That's right. It's coming up.
Week after next starts the times of WASL testing for my school (Bethel High School). I know a few of you are done and out of school, but for those who are still in, what are you reactions to the impending WASL-ness? How do you think you'll do? =D

I have to take the WASL test(s) next week. My teachers are trying to give us the impression that we're screwed if we don't take or do well on the test.

I doubt the WASL is going to be much(if at all) different than any other standardized test. In fact, the '07 class can still graduate if we don't pass(I doubt that'd be much of a problem, though. The practice questions I've gone through in class were rather easy)

The thing I'm concerned about is how I'm going to use up the freetime I'll have lol

I like it because I only have to be at school about an hour a day.

Taking it was boring and stupid... but now that it's over, I don't mind a bit.

I'd rejoice but I have to do other stuff when people are doing the WASL (like a practice AP test, ick). Maybe I'll get to sleep in one of the WASL days...maybe...

Dooms day

Doom our soothsayers say
ever closer to its day
a prize to praise
they say
heaven can only be obtained through the WASL

my school overall does well on the WASL its gonna be next week and the week after its gonna be long and boring and we can't bring any music to listen to stare oh and sorry about my bad poetry

The WASL was child's play. My graduating class was the "pilot" year and regardless of being the first class to take it, I found it to be an utter joke.

It's a bullshit exam that absolutely everyone should be able to pass. The knowledge required and the problems contained in the test are elementary level at best. Those who fail lack basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills and thus deserve to not be allowed to graduate.

We don't need the illiterate graduating from our schools and mucking up the workplace. If I'd have failed the WASL, I'd have pleaded for my school's administration to hold me back. If I were that stupid, hell, I should have been sent back to the 2nd grade.

Think of the WASL as a "big flashing beakon" that will alert you to whether or not there's a good chance that you will be failing in life. There are only a small handful of these in your highschool career so keep your eyes peeled. They are as follows:

a) You have to negotiate with your counselour and/or administrator in order to achieve the necessary credits to graduate because you've failed too many Gen-ED classes.
b) You lose credit for a class due to tardies and/or absences (unless you have medical reasons or a vacation which, likewise, can be contested and you will receive these credits back, so my initial observation still stands).
c) You fail an elective course.
d) You score lower than an 1100 on the SAT (although I'm unsure about the **NEW** SAT since it's worth more points and thus the grading will be different).
e) You fail the Washington Assessment of Student Learning exam.

Passing the WASL is neither an achievement nor a milestone. It's no big deal unless you are unable to pass it, inwhich case you're a "big fat loser" and deserve to be stoned (with rocks not weed).

I took the WASL last year.
The 9th grade kids, this year, have to pass the WASL to graduate. Sucks for them.

I passed 3/4 of the sections. And I got .75 credits for it.

I don't have to be at school until like 11 everyday. Shortened classes added to that *sigh* Senority is grand! Although I will probably end up sleeping in or doing homework during my extra 2 and a half hours stare
