Aeris Esper
Unfortunately, like the Eyetoy, nobody will bother buying the peripheral because there are no worthwhile games that require it. And without a market for it, third party developers will stay as far from it as they can.
if it turns out to be a very nice piece of hardware then im sure developers will strive to try and find ways to incorporate their games with it
if they do a good job with it I can think of half a dozen uses off the top of my head
Combining it with the gyroscopic controller you would have full manipulation of a 3D object by using the the new camera to track the motion of the controller, whiule the gyro allows tracking of the rotation and placement seperatley.... then maping switches on the virtual object to buttons on the controler...... allowing for full 3d puzels or interfaces
You could also hybrid it with a light gun design to allow the motion sensing camera to create an arcade quality imersive experience. In time crisis you use a pedal to allow for ducking behind objects, what if you could do this by leaning towards a given object..... while light gun interfaces or tilt gyros track the exact vector of the lightun by referencing the camera data
you could also use it as a side device strictly for puzzles in RPGs to do away with the more bulky puzzle interfaces in lew of a more interactive approach
Puzzle games could be expanded to include the gyro controler and sensor in order to provide a wider range of puzzle styles ranging from full 3d puzzles as I outlined above to more simplified puzzles with streamlined interactive interfaces
you could also implement controls on par with anything the Wii is using because the Camera could track full motion in its feild of view..... and combining that with the Gryoscope you could not only calculate vectors the way the Wii does but also extrapolate fill 3d motion, simulate an analog input by tracking speed of motion.
It could also be implemented with interfaces to create a literal point and click interface for games, which would streamling accessing online game content as well as in game menus for standard games.
