there are 14 books out there that i now of from the author Laurell K. Hamilton series of Anita Blake, Vampire Executioner/Hunter.
The main character: Anita Blake, she is (at the beginning) a human who is only 5' 3" but can take men down the size of pro wrestlers-but she does get hurt like humans do as well. she is also i think somewhere around 25 of age. she can also bring the dead back tot he living but only as something close to a zombie and they MUST go back into the grave when she is done with them. she is also an exacutioner for the undead vampires who the state has issued for her to kill-she is not the only exacutioner out there and is no thte only animator out there either, but she is very very very special woman.
The place: St. Louis, Missiouri-present time
The creatures: vampires, voodoo priests, animated dead(means that the dead have come back as zombies or as ghouls), and of course-werewolves, wererats, wereleoperds(remember that one when if you read it), and many other wereanimals.
The problem: every vampire hates animators-someone who brings the dead back to life. because that person has control over every dead thing-even vampires. so all through the book it is about Anita Blake finally finding the right men in her life, trying to be normal, trying to get by with future problems, and trying to make a living by killing vampires and raising the dead.
