It occurred to me -- and maybe I'm just thinking too much yet again -- but living here in California seems to expose us to Spanish just a wee bit more than other places in the US. Well... Florida's right up there with us, natch.

Myself, I'm from Nebraska. Um... just take out a US map, look for the flat area above Texas, and put your finger in the middle. Yep, there ya go. No, that's not important right now. But before my family moved here when I was seven, the only Spanish I'd heard was on Sesame Street ("cerrado... !abierto!") and phrases from my mother, who'd majored in Spanish in college.

I didn't even take Spanish in high school... or French. I took German. And while I won't pretend I'm fluent now, I can watch a telenovela and more or less follow the plot, or get the idea of a conversation (if not the finer points) and even contribute an idea or two. Granted, I have a terrible accent (can't roll an r to save my life) and my grammar blows, but hey. I worked three years in retail in Los Angeles. If nothing else, I have enough Spanish to sell shoes. o_O*;

So, fellow Californians... ?habla espanol?

I know no spanish except for the very basic words...but its not like I can ever use them for real. ninja

I cant phlegm my CH's....which is like...crucial for reading Hebrew ninja

I hated my Bar Mitzvah because of my lack of a CH ability.
I knew all the old people who were very picky were dissapointed xd

especially kosher jewish wine gonk

Oh...I like red wine too...just the wine that we use during holidays and stuff isnt very good j xp
