So in an effort to drop a few pounds over the next year before my wedding, I'm trying the whole low carb thing. I simply cannot do low fat, though I do try to watch that as well. I wasn't so sure about trying to do low carb. Then I found low carb brownies...
Is anyone else doing low carb? apparently youcan use splenda instead of sugar, and soy flour and oat bran in place of white flour. It helps to reduce the amount of carbs and they're actually tasty.
Anyone else have a low carb recipie they love?

Mmm...brownies *drool* blaugh
When I get settled into my new apartment I plan on resuming my low carb lifestyle *I hate the word 'diet'*. I managed to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks, but I drank tons of water and worked out 4 days out of the week for 2 hours each time.
I have a recipe book somewhere...if I manage to find it, I'll share a few low carb recipes with ya smile

I usually stea...er...borrow his diabetic cookbooks...when you start getting used to cooking healthy foods, you'll start to hate salty/overly sweet food after awhile and will use different herbs to spice up your meals. I'm not much of a cake person, but I a chocoholic, big time...mmmm, chocolate *grabs a hand of easter chocolate eggs and starts munching* blaugh

chocolate is definately wonderful lol. Yeah, I don't like diets. You ask, I've tried it. I like to eat what I like, and this gives me some options. I love certain things in life. Food is one. Sex is another lol. I don't deprive myself of the later, and so I don't think I should try to do that either with food. blaugh So it's why I'm giving this a go. Honestly... I don't care about my weight. Size.. I'd like to be an 18 and not a 26. I don't think that's unrealistic. I look damn sexy as I am, and even sexier at a size 18 lol.

I was a 24/26 a few years back and I'm a 16/18 right now *I flucuate between sizes*. It took determination and having my friends support me, but I was able to lose the weight, so I'm sure you can do it to, you sound like a determined lass 3nodding Your goals aren't unrealistic, they're sensible. Oh, and I don't deprive myself of chocolate or the later either whee lol

From my experience most modified low-carb foods ( like low-carb ice cream) have something I call the "Atkins Aftertaste".
I would strongly suggest you refrain from attempting a low-carb diet unless specifically adviced to. Your body should get most energy from carbs because they break down the easiest, and fat that's not broken down has to float around in your arteries for a while.
The Atkins Diet: For people who want the heart problems of the massively obese and the weak constitution of the anorexic, with the inability to take a dump thrown in for free.

Low carb and NO carb are a tad different...taking it easy on rice/pasta/bread isn't a horrible thing to do, but cutting it out entirely isn't wise either...it's all about balance, but you are right about not starting a diet regime until speaking with a doctor *nods in agreement* 3nodding

I can understand that. I'm going to take it easy on the carbs not get rid of them completely. I am not dieting. I tried to do southbeach once... first diet I truly committed to. Only once I was dropping weight and was on it for about two weeks and just about passed out. I was so light headed and felt so weak that I couldn't do anything. I apparently wasn't eating enough and getting enough calories. Heh, me... not eating enough! It seemed ridiculous oh, but I won't try to do that again.
