Name: Irasiel Nickname: Ira Sex: Male Breed: Rooster Personality: Arrogant, superior (he's something of a p***k, I'm afraid sweatdrop ) surprisingly loyal and devoted to those he deems worthy of honor. Turn ons: Worship, adoration, honor, honesty, a straight forward outlook Turn offs: Contempt, negligence, lies (stupid lies. Lies can be useful, he acknowledges this), simpering, suck-ups and toadies.

Rooster: Roosters are hardworking and talented, and are often perfectionists in what they do. They are stubborn, becoming aggressive if challenged, because they are so certain that they’re right. They are not afraid to speak their minds and can sometimes come across as boastful as a result.

Irasiel's home: Britain's house is on a very large, secluded piece of land, so she has plenty of space to accomodate the strays she tends to pick up. There are a few houses scattered about the property; one of them belongs to Ira and any other Juusanshi he chooses to invite. It is a large house, though lonely, built of white-painted wood and containing many windows. The gardens are beautiful and elaborate, with several small ponds and areas full of trees where he can lose himself with a book for hours.
The house contains many bedrooms, but all except Irasiel's are empty- perhaps someday he will regain the court he left behind; for now he lives alone. His library is full of Gaian books, thanks to Brit's husband Allamande, but what he truly craves are books from his own world. That collection builds steadily, if slowly, in the large redwood library near the center of the house.
Ira is most likely found in the garden with a book, cutting flowers, or tending to the garden himself. He's very proud of his gardens; while Brit's maintenance people handle most of the basic work, the more fragile of plants are tended with his own hands. He is particularly fond of irises.

Shisei: Ira was a nobleman on his homeworld, but he tended to be something of a loner even among his own people. He gathered around himself a close group of friends and confidants; most outsiders saw these as nothing more than hangers-on, but in truth they stabilized Ira and he considered them sometimes closer than family. Several died before he was moved to Gaia, and the loss pains him considerably. He despised the Cats from afar, never getting close enough to really investigate them but disgusted with their 'whimsical disregard for the basic freedom every being has to control their own life.' Many suspect that his grudge with the Cats is personal- the loss of a lover, perhaps- but he will not speak of it if so.
Gaia: Ira is still a loner, but now even more so- reaching out to others requires too much interaction with the Cats so he draws away from society. He's a little lost without his companions, so he tends to lash out at anyone he meets or inflict the full force of his arrogance on them with sometimes...painful results. He spends much of his time studying this world, magic in general, and privately looking into the reasons why Shisei is losing magic- however, since he doesn't interact with others he has no way of knowing if his suspicions are correct.

Important events:
9-12-04: Actually met Xue. Found him to be surprisingly good company and a much more trustworthy match for Shiki than he'd thought.
9-10-04: Met Aishiki. Promptly developed big brother urges and an eagerness to protect her sweetness.
9-7-04: Met Seppen. Outwardly dislikes him and thinks he's a p***k, but is secretly extremely attracted to him. Bad sign, that.

Relationships with others:
Seppen: He thinks Seppen is a p***k, but he acknowledges his beauty. Can't help but notice, in fact >.o
Aishiki: Could he have found something of a kindred spirit in a CAT of all things...? He may be breeding an iris hybrid for her in the near future- a sign of very high regard. He doesn't really acknowledge it yet, but he sees her somewhat as a little sister who needs protecting.
Xue: He approves of Xue. He might become a good friend in time; in the meantime, he will trust him to be honorable.

