The sun was shining and there was a gentle, subdued breeze as the juvenile padded softly past the entrance of the place she'd once called home. If she tried to think about it now, she couldn't recall just what had made her decide to leave this dreary, yet familiar place. As it was, the hyena's nose was twitching vigorously at all the smells, some she recognized, and some she didn't. How long had it been, anyway? Surely she hadn't been gone for too long. One of the first scents she picked up was one she'd sampled quite a bit, starting from the very first day she'd been inhabiting the place.

Mafa..

She found herself immensely curious as to what her old comrade kept herself busy with these days, and she could tell by the strong scent of the older femme, that she was definitely still around. Perhaps she'd have to find her later, catch up on old times..

When her paws decided that they could move again, she found them carrying her right towards that infamous elephant skull she knew Mafa loved so much. She felt her eyes drooping slightly, and decided to find a place to get in a short nap before seeking out her old acquaintance. Perhaps she'd feel better after she'd slept. By some twist of fate, she managed to find the very spot she'd used on her first visit, and chuckled to herself as she curled her slightly larger form up, her eyes drifting closed even then.

Kimwondo had just been exploring the Graveyard a newcomer and snivelling coward that had no idea about the authoratative female that lived her with her pack.
His deep purple eye's watched the sea of bones and the wave upon wave of death's alluring stench.

However as the scent of another reached his nose, his ears shot up.

Another hyena?...and a FEMALE too!

The male winced at the thought of being bossed around again, but this time, instead of fighting, he would do what he was best at if he was confronted by one of the opposite gender.

...

He'd grovel.(sp?)

As he moved around the bones, he saw the dark gray female and arched a brow at her form.
She was quite good looking...at least she wasn't purple, so that meant she wasn't one of his family.
The plague had sorted that problem.

So he decided to watch from afar.

She had just begun to revel in that glorious moment between waking and sleep, when a new scent sliced through the others and took priority within her sensitive nose.

And it was an entirely new scent, at least to Sauda. She was fairly certain she'd never been in contact with this particular odor. Without a moment's hesitation, her eyes shot open and quickly darted about her surroundings. She'd been almost positive that she'd been alone before!

Forcing back a sigh, she smirked to herself as her eyes fell, at last, upon the source of the disturbance. It was just another hyena.. though, he was purple. Yes, she was fairly certain that this was a male. Her ears perked slightly forward as she felt herself relax a little. She told herself it was silly to have been so on edge, though, she had every right to. She couldn't be completely sure that it was safe merely being here, things had changed. She'd left..

Her thoughts drifted back to Mafa, just then, and she found herself wondering, once again, what her old companion had gotten into since she'd been gone. But there would certainly be time for finding out later. For the moment, she needed a rest, and later, a meal. And so, she allowed her eyes to fall closed once more, though her ears retained their upright position, in case that male should decide to try anything.

((Eee my god I'm terribly sorry for letting it go this long! *had forgotten she hadn't replied* o______O;;;; ))

The male stood there for a few moment's, continuing to watch from afar as his tail swayed back and forth, hunched slightly as his ear's remained perked atop his head.
Finally, he took a tentative step forward, then another, making sure the female wouldn't attack him as his purple eye's watched her.

"May I ask what such a lovely hyena like yourself it doing in a place like this?" He asked, one brow arched questioningly at her.

He then stopped half way from where she was and sat down, a lop of purple hair falling over his face that he blew out of the way angrily.
He hated when his hair did that, it was annoying.

(( don't suppose you could post a pic of your hyenas? I just like to know what the others look like when I rp with people. sweatdrop ))

User ImageRasuli was headed back to his own sleeping spot, a half-buried ribcage that provided a rather good cave of sorts when he'd dug out the back a little deeper. Kept out the wind in any case, not to mention it was close to Mafa's own lair. Not too close, but close enough that others didn't normally come near for fear of the almighty pack alpha.

Except for this time.... Rasuli paused, the dead rat in his jaws still uneaten. He'd wanted some quiet so he could enjoy crunching up all the bones as well as the little meat that the prey would provide. But it looked like that wouldn't be the case now that he could smell not one, but two new scents in the immediate area.

