I know that many don't like this album and that this has been thuroughly discussed in the Official Metallica Forum bunt I'd like to pose the question to you guys. Is St. Anger a great experimental piece or just something they crapped out their asses?

As you said, it was an experiment for them. A thing they needed to do, I like the songs on the album. I love a few of them even ^^
But it can be hard for some people to understand it all, since the sound isnt that tweaked and polished as we are used to. And becuase of that they dont look at the acctualy songs anymore. (sadly)
But I love it, do agree that it could have been better mastering such, but still love it ^^

Yep, something they tried to play around with rather than in the past where everyone would just write their piece and contribute it to the band. But this time they created this album as a whole together not seperate. Also why some don't like the album is because in the middle of it, James left to battle alcoholism and then Jason left the band. Everything about the album is pretty explanitory through Some Kind of Monster.

Yea. Before i saw that movie I didn't like St. Anger at all.
But now I like it. It's not as good as their first albums, but it's still okay :3

(kind of off topic but anyway) What I really liked about the movie is that:

1) Showed some insight into their own personal lives.

2) The actually recording and screening process as well as the search for Robert Truijio.

Dude, that right there is an insult to everything Metallica stands for. St. Anger does not even COMPARE to that shitty music genre. If anything, St. Anger is heavy rock, not "NU Metal" oh wait that genre doesn't exist I think you mean MALCORE.

Don't talk unless you know what you're shitting out of your mouth.

He was comparing Metallica's St. Anger to something like SlipKnoT's IOWA, not that there is anything wrong with that band or record. But those two bands are not even on the same page in the book of rock.

Great album no doubt about it even dough kill em all was the favourite this surely is nu-metal really heavy heavy metal and metallica recorded the album st anger with only 2 guitarist and a drumer since jason the bass guitarist quit and while they were dealing with that the respect they were showing for him now for being with them 20 years not to forget about cliff who passed away very sad and then dave mustaine days 1883 he screwed up and was kicked out later that year jason had replaced cliff was heard on the news watch some kind of monster and look how they made st anger and how they found there new bass player robert trijjilo and how he learned there 11 songs in about six months and then was out with the press then he played with metallica on stage and he became an official member of metallica.
Metallica are known as
James Hetfield-Lead vocals guitarist
Robert Trijjilo-Vocals Bass guitarist
Lars Ulrich-Drumer Vocals
And Kirk Hammet- Lead guitarist Vocals

Although that may be true, Metallica did in fact have some help on the bass with their producer that worked with them on the album.
