i hear that most hollow bodies get an unavoidable ammount of feedback if the amp is turned all the way up (to 11 even)

Well, if you have the money for the Gibson, go for it. But it would be a large investment, and if you did get it, you would have to play it alot for it to be worth buying.

Ever considered the Epiphone version?

Hehe... Paul Reed Smith is where it's at for semi-hollow bodies. I've only ever played/seen one and it was phenominal.

My 2 cents: I have had my Epiphone 335 for about a year, and I love it.

I know, I know, Epiphone...In my opinion the 335 is the only Epi worth buying. The only thing you might notice is that the finish is a little better on the Gibson and the neck has binding, and block inlays.

The Epi is sorta neck heavy (due to the headstock) and the Gibson a little less.

I've played both, and thought the Epi was a better deal.

depends on what kind of amp you have man. like a crate or a behringer...yeah, it'll feedback. but if you have a tube amp, like a marshall, or a dean markley. i have a dean markley tube driving head going through a crate cab. so i will be ok

Gibsons are nice but I agree uit would be a big investment and you would have to play it a lot and probably be better to get a less expesove one if yo arent playing shows or in a bamnd or anything,
