mean you have had many adventures up to this point, but it doesn't mean you've killed a dragon before
xp . Make sure its detailed and includes a description of your character's appearance.
Assume that all of your characters know each other already and are part of an adventuring party. In fact, your characters just recently defeated a chimera and found a map in its cave that leads to a place near the town of Drellin's Ferry. The destination of the map is an abandoned outpost called Vraath Keep where a vault of treasure is said to be hidden. At the start of the campaign, your party has been travelling west along the road known as the Dawn Way through the Elsir Vale, through all the towns situated along the Dawn Way, and has almost reached Drellin's Ferry, the westernmost town in the Vale.
Alright. That's it. Now start making those character sheets!
EDIT: I obtained a copy of Races of the Wild, so now I am allowing the Raptoran, Catfolk, and Killoren races, should someone wish to play one of them.
