The Chase
Invisible wings fluttered with the slight, cool, autumn breeze. A fallen leaf was avoided with the well earned skill of agility. A man passed, but stealth was not needed. His eyes could not see her, for his perception was not as developed as other creatures. Humans were most often ignorant to what went on around them. The sound of a muffled laugh hit small ears. Pupils swiveled around until another tiny creature was spotted and both gave way to a playful chase through the trees and all of the other creatures that surrounded them. Older ones laughed for a moment before continuing their conversations of the past, present and future. Some talked of what was. Some talked of what is, but most talked of what had not yet come to pass.
Humans were taking over their lands; hacking down trees and killing their residents, hostile and peaceful alike.
