Ahem. So Zombies in the modern world. Could this menacing threat come forth to cause an end to civilization? Do you believe they exist, in this modern day and/or in the past? My opinion on this is: that it is plausible the non voodoo kind may exist, but I would doubt that they exist to the full extent of say...Resident Evil or Dawn of the Dead in this modern day.

and....some quick "facts":

-According to The Zombie Survival Guide, Zombification is caused by a virus known as Solanum. It is not found in any flora and fauna as of yet, so its source is unknown.
-Also according to the handbook it is 100% communicable and 100% fatal.
-The book lists supposed records and findings of zombies and the virus that causes them dating back to 60,000 BC.

Also please feel free to discuss your favorite zombie lore, cause I find that stuff to be interesting.

i think that the reason for becoming a zombie in nresident evil is almost impossible it could still happen a virus could infect people like the virus above it could be harvested and might leak into the enviorment cause a dawn of the dead kind of thing

Indeed they do. And those are actually still living people, but with severe brain damage due to oxygen deprivation caused by a temporary death like state that the "zombie powder" that is used in certain rituals induces. or so the zombie survival guide says.

Got me. surprised ...as to where they do that anyway. The powder...I dont know. The book says its ingredients that are a closely gaurded secret. But I would assume that it includes some kind of opiate, combined with various herbs, and the like. To induce healing trances in some deep jungle African tribes, the shaman will make a concoction that is basically a halcinogenic drug, and its a substance that the body rejects, seeing as how the partakers usually end up vomiting multiple times after drinking it.

The powder is supposedly the dried and ground liver of the pufferfish. Notoriously poisonous and can cause the tranced state.

Yes, I've heard it often mentioned in area where Hoodoo or Voodoo is reported to be practiced.
