I was listening to 98.1, which is a rap/pop station. Normally I prefer 104.7, which is a rock station, but today I wanted something different. Anyways, on some of the songs, the lyrics included curse words. The cursewords were not edited. However, one of the songs said the word "god" and they bleeped it out. WTFM? They allow them to say the word "********", but not the word "god" . This makes no sense to me.

So Discuss:
The fact that there is actually something semi-discussable in this thread, quite a change from my others.
The strangeness of radio stations.

Woah, this Gaian language filter is strange. It bleeped out what you said in the post, but when I went to quote it, the language was there again. Somehow I don't think that's what it was supposed to do. So anyway, your points shall be addressed. ^-^

arrow Discussable threads are always the best kind! That way, my guild won't choke on empty threads and strangle itself with boredom! XD I think it's doing that already.

arrow Radio stations certainly are strange. I was listening to a music station one hour, and when I turned on the radio another time, the same station had a talk show. I really just prefer WBIG, the local Oldies station, but the dial has a funny way of changing the station all on its own...

arrow Song lyrics shouldn't be edited, I think. I disapprove very much of the language being used, but I don't think that's any excuse to take away another person's freedom of speech. If it's being used in an inappropriate manner, I don't think the song should be played at all. If it's being used appropriately (or at least as appropriately as it can be used) and in context, I think it would take away from the song to bleep words out.

I don't think that lyrics should be edited during the evenings, but perhaps during daytime because of kids (like the watershed at 9pm on TV, but perhaps a little earlier for radio) I guess the reason God was censored but swear words weren't was because blasphemy could could offend religious individuals but swear words generally offend anyone, they are not targetted. It is quite stupid though.
