How can you say Bit would have more experience than Van? Van fought for years in a war. All Bit has ever done is fight for a while in (mostly) sanctioned battles. The object isn't to kill... therefore, I think Van would win, as he would be more skilled in quickly and effectively finishing off an enemy.
Besides, Van isn't as much of a goofball as Bit... sure, they both are to a degree, but Bit is worse. xp

It depends on if it's kid Van or adult Van, but it's hard to say since they both have insanely dumb luck. XD
I say they both screw up and afterwards go out for food. o_0

It also depends on how hungry Van is during the battle. If they didn't decide on a truce and grabbing something to eat. xd

Now, see, in battle they're both much more serious. I think in the long run, Bit would end up winning, because of a few things:
1. This isn't a fight to the death.
2. The Sheild/Blade liger isn't as agile as the Zero
3. The Zero actually has free will, wheras even with Zeke/Sieg, the Shield Liger will obey Van.
And... because Bit gets infintely more serious in battle, if not a little cocky.
But, again, there is no reason for them to fight, so I say they both go hang out and eat Leena's donuts. And then she chases them around, and they both knock over the Ptera/Raynos, causing Jaime to whine, etc...

Anyone remember Bit's already fought Leon's Blade Liger? 0 fought on equal terms. It would probably end up ina tie due to the org systems. But, in a sanctioned battle Bit still has CAS which would then kick van's butt. Hybrid Cannon Kills Hyper E-shield. Followed up by Mega Bomb and Van is toast.

bit would go down...he only wins on sheer luck. even if he wins all of his battles in zoid:zero, Liger zero would get exhausted, due to the fact that bit will somewhat freak out and run back to the hover cargo, equiping jager, panzer or schnider.
Also because bit would have to run back, van would attack the hover cargo, and thus Dr. Toros would freak out too, while poor jamie has to work quickly to get the shield up, and try to calm Leena's father down. Leena however would get angry at bit and go into crazy chibi mode and yell at Bit over the communication link. While all thats going on Brad would drink coffee and ignore the whole situation because hes not getting paid.

Haha, wow this is a toughy. Personally I love them both. Why?
Bit is goofy, a little slow in the head, clumsy and he was a Liger Zero. Also the whole "fake love triangle" between him Leena and Harry is hilarious. I like his connection to his Zoid. Unlike with Vahn, Bit actually converses with the actual Zoid and not an Organoid. I find that makes it a stronger connection between the pilot and the Zoid.
Vahn is also a bit goofy, especially as a kid. In the Guardian Forces he's alot more calm and skilled. And he has a neat uniform. The Blade Liger was my favorite Zoid before I knew of the Murasame Liger. So another bonus point there. I also loved how you can see his progress in developping his skills. He's didn't go "bam" I'm all powerful even though this is the first time I am piloting a Zoid, unlike Bit.
Btw, I know it's "Van, but I'm just used to writting it Vahn"
They are both cuties and I like them both for different reason. I think they are very good main characters.