Irasiel's Court: The Mangetu Kai
The largest number this group has ever held is 10, and Ira will never allow it to grow so large again. The tenth member betrayed him, so he considers the number unlucky. Five of the remaining nine Kai members have died; only four remain on Shisei, waiting to be summoned. These are Irasiel's family and he misses them dearly. Iris: Murasame Name: -unknown- Murasame is the leader of the Kai in Ira's absence. Though of common blood, he is closer to Irasiel than a lover or a twin. Without Murasame, Irasiel feels as if he's lost a limb. Mura also understands him the best and is most comfortable telling him he's been an idiot. Iris: Miyoshino Name: -unknown- Miyo is actually a distant cousin of Ira's who came to visit one day and simply never left. They get along very well, and Miyo is the highest ranked caste-wise out of the Kai. Ira goes to him for advice on most anything at all, and even follows it sometimes. Iris: Hatsukurenai Name: -unknown- Hatsu is very quiet. He's a large man, broad shouldered and seemingly dangerous, but his introspective nature endeared him to Irasiel. He is the only member of the Kai who actively assists Ira in hybridizing irises; he himself prefers lilies. Iris: Ayasegawa Name: -unknown- Aya is Hatsu's little sister. For a full year Ira resisted allowing her into the Kai- at this point, they were all male- but her determination and free spirit won him over. She is as bright as her brother is quiet, and a feather-light dancer; Ira adores her. Aishiki reminds him of her slightly. The Lost Irises: Fallen members of the Kai

Ryu no Hige || Komachi || Hekuin || Janomegasa || Shiga Ayame
The Tenth Iris: Ensata

The Ensata iris is the pure, wild form that started the art in Japan. It grows as a wildflower on Japan's moors and is considered truly beautiful, honored for the tradition it inspired. Thus, it was a great honor for Ira to grant this title to anyone; when he fell in love with that person and they then proceeded to tear him apart from the heart out, he was shattered. The name Ensata is not spoken among the Kai- to this day he cannot say the name, will not allow a tenth member to the Kai, and despises Cats with every fiber of his being.

Furious, Miyoshino stalked down the steps and back into the library. Irasiel had taken his seat again, tea cooling in his hands; he looked up in alarm as Miyo shut the door forcefully behind him.
"It was him," the Dog growled, his eyes burning with hatred. He didn't know Aishiki very well, but Ira adored her- therefore she, who had shown him only kindness, must be protected. "Your precious Ryuji was the one who hurt her so badly, the one who caused her terrible shyness and fear! Can you possibly defend him now, Irasiel?"
His cousin's face went paper-white, and he knew he'd gone too far- but he was too angry to stop now. "En...Ensata is the one who frightened her?" Ira whispered, setting the cup aside and hugging himself tightly. "But...how?"
"Like I know?!" Miyo snarled, pacing in front of the low table. "She barely even told me that and probably didn't want it to come out that way- but look at this! You should have let me call him out long ago, should have let me tear him apart for his abuse. Your soft-heartedness is going to get someone else hurt, and then where will your convictions be?"
The words bit into Irasiel like acid, and he flinched. Cobalt eyes burned, and he desperately sought a way out- but there was no way out, and he trembled. "He is still a good person, deep down, I know he is," he whispered. "He isn't all bad, Miyo- you can't just slaughter him out of hand..."
"You are lying to yourself, Irasiel," the Dog hissed, laying both hands flat on the table and leaning in close. "He tore you apart, and he hurt Aishiki- you're just another victim, another forgotten toy that he's left by the road. You mean nothing to him, and I'll be damned if I sit by and let it happen to someone else!"
Finally, Ira's head came up. There were tears in those beautiful eyes, but his face had gone still. "You will do nothing. You have caused enough pain- should you press the matter further, you will only cause Aishiki more hurt. She doesn't deserve such a lack of regard!"
"Lady Aishiki wouldn't want anyone else hurt, either," came the vicious response, and Ira got slowly to his feet. "She has a kind heart- where did you leave yours?"
The sound of Ira's hand striking Miyo's face was loud in the sudden silence. The backhanded blow snapped Miyo's head to the left, and he held the position- both of them breathing hard. "Enough," Ira stated, his quiet voice intense. "You are acting as the commoners you hate again, Miyoshino- I am very disappointed. When you have regained control of yourself again, you may renew this conversation- until then, I will not hear another word."
He glided out of the room, then, leaving the Dog alone...once again a victim of his own arrogance, wondering if this time they would recover from the damage.