He thought back to the newcomers he'd already met. No, these didn't smell like any of them, these were even newer. Dropping his catch inside his den, he stalked out again and head for the others.

"And may I ask the same thing?" He mimiced, once he came close enough to the pair, though in a much more firm tone. Another male and a female - who looked as though she'd made herself quite at home. That made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Who did she think she was?

"Who are you and what are you doing here? So close to Mafa's den? Do you know where you are?" He stood tall, feeling quite capable as Mafa's favourite scout.

For a moment, she was sure that the male had given up, for whatever reason. But then, her ears twitched with the light sound of footsteps and then with the sound of his voice, apparently. She couldn't remember the last time she'd met a hyena this.. bold was a good word for it.

As it was, she had to chuckle at his question, and she shook her head lightly before opening her eyes once more to turn and look over at him lazily. And she'd thought today would be mostly uneventful.. at least until she met Mafa again.

She'd been about to answer the delightful purple hyena's question, when yet another one popped up, seemingly out of nowhere. She could remember a time when she'd actually wished to see others like herself in this place, and now it would seem her wish had come true. No doubt it had pretty much everything to do with her puphood acquaintance, somehow.

Turning her attention back to the male.. males situated off to the sides of her, Sauda expelled a small sigh and took the opportunity to look both of them over. She found she rather liked the purple one, but it was probably only due to his unusual fur color.

Head tilting slightly to the side, she glanced between the two a couple times and then turned her attention back to the newest arrival. The way she saw it, he was probably the biggest threat to her right now. "Oh, well I spent much of my puppy days here, you see, and I had decided that it would be interesting to come back and see how an old.. acquaintance of mine was doing," she explained, looking the red-eyed male right in his red eyes.

"Before I left, we seemed to get along.. well enough anyway," she added, hoping her explanation was enough to satisfy their curiosity. The way the second male was acting, however, suggested that he was more than a little curious, unlike the purple one. Perhaps she shouldn't have come back at all..?

The male winced as another voice filled the scene, male aswell and he slowly craned his head to look at the younger hyena, only to roll his eye's a little at the way he spoke.
He then raised his head a little, eye's half narrowed in a sort of street wise, suave look as he watched the little coversation interupter.

The way this kid spoke to the female made his hair stand on end, didn't he know how to respect the ladies?
Honestly, the youth of today only cared for their alpha and alpha alone now aday's.

"Hey kiddo, who taught you to speak that way your mum?" He said, an air of aristocracy about him, that basicly seemed to scream 'better then you so watch yourself' every time he seemed to make the most subtle of movement.

"Don't you know how to respect ladies? Or did you not get told that lecture!?"

Mafa had been making some minor rounds around the Graveyard, visiting the border, her cave, some dens, basically taking a small inventory of her territory. She was rather glad to be away from Mabozi, her now juvinille son. He could be so demanding, so Mafa prefered to ditch him with some of her 'goons' and go on her way without another thought. In this free time, Mafa had the time to think, ponder on how things were going, and so far, for Mafa, things were going well. Extremely well. She was damn pleased with the newest members to the pack, two young females who seemed more than eager to please. Very well.

It was during this round of patrol that Mafa came across a meeting of three hyenas. What commotion, at least in the Graveyard's standards. She came up upon the group silently, immediately recognizing one of the hyenas as Rasuli, her favorite of the pack, and whole hyena population in general... Not that she'd admit it. He was her ideal student, he was growing up just as she had hoped. Another male was also in the bunch, a strange one, Mafa felt no worry for him. But the female of the group did make her tense up, would she have to fight? There was something about this female that make her brain churn, perhaps she had seen her before? her pelt was a classic gray and black, a dying breed of hyena, as Mafa looked at it. But Mafa dismissed the thought.

The alpha tossed her head up proudly, making sure her posture assured her high rank in the pack, she trotted forward, coming up just behind Rasuli, her eyes narrowed at the meeting before her.

"Well well, what have we here, Rasuli?"

