Caustic says: Just in case you don't feel like reading down to see my posts before replying- Read it anyways before asking about this as a GAU thing. c a u s t i c It's an interesting idea, but I don't know if I would run it as having ambassadors go into other guilds and as you put it, infiltrate. It'd make more sense if everyone could talk to eachother in one place.
I'd rather have a single place where people who are WILLING to talk and are interested in asking legitimate questions can come. That would lessen the problems Muaethia brought up, since I think those problems would be really bad if you had people just coming into another guild where some people might not like the idea of it.
It'd be better to have a separate guild for ambassadors to meet in. Ambassadors would be people from the guilds who are interested in asking questions and learning and who would have rules/etc to follow in the new guild they are meeting in. They wouldn't be wandering into guilds where some people might not care or like them. It'd be up to them and them only to go back into their guilds. In a private guild, where people can read but not post unless accepted to the guild, then only ambassadors could discuss but anyone from those guilds can come read and give feedback to their own ambassadors as far as questions to ask or whatever.
I'm thinking now that a separate Ambassador guild would be the only decent way to work it. ->In other words- NO ambassadors into other people's guilds. "Ambassadors" from guilds to a guild just for them to meet in. ------------------------ Quote: anyways. I wonder if we could find a scientoligist guild on gaia and have an embasitor go and Learn some stuf. HEY that is such a great idea! EMbasADORS!!! We could have people go check out all the religions and other guilds and then they have ones here. Like in a respectable enviorment... Oh hoh hoh what now who is on a role So the idea was liked by a few people and I think that we should see what kind of religions or places with different beliefs of our own, that we want to be embasadors too. Got a Idea List it. Then lator we would need to assign an embasadors for the religion, get in touch with the guild and have them set up embasadors. BUT for now just list your ideas on guild we should infultrate... in a respectable manor of course! sweatdrop

I know you just posted about this as an idea, but be aware that nothing official is going to be done by the guild unless I approve it. If you want to organize this on your own without saying it's a GAU thing, take it to PM's.
Otherwise, if people are interested and want something done guild wise-> It just depends on what actually happens and if anyone is interested.
It's an interesting idea, but I don't know if I would run it as having ambassadors go into other guilds and as you put it, infiltrate. I was thinking earlier about how there wasn't an active religious tolerance guild. What's a main problem almost everyone suffers from? Lack of information or mis-information. So it'd be good if people could get together to talk about the different religions, beliefs, whatever. Like the ambassador idea, but it doesn't make sense to have people going into each guild. I dunno. It seems like it'd make more sense if everyone could talk to eachother in one place. I don't know if that would be subforum here suitable (kind of like hosting an event or something) or whole other guild suitable.

Perhaps we could get into contact with some of the religious guilds on Gaia and ask their mods about it? I mean, if we ask really nicely they've got to take pity on our poor, lost, Satan-claimed souls. I mean, as long as we don't get too offensive it might be interesting to make a thread in their guild to learn about it and then report back to this guild. We could even let them set up a thread here.
I dunno, just an idea.

Thinking about it seriously now, not in a joking way, I think it's a bad idea.
I mean, in the long term, it may increase their tolerence for us or ours for them. It may make for good, clean, argument-free debates with other intelligent individuals.
But seriously, there'll always be one "UR GOIN 2 HELL!!!!111" n00b that we can't help but snap at. And they won't like hearing logical arguments which 'insult' the things they believe in.
It will end up as an argument-fest, with random flamings, rather than a meaningful discussion.
P.s. Ambassadors.

I already said I didn't like the idea of ambassadors going into other's guilds and all. So I agree with Muaethia on that. Like I also said, I'd rather have a single place where people who are WILLING to talk and are interested in asking legitimate questions can come. That I think would lessen the problems Muaethia brought up, since I think those problems would be really bad if you had people just coming into another guild where some people might not like the idea of it.

I'll have to say this. If anyone wants to do an ambassador thing...it shouldn't be related the GAU. The idea of sending moles into other places for the idea of learning information never sat with me too well.
To send people into the other Guilds for the purpose of tolerance, would work only if it were RL(Real Life). However my experiance from the Internet shows that no one really cares, and it is hard to get a point of view across the web. You might go in with the intent of trying to promote tolerance, but since it is the Web, I don't think many will walk away with the idea of being tolerant. That is with the Ambassadors going into different guilds part.
However....It could work another way. I can imagine a Guild where people/Ambassadors of different cultures, races, religions, and beliefs come together with the intent of learning how to be tolerant.
Getting into religous debate in such a Guild would early it's demise...but what if the topic of religion was left out? If you could prove that people can debate about other topics intelligently(and in a friendly manner)....as well as talk of other subjects in an intelligent and friendly manner it could help people realize that we can get along despite belief differences.

*points to her other posts* Dx I've already said that we should have a separate guild for people to meet in. Ambassadors would then be to one separate meeting guild not to everyone's guilds.
I think it'd be pointless to leave out the topic of religion. It shouldn't be a place to debate who is right and wrong, but people should be able to ask questions so they can learn.

What makes you think this hinges on you paying for it personally? xD Don't worry. If we did this as a GAU thing, I'd just buy another guild.^^

But I'd be willing to go out and contact guild leaders and find ambassadors and such (Can you believe there isn't a true Buddhist guild?). I could also write up the guidelines then post them here for you guys to edit. I want to help out somehow. It sounds like a great idea. Of course, there'll have to be strict non-flaming rules. We'd be ambassadors, and we should act as such in a respectable manner. Of course, the name's already taken:http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?guild_id=1718 But that guild's a different sort of idea. It's not really what we're looking at.

You can help out if we do it. 3nodding
I'd still like to get more feedback from the guild on it before setting anything in stone and getting another guild.

Well... I am currently in a rather odd guild... the Guild for Believers in the Salvation Through Christ, as they call themselves. Kinda funny, actually. There are three non-Christians there, including ,yself, my girlfriend, and a satanist. It's great fun.

No other opinions? I bring this up from the semi-dead :0
It wouldn't really be a GAU thing. I updated the first post so hopefully people wouldn't get too confused about the ambassadors guild idea. No ambassadors into other guilds, ambassadors into one grand ambassador only guild.
