Ever been to a hotel or old house that has animal heads mounted on the walls? Do you find this practice to be disgusting, scary and unnecessary or honorable and dignified?

I think it's stupid. If you hunt animals, well, I hate that too (I mean, hello, why do we have grocery stores now?)...but if you hunt to eat, that's fine. Stupid and asinine...but fine. I hate trophy hunters that kill animals just to mount their heads on the wall and show people: "LOOKIE HERE, I CAN SHOOT AN UNARMED DEER!" or something. I think it just shows how lame our society is that it has to regress to this prehistoric, frontier-esque way to show who's more dominant or more manly or whatever.

I wouldn't mind going hunting once, but I'd actually eat the venison that a deer supplies. Mostly it'd be a thing to see if I could actually shoot something/someone. I'd only keep the antlers. The actual head...Blueh...

Ashahis I wouldn't mind going hunting once, but I'd actually eat the venison that a deer supplies. Mostly it'd be a thing to see if I could actually shoot something/someone. I'd only keep the antlers. The actual head...Blueh... Thing is, I know I'd be able to pull the trigger on a human. A human can fight back or even have their own gun. Animals can't. Thus, I can't shoot one.

I've never had that opportunity. Save with a paintball gun and I pwned that....

Ashahis I've never had that opportunity. Save with a paintball gun and I pwned that.... Neither have I. I'm just certain that I could. Like if it boiled down to the last straw, I could. I wouldn't intentionally pull a gun on someone (I'm a pacifist) but if I had to shoot someone to save my own life or someone else's, I would.

Ditto. *shrug* I could if I had to, but not otherwise.

But you also have to keep in mind that these are just the heads. Some people who have the heads up there probably did eat them. But people who have them just for trophy purposes and tosses the body somewhere do need to like.. be slapped in the face with a stick. Iono though, if I lived in my grandpap's house I'd take up hunting. The closest grocery store is a 45 minute drive.
Only problem is... I can shoot a gun but I can't aim for poop.

I think stuffed heads on the walls are really creepy. Once I had a friend who refused to go into anyplace that had them on the walls, she had an absolute freakin' phobia about it.
Me, I just think it's gross, dead stuffed things on the walls. Yech.

Ewwwhy.
I don't want dead animal carcasses staring down upon me. Especially when I'm sleeping.

If I was ever sleeping in a place that had an animal head on the wall, I'd either take it down or cover it (if I couldn't remove it from the wall).