Considering the male had just been snivelling and grovelling before, Rasuli was hardly going to take note of his 'aristocratic air'. Besides, the only form of aristocracy that existed around here belonged to Mafa. She was like a queen and he was her knight.

"Kiddo?" His ears flattened. He was well and truely out of puphood. "Oh yeah? And who taught you to spy on them like that. I saw you." Rasuli snickered nastily. He wasn't interested in wooing girls, but was pretty sure leering at them from afar was certainly not the way one went about it. "And your line was hardly more than revolting. What's a lovely hyena like you doing in a place like this?" He impersonated the other male and then stuck his tounge out. "Disgusting. So you can knock off that high-and-mighty look you're giving me. It's not impressing anyone."

"I'll treat any stranger the same, regardless of gender. Only one female matters around here and it's my duty to ask questions when you're so deep in her territory." He turned his gaze now to the adult female. It was almost like a test to keep his eyes locked on hers.

Rasuli's tone was far more neutral than when he'd spoken to the male. At least this one didn't try to insult him. "You were a pup here?" That could very well be true. "Who is it you're after? I know nearly everyone in the pack. I could tell you if they're still around or if you're wasting your time."

His gaze only broke from their stare when Mafa made her appearance behind him and he took a step aside to let her pass. "A couple of interlopers Mafa... making themselves at home in your personal space." He explained, glad he had the chance now to show off his status to the strangers.

If she hadn't found the male odd before, she certainly had reason to now. Here he was, no, here they were, apparently trespassing on the young male's land, and the purple hyena had the gall to speak to him in such a way! And she had to admit, his previous line was rather amusing. She'd met a few males like him in the past and had learned quickly to pretty much keep her distance. Besides, calling the authoritative young male 'kiddo' probably wasn't the best idea..

As she sat there, listening half-heartedly to the conversation the boys were having, her nose twitched, picking up a new scent. Or at least what she thought was new. Now that she'd noticed it, she also realized that it was somewhat.. familiar. Not long afterwards, the apparent source of that scent chose to make an appearance. Tilting her head slightly, Sauda took in the newcomer's proud posture. It didn't take her very long to put two and two together, it was obvious that they were all in the presence of a very important hyena. Alpha? Yes, that had to be it.

With this new arrival, she decided it would be wiser to abandon her previous, relaxed position, and so she slowly sat up, though she was careful not to make herself look too tall. She wasn't out for a fight, and it was fairly certain that she just might get one if she wasn't careful around the alpha. Now seated, her head lowered slightly and her ears pinned back in a submissive pose, she turned her gaze back to the questioning male. Perhaps he could help her?

"Indeed I was, and I seem to remember several others, now that I think about it," she replied quietly. "Well, you seem to know a lot more than he does," she added, gesturing to the purple hyena who'd been gawking earlier, "perhaps you could tell me if a hyena by the name of Mafa still calls this her home?" She knew it was probably a long-shot, but she'd come this far, and it probably wouldn't hurt to at least ask. Right?

She was still awaiting his, hopefully helpful, answer, when he turned and spoke to the Alpha. At which point Sauda could only sit and gawk. So Mafa was still around, and the Alpha. She'd certainly done well for herself..

Mafa watched the conflict between Rasuli and the purple male. She found it rather comical. Wanderers always had such apparently crafty things to say. But she wasn't surprised, without the authority of a great alpha such as herself, males tended to get wayward and cocky, which was why she kept a tight grip on the ones in her pack. At least, the ones that mattered.

To her pleasant surprise, the gray female took on a submissive position. It made Mafa grin, on the inside that is, to know that even though this was a strange hyena, she still had power over her and commanded respect. She rose her head even higher, her broad chest puffing out, making her look rather enormous and intimidating. Yes, it was good to be on top. After her round of silent boasting, Mafa turned her attention to the female's question. She was looking for Mafa... For her. How did this female know her name? And where had she come from? Had someone really come so far just to find her? Another ego boost. A slow, wicked smile slid onto Mafa's usually blank maw. When she spoke, her voice was cold, but one could tell she was amused,

"Still here all right. I do not just live here any more, I own the place. Who might you be then? Jog my memory for me, will you?"
